Was a very long and stressful situation for us. We didn't know what we got ourselves into when purchasing a Jersey cat S car (thinking that being Jersey won't be hard to get it registered). Ship my car helped us with the procedure. It wasn't easy for either of us.. several months of chasing DVLA resubmitting our case to them and so on. By far I can tell I would have gave up long time ago but Ship My Car really tried their best and today we had the confirmation that the car has a Reg No. We are very happy and although sometimes you, as a customer, think it's the company's fault.. in fact it's the DVLA who's holding things back and giving you a hard time.

We've been using Ship My Car UK for several years and have recommended their services to many of our members - flawless service and professionalism with regular updates as well as constant stream of photographs detailing the condition of the vehicles throughout- from MK to LA or anywhere in the world, SMC are spot on every time

I imported my vehicle from New Zealand and used Ship My Car to help facilitate testing and registration on arrival into the UK. Nick and Kingsley were great to deal with, kept me informed and did all they could to help speed up the IVA and DVLA aspects of the process which too a lot longer than expected, but was out of Ship My Cars control. Fantastic company and I would recommend them if you are importing a car into the UK.

Very slow, too many mistakes.
Told 3 to 4 weeks, ended up being 17 weeks.
Just paperwork to register new vehicle from Germany.
Their quote for shipping doubled in price when I asked them to confirm it, so I drove it back myself.
Had to cancel plans for new vehicle several times, now too late. Would not have proceeded if I had known in advance.

In response to SMC reply:

That is not correct.
The price you quoted for shipping the vehicle was originally £1500 but doubled to about £3000 when I was going to take you up on it, hence I chose to drive it to the UK myself.
The first 2 weeks were wasted as the person doing the VCA & DVLA applications was away and nobody filled in for her.
You then submitted an application where the description did not match the description you had already supplied for Customs/VAT. The authorities wasted several weeks reaching that point then another 2 weeks posting it all back to you so that you could correct it. Then you failed to have sufficient funds in your account to pay the tax, so once again the authorities wasted several weeks reaching that point then another 2 weeks posting it all back to you.
Granted DVLA & VCA are extremely slow and do not appear to be able to use email to speed the process, but it was your mistakes that exacerbated this. Furthermore, you should have been aware of their delays when you quoted 3 to 4 weeks which I relied upon.

I couldn't fault this company at all. From start to finish SMC were attentive, knowledgeable, professional and helpful. They pretty much think of everything that's required for an easy process. Special shout out to Kingsley and his exceptional support, knowledge and patience. I'd give them 10 stars if I could. Thank you SMC.

From initial shipping, tracking the ship across the ocean, receipt to the workshop, all the work they did. Some delays beyond their control -IVA etc, but well communicated and taken care of .

End of the story, car delivered to my house, in perfect condition and runs great :)

SMC provided a really easy Customs and NOVA declaration for my privately imported car. They couldn't do enough to help me and I was able to talk to a real person with ease. Highly recommended!

Since I couldn't give 4.5 stars - 5 stars it is...
I had an Audi Q5 shipped from South Africa to UK, quoted time frame was 12 weeks from collection, it was ready exactly 15 weeks later - no fault of SMC with DVLA taking more time than they had quoted to actually register the car and shipping delays out of SA.
The whole process was fairly smooth and effortless, initially quoted for RoRo, but since those where no available it was containerised. This seemed counterintuitive to me as I was based in the port city that the vehicle would eventually leave from, but needed to be packed in JHB some 600km away. The hassle was all taken care of, my car was fetched from my door, stored, packed, photo's sent, and then I could track it online all the way to London.
Only reason I would give half a star less is that there was a long period of communication silence between car being collected and it being shipped - I needed to chase regularly and ended up staying in touch with the South African export agent for updates.

Every time I dropped an email or called the office I got a response almost instantly, and getting my car back in the UK was definitely a pleasure!

Very professional service. Reasonable price. Our car was arrived from Hk to Uk perfectly. Very Responsive and actively refund the non necessary option service (very surprised)!

I have now used Ship My Car, at least 7 times, including shipping from the US, New Zealand, Australia and most recently, South Africa. They have made the process completely painless each time, nothing has been too much trouble, including handling the UK registration process. The portal is superb, easy to use, and makes for fantastic communications. I cant recommend them highly enough, and they will always be my go-to company for moving cars around the world.

Excellent service from start to finish. Always promptly responded to emails/phone calls. Completed all the necessary modifications to my car to comply with UK regulations, dealt with US agents, shipping company, customs and DVLA seamlessly and provided a useful private portal for uploading documents and checking on progress. I would just like to say a big thank you to Nick, Kingsley and the Team at ShipMyCar. In such difficult times they have really made what could’ve been a protracted process very simple and seamless. A 1968 classic mustang that was shipped in September from the USA will shortly be ready for transportation to me in the NE of England. The team were always incredibly proactive in responding to any emails and general queries, and their online portal was regularly updated to enable me to track the journey from start to finish. I couldn’t recommend them enough. Thank you.

Got a quote for 2 vehicles imported to the uk from south africa .. Quote states collection of 2 vehicles in Bloemfontein to Johannesburg depot (south africa)
Loading of 2 vehicles into container Johannesburg ...
transport 2 vehicles from Johannesburg to durban ( which is the shipping port ) ..etc etc ..paid the quote .. Ship my car contacted the seller of the vehicles in south africa to arrange collection..everything was running like clockwork up until recieving a phone call at 4:55pm on a friday afternoon telling me they had only quoted me for 1 vehicle.. Even though its all in black and white on the quote stating 2 vehicles on every step at every destination ...they then tried to charge me a lot more money and when i questioned it they had nothing other to say apart from we cant do it for what we quoted you ..the quote is only for 1 vehicle ( even though it says 2 vehicles every step of the way ) .. Absolute joke of a company stay clear !!
