Don't bother using the free MOT after purchasing a car here. Do not trust the mechanics. Paying 10k for a car then within 11 months fails first mot and extra advisorys, baring in mind not any advisorys for past few years from same garage until someone actually bought the car then 1k worth of work at first attempt to fleece you. Got the work done with them to get it through the MOT as was desperate for my car back. But the adviory of rear brake pads advised to be done in 1 month. Went to my trusted me mechanic to change them and he said I could of got at least another 20k out of them, so another 2 years!
I emailed them to say I wasn't happy with having to spend all that money within 11 months of getting car. I was told average person only does 7.2k miles a year and I did 13k but they would look into why not 1 advisory last year yet the arms were severely worn with 11 months yet nobody got back to me.
Just would not use this garage again, especially if your thinking of a service or MOT

I purchased a car from S G Petch. Gary Maughan was the person who served me on 13 May 2026. I received excellent customer service and Gary took time to explain everything and also called me to see how the car was going. I would definately recommend SG Petch at Skippers Lane in Middlesbrough.

The experience i received from Tony Hill was absolutely brilliant from enquiring about the car and collecting my new car nothing was a problem also I must mention the Girls from the office 5 star service well done and also Carol on reception nothing is a problem for her.

From the initial viewing of the cars, test driving the cars to purchasing the car and driving away with a new BYD Dolphin, I couldn’t compliment the staff involved highly. Both Ian Cooke and Kieran gave excellent advice and very helpful. Will certainly recommend to family and friends.

Have been using s g patch many years for my services. After getting a new front shock absorber fitted incorrectly I have complained every service for 2 years. Never been looked at and to be told I would have to cover all costs. Last service was a joke was told my tyres were getting low down to 4 millimeters quite surprised as the day before they where put on brand new.asked for a manager to contact me about the sloppy service. Still waiting on this to happen over a month ago .what a joke .

Had to return vehicle to dealership for small amin problem, identical replacement vehicle delivered and was full of fuel ,paperwork sorted same day, and when I picked up my car it was cleaned and had a full fuel tank, great customer service, thanks to Alan in Mazda sales ,very happy!

I simply went to an appointment with Lewis to discuss how my PCP was going, as I was roughly half way through the plan. Two days later I had a brand new car!! No pressure or hard sell, just a good deal. My last few cars have been purchased from SG Petch and I've always been happy.

Had a fabulous experience when buying a new( 3weeks registered by Petch with 10 miles on the clock) Kia Niro with a good trade in value on old car.

Following the receipt of a recall notice fro Hyundai Motors, I phoned SG Petch at 08:35 this morning to verify if in fact my car required rectification work and was told that Service Reception would ring me back.
After waiting for over an hour I rang back and was told that they would ring me back in due course.
It is now over 5 hours since I first rang and have still not had a call back.
Not good service at all, only appear to be interested in selling cars - not providing even reasonable after sales service. This is not my first time in trying to get through to Service Reception.
Incredibly SG Petch can reply to a Trustpilot review before you can get a callback from them. It is now over 26 hours and still no callback.

The staff were friendly and very helpful and responsive. They gave our little grandaugher a colouring book and crayons on our first visit, and she loved it!

The sales person, Tegan picked me up at Darlington station to collect the car, and everything went smoothly

First class service from first phone call to collection of car at Durham branch. Travelled up by train from the midlands, picked up at train station and taken to collect car. I have bought many cars over the years for around the country. I can honestly say that salesman Ray was an absolute pleasure to meet and do business with.

My car was sent to SG petch for repairs as it's a nissan approved repair centre. I took my car to SG Petch with a gearbox fault, and the overall experience has been extremely frustrating and disappointing.

They kept my car for over a week and eventually told me the issue had been repaired. However, after collecting it, I only managed to drive around 8 miles before the exact same fault reappeared. I was then forced to drive the car back to the garage in limp mode, as the RAC would not assist me in that situation. This was both stressful and completely avoidable if the problem had been properly diagnosed and fixed the first time.

When I returned to the garage, the response I received was very indifferent. There was little sense of urgency or concern, which is not what you expect after a repair has clearly failed almost immediately.

Communication throughout the process was also very poor. It was extremely difficult to get in touch with anyone — calls would either ring out, get redirected to the wrong department, or simply go unanswered. Promised callbacks were not made within any reasonable timeframe, leaving me constantly chasing for updates.

To make matters worse, the first hire car I was given had previously been involved in an accident, something I was not informed about. I was actually stopped by the police while driving it, which was an embarrassing and stressful situation that could have been avoided with proper checks and transparency.

Overall, I have very little confidence that the original issue was properly fixed, given how quickly the same fault returned. Combined with poor communication, lack of accountability, and the issue with the hire car, this has been a highly unsatisfactory experience. I would not recommend SG Petch based on this.
