Deeply Disappointed – One Plan Pet Insurance Failed My Dog in an Emergency
Today I stood in my vet’s practice, holding my sick dog in my arms. He was diagnosed with bladder stones and a blocked urethra — a life-threatening emergency.
On my vet’s advice, I phoned One Plan to confirm how much cover my hospital plan provides before proceeding with the operation. The consultant refused to tell me, saying I must first go ahead with the procedures, pay out of pocket, and only then submit invoices for assessment.
I asked why I couldn’t get the pre-authorisation they advertise. I was told they’d speak to a manager, then hospital admissions, and then came back saying they had no answer. They assured me that hospital admissions would call me immediately — but four hours later, I’m still waiting. I was also told that the hospital admissions department “does not take calls.” My vet was on standby to speak with them personally at the time.
Why do I pay for insurance if, in a genuine medical emergency, they can’t provide clarity or support? My dog’s condition is serious and could still be fatal. One Plan shows no compassion, no urgency, and no accountability. I am deeply disappointed and feel completely let down at the moment I needed them most.
I request that a senior representative contact me urgently to address this failure and to explain why emergency pre-authorisation is not available when it matters most.

We added a puppy to our existing policy the service was fast friendly and efficient. No hassles we have been with One Plan for almost 10 years and in this time I have never experienced any reason not to be anything but extremely satisfied.

I spoke to a consultant on 04/08/2025…
I spoke to a consultant on 04/08/2025 to request a downgrade as I cannot afford the initial policy requested as I am currently unemployed, he said he’ll send me an email with brochure to assist me to select option for my downgrade but email came with no attachment. A 2nd consultant called later in the month of August 2025 to follow up on non payment on my policy and I explained to the lady that I had requested for a downgrade and she said she’ll follow up with her colleague, then till now no feedback. Fast forward 2 September R1835 was debited from my account, which by the way is my kids transport money to school for the month. I called in to ask for my refund and response I got from One Plan was sorry they can’t refund me because one months notice. So meaning my kids won’t go to school for this month because their consultants couldn’t send me proper information to process downgrade? So my kids must suffer and not go to school???? 😡😡😡 worst company to deal with

REFUSES YOU TO DECLINE A CALL!!!
I was going to take out insurance for my pets until I got spammed and harassed. By the 3rd call I had to decline in a row, just non-stop while I am in a meeting it's 10:00 AM on a Friday (not everyone just sits and calls people for a salary). I gad to scream "DID I NOT JUST DECLINE TWICE???" This has caused me to go somewhere else thanks, DotSure looks good now, thanks!

I signed up with one plan and during my cool off period I asked the advisor to cancel everything, one day before my debit order an advisor Jennifer called me and I told her I cancelled it and she said they will still be taking a payment, my debit order went out and they told me they will refund me and they haven’t gotten back to me, I send emails and follow up with my proof that my debit order went off DAILY BIT THIS MEDICAL AID IS ONLY THERE TO EAT PEOPLES MONEY!!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM AT ALL!!! I’ve been asking for my refund and they all ignore me after my payment has been taken out for their commission!!!!!!!!!!!!!if this is not dealt with I WILL be taking legal actions!!!!
