John Pye - Buyer Beware
I am doing a kitchen extension and looking for quite a few new items. Thought I would give John Pye a try and bought, as a trial, a low cost microwave. The phot looked like it was in a new sealed box, and, if course, no item description. When it arrived I noticed there was no instruction book. Plugged it in to test with a cup of hot water. It was REALLY noisy and the water remained stone cold. However the microwave itself became very hot. Presumably this was a return due to a fault. It's now on its way to the recycling centre and my account at John Pye deleted.
John Pye usually answer the many complaints by stressing that buyers are encouraged to view the items. It would be useful to know if during viewings potential bidders are able to unbox products and, for electrical goods, plug them into a power source to test they are working.

More a glorified car boot sale.
Definitely a gamble on what you receive, some things have been ok, others only fit for bin.
Delivery charges are high compared to other auction sites.
If online bidder beware, they hide defective bits and item descriptions are as useful as chocolate kettle (which they probably sell).
Customer service is poor and evidently doesn’t really care for customers. All they will state is their Term and Conditions.
Overall, much better auction places to use, don’t waste your money.

If I could do -1 I would. Came back to Pye after a 2 year absence and thought would give a try. Should have been ONCE BITTEN TWICE SHY. Bought a Ninja Foodi which arrived broke and without a cooking pot and as for the perfumes, whoever takes the photos could make Warwick Davies look 7ft tall !!

I contacted customer services immediately and explained. They were very helpful and understanding of my concern, resolving it swiftly and cancelling my invoice as the description was misleading. This fills me with reassurance of good and fair customer service.

John Pye may be skimming you up to your max bid.
For the second time, having set my maximum bid on an item and watched it, seconds before the item closes, the price jumps up to just under my max, WITHOUT the timer resetting as per their published rules.
It is my considered opinion that they are doing this to skim extra payments, as the timer SHOULD reset as soon as another bid came in above your previous (winning) bid, and then JUMP up to just below your max bid.
This is the second time this has happened. Price jumps just before close without the timer resetting. They did not answer my previous request for an explanation.
I will be waiting for the goods to be delivered because I have very little faith in them, and asking for a subject access request and their bid logs.
EDIT: JP has responded and for the second time failed to address my question. How was it possible that a price jumped, seconds before the auction closed? Their own rules state that any additional bids submitted trigger an automatic timer reset. This DID NOT happen, I have the F12 console data recorded as forensic evidence. This appears to be foul play and I shall take it up with the relevant regulatory bodies.

Be very careful. They sell so many fakes and majority is Amazon returns. Lots of faulty stuff. If you raise they fob you off and deny. I even proved they were fake goods with manufacture evidence but still refused to accept. Dodgy illegal dealers. Avoid avoid.

Avoid! I've been buying items from them for a few years and spent a lot of money. I recently ordered an item and when it arrived, the box was empty. I emailed them and provided pictures, but they declined the refund and explained it wasn't their policy to offer refunds, even though the image on the listing clearly shows it was sealed. This was my first major complaint and I've had to go through my bank to dispute the payment. Awful company, terrible customer service. Please find a more reputable company.

ZERO STARS. Please do not buy from John pye if you are unable to view the product before bidding. They expect you to bid for their goods from all over the country and they set inconvenient time frame to visit to view the products. The advert on their website always looks enticing and Perfect. It suggests you can rely on thier presentation to place your bid. They then send you incomplete and damaged goods. I have had very ugly experiences from this company. It is pure fraud.

You can find some great stuff.. However.
You can find some great stuff, however, I've had terrible luck with electrical items, items are dead, had a vacuum that set of my smoke detectors and 2 dead floor lamps. Emailed the Birmingham office but no reply. So be warned. I've had some good finds for collectable stuff, just steer clear of electrical stuff, too much safety risk.

Stolen goods!
Stolen goods!! I've just seen a reseller selling a item I personalised so it's extremely recognisable. They showed me they bought it from this site. Basically couriers are stealing packages and selling them to these guys. I've still never been compensated for my misding parcel so the item is legally mine. Ive filed a police report & also opened a small claims for the money owed

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME
Yes, you can pick up a bargain but only on some items. You pay 25% commission and 20% VAT and a delivery charge if you cannot collect the item. BUT here is what they do not tell you. Almost all the furniture bidders are small furniture outlets who sell seconds do not pay VAT.
So you have to bd 21% higher then these small furniture outlets. Resulting in you are wasting your time or paying almost the actual RRP.

First time i've orded anything from John Pye, Taken about 3 weeks for my small item to come to my door after paying £8.00 for delivery from Birmingham 50 miles away. After complaining to john pye i was told different things some of which was not true and tossed from pillow to post. The customer service and the complaints procedure not fit for purpose at all. When my item did eventually arrive it was broke could not be used endded up in the trash. Never again will i order from john pye again. Not worth the stress

I've been buying a bit from John Pye and I am really enjoying the experience. The system is easy to follow and the process is fairly foolproof. I spoke with Ryan G when I thought I had paid for an item twice. I was not made to feel like an idiot and was told they would investigate immediately and update me. I received an email within 5 minutes confirming our conversation and next steps. I realised later that evening that I hadn't paid twice - my mistake. I woke to an email the following morning confirming what I already now knew. I was impressed with the speed my query was dealt with, from my initial call to the email received. Thank you Ryan G! I have used John Pye Auctions for years…
I have used John Pye Auctions for years and in the main have been happy with purchases. There have been some items that have been dodgy but to be honest I feel it is stated that items should be viewed before hand, so if I chose not to this is on me. If I am buying a more expensive item I contact the team and in most instances they have been happy to give a better description of the item if the product is online and I cannot get to the site. Yesterday I had a bit of a mix up with lots and Invoices, all my fault; I had made a mistake going between the website and the app. Shakira personally helped me to rectify the situation and I am now waiting on my product arriving.
