I ordered from PizzaExpress through Uber Eats earlier this month and was very disappointed. The pizza arrived cold and dry. The chocolate dessert was great, but if you can’t get the main product your business is known for right, there’s little reason to order again.

TL:DR - Rude staff, poor quality food that was also burnt and cold. Expensive for what it is and relatively slow even when the restaurant isn't busy.

I have been a customer of pizza express for decades and used to really rate their food and service. I have seen first-hand the decline in the quality across the chain over the past few years but I've never bothered to write a review until now but tonight was unacceptable.

We had booked at another restaurant in the area (who will also be getting a 1-star review) on the 31st of August 2026 (which is a Bank Holiday Monday) at 20:00 but due to a technical glitch on their end, they hadn't received our booking and had shut the kitchen down early so they couldn't serve us. So out of desperation we went to pizza express which was only 10-15 mins away, despite not having good experiences recently.

Obviously, none of the above is Pizza Express’ fault but what irritated me and my family was that we showed up at 20:15 and the attitude of the waitress who met us was unacceptable. This was at the outlet centre in Swindon.

First, she tried to pass us off entirely to the Wagamama next door. Then she told us that, despite us showing up well before the 9 pm closing time that she could only offer us takeaway because "the kitchen is behind." If she had said that they couldn't take any orders at all then that's one thing but not being able to give us a table? There were about 4 to 6 tables of people sat in the resturaunt being served that I can see as I stand here waiting for my order. The resturaunt is not empty nor is it especially busy and the kitchen and waiting staff are still there working. There is no way that the kitchen being behind would prevent them from seating us. In my opinion the staff are being lazy and can't be bothered to seat us as they want to leave quickly.

We weren't even allowed to sit and wait in the resturaunt itself. We were told to wait outside the resturaunt in the outlet centre's closed food court. We were also told that it would take 10 mins for our food to be ready, both by one of the chefs and the waitress. At no point did they say it could be any longer than that. We then waited 20 mins before we had to go and find someone to ask where our food was. The waitress was very rude, defensive and unapologetic to us, claimed that she "couldn't guarantee" the time it would take and refused to give us her name. We then spoke to the manager who was totally uninterested. Normally I side with resturaunt/retail staff because it's a difficult job and sometimes customers can be unpleasant but we did nothing to deserve this treatment.

Worst of all, when we got home, we found out both garlic breads and one of the pizzas we ordered were burnt and despite using a proper pizza bag to keep them warm on the way home, the pizzas were cold by the time we'd driven home (which is only about 10 mins from the resturaunt). It was also £89 for four pizzas and two garlic breads which given the quality of the food and service, is not good value!

I will continue to avoid this place as much as possible and suggest everyone else does too.

Awful experience
We visited our local Pizza Express with our granddaughters at 5:30pm on Thursday 27/08/2026 and never again.

On arrival, our 5-year old pulled out her chain and sat straight into a puddle that was in the middle of her chair. Not a good start, the staff then wiped and soaked up the water but didn’t swop out the chair for a dry one, until I interviewed.

We order our drinks but no apple juice was available for our grandchildren, so we ordered orange juice, which they forgot to bring out with the other drinks. At no stage did they offer the drinks on the kids menu.

It then went from bad to worse, by informing us, after they delivered the drinks, that all chicken and prawn meals were off the menu as they had run out them at lunch time.

We then asked for a Childs menu because there was none on the table, to be informed they had runout and didn’t have any at all. Whereby a waitress than tried to recite then kids menu from memory, which our 5-year old couldn’t comprehend. We were then informed that if we wanted a kids menu we needed to open the app and order from there - Really. Eventually they found next seasons kids menu but some items weren’t available because they were halloween menus.

So a pizza, a cannelloni was ordered, along with two kids fusilli creamy pesto’s with Béchamel sauce. It then went from worse to unbelievable. The waiter then returned to inform that they had also run-out of white Béchamel sauce, so the cannelloni, and two kids meals where also off the menu.

The order was then changed to a Lasagna, which appeared to have no beef mince and the kids got fusilli with a green pesto fluid that looked so unappetising but got semi eaten before being rejected.

The bill was heavily discounted by the manager but we will never set foot inside that establishment or Pizza Express again.

This was like an absolute masterclass in how not to run a restaurant. From wet seats to missing menus and running out of basic ingredients like béchamel sauce on a pasta dish, it is completely understandable why we left feeling exhausted and frustrated. Taking a five-year-old out to eat is supposed to be a fun family treat, not an obstacle course of food shortages and bad service.

Absolutely awful experience to run-out of so many food and drink items

We were a family group of 15 (mostly adults). Great service and food and a very entertaining and engaging waiter (Colin). Used Blue Light card, which was a helpful saving. Love Pizza Express in Ely, Cambridgshire.

Tried to use the app for savings and asked the staff serving . Fairly rude told us to read the ts and cs and left us for another 20 mins before a staff member came back .
Food good
Staff should be able to instruct a customer how to use the app..
Would not rush back .. staff arguing behind the serving area .

We went to the Ely branch today where we have eaten many times before. Terribly slow service with us waiting over an hour from ordering to pizzas arriving. Other tables who arrived later received their orders before us. It was not particularly busy but when I enquired about our meal I was told a number of people had ordered at the same time (not a huge surprise as it was lunchtime!)
When food finally arrived one of the pizzas was wrong. We had ordered a Marry Me pizza and the waitress had even explained they were missing an ingredient but we said that was ok. Then she delivered a BBQ pizza instead. The chicken Caesar salad had 3 pieces of chicken in total and loads of croutons. Very disappointing and very expensive! We went elsewhere for dessert!

Waited 15 minutes, no one came. Member of staff came to clear tables. We asked if we could order and was told" wait a minute ".
Baring in mind this restaurant wasn't busy!!!
We were the only customers waiting.
Have used this restaurant as we are locals so expect a wait as very busy usually. Shame because it's a lovely view from the terrace in Falmouth.
Gutted as missed my fave pizza.
We left and went to Harbour Lights..great service, friendly staff.

There are many better outlets offering better quality,bigger sizes and cheaper .Pizza express really need to up their game! Disappointing,never again!

Bottomless Pizza promotion

I paid for 3 bottomless pizzas and 2 kids meals

Manager refused to give me leftover boxes for my remaining pizza accused me of sharing my dough balls with the children.
I would like to add the Manager named Naz accused me of ordering my last pizza with the intent of taking it home. My receipt is stamped 2.25pm and our time was until 2.35pm. All food had arrived by 2pm how is this ordering to take home? She didn’t serve me my cutlery got our dessert orders wrong and this is somehow my fault. Overall she is a prejudiced petty woman who needs some training in professionalism to leave her own prejudices at the door. She saw a Muslim woman in a headscarf with her young children for whole she ordered kids meals and decided to revel in her ignorance and prejudices. Well done for hiring such ignorant nasty staff!

Very disappointed with my recent visit to PizzaExpress Salford Quays Designer Outlet on Sunday 19th July. The service was extremely slow from start to finish, despite the restaurant not appearing particularly busy when we arrived. We waited far too long for our food to arrive, despite having preordered earlier in the day.
What was most frustrating was the lack of communication from staff. There were no updates or apologies for the delays, which left us feeling ignored and undervalued as customers. When the food finally arrived, the overall experience had already been spoiled by the excessive waiting time.
I normally expect much better from PizzaExpress, but this visit fell well below expectations. Unfortunately, poor and slow service overshadowed the whole meal. I hope management takes steps to improve staff attentiveness and service speed in the future. Sadly, I would think twice before returning.

Hi, apart from food, the service was below standard in Ashford outlet area.
The staff was taking an ages in taking order and forgot to bring plates, glass and deserts. And when we reminded she simply said “Sorry” three times- Infact it took 10 mins to bring cheque. It is not good to take her name here.
One young staff member was avoiding us in case we prompt him to take orders as if I was asking him to return my money-
My family was not impressed and still miss Nando’s world class customer service-
Improve it, give training as people should feel better welcomed, once a customer is lost in the food industry, difficult to bring them back. Unfortunately you lost a customer and feedback to their friend-

No wonder pizza express shouldn’t go to Pizza Hut way-

This has been a family favourite for years. It was our late father-and mum's lunch spot when my late father was alive, and now it's somewhere I still love taking my mum. The food is always fantastic, the chef has been there for years, and the atmosphere never disappoints.

A massive shout-out to Ashley, the manager at the Chiswick branch. She patiently guided me through an online booking, recognised my voice when I called, and even wrote a handwritten note on our pizza boxes wishing us a lovely day. It was such a thoughtful touch that made us both smile.

Ashley always greets everyone with a smile and consistently delivers outstanding customer service. It's little acts of kindness like this that keep us coming back. We are incredibly loyal to the Chiswick branch because of the wonderful service you provide.

Friendly polite staff. Terrible coffee because of the lack of a good quality gaggia machine: the Buddha bowl was very poor value for money, mainly spinach with a little feta, two pieces of tomatoes,some beetroot and about two spoonsful of grains.

We visited Pizza Express in King's Lynn. Our hostess, Sandra was friendly and full of happy smiles. The atmosphere was good, the food excellent and well priced, and the service was marvellous. Will definitely visit again.

Neurodivergent nightmare. Brought my boyfriend here for his birthday, surrounded by screaming children. Waited 20mins for a drink and initially denied an app voucher my boyfriend had for a desert because he was unable to understand the app instructions. Waitress was nice enough but not very clued up or able to help people with ld&a needs. Whole atmosphere overwhelming and triggering. Would be interested to see the nd/ld&a risk assessment for safeguarding us is met.

Amazing service, great staff and management. Clean, cool and comfortable on ean extremely hot day. Ollie, was welcoming and a great host to my friend's, daughter's birthday party. The kids loved him. He was entertaining, informative, caring and fun.

Will be booking in very soon

Had a lovely afternoon at Braintree pizza express….. our waitress Mandy was fantastic….. very helpful, gave us guidance with using our app’s as in a techno dinosaur lol……. Our niece’s birthday….. she asked her if she would like them to sing happy birthday- she didn’t want it….. Mandy asked if she could put a candle in the ice cream for her and sing quietly…. This was accepted and no tears….. thanks Mandy…. Definitely be back to see you. Excellent service.

We ordered for delivery as a treat for the first time in a while and what we received shocked us.

The pizza must have been cut with a plastic spoon as it was not cut well or easy to pull apart. But the worst part was the Polenta Chips which cost £6.45… we did not even get 8 whole chips, the portion size was embarrassing. Surely when they were placed into the takeaway container they looked sparse and the person placing them in knew how embarrassing this looked.

Disgraceful portion sizes and massively over priced.
