Terrible app
Terrible app. I tried to open just a savings account and it's been stuck on "verifying your details" for 5 days now. Wish I'd read the other reviews before starting.

Terrible app
Terrible app. In order to add money you have to connect it to your bank account. Every time I did this it failed. Tried across 2 different banks and each time failed. Deleted the app after trying multiple times.

Hi Clarence, I’m sorry you had a frustrating experience connecting your bank to your Sidekick account. We use open banking verification as part of our identity verification process, but occasionally we see errors from certain banks when their APIs are not working as expected. We appreciate this is not idea and I can see how this would have driven you to delete the app. We hope you’ll check us out in the future.
Anxiety-inducing wait for your money to appear
Transferred some savings across due to them offering a better rate, and despite there being a delay of up to a day on interest, the money was always visible to me. However upon then transferring over a large amount, they suddenly blocked the transfer, pending checks. The money is not visible in my account, it has simply vanished from sight. I sent them the documents they asked for, and have not heard anything now for 3 days, despite me chasing them. This is anxiety-inducing - have I lost my savings? They won't even reply to the online chat. Barclays warned me this might be a scam and now I am wondering whether it is. I'm extremely worried about where my money is, and even if it does show up, this is a pretty disgusting way to treat your customers. I predict they won't last long if they continue like this, and I suspect I may have to contact the financial ombudsman soon.

As a regulated business we sometimes need to do some additional checks on the source of funds - this happens to a small proportion of our customers but is there to protect our business and meet our financial crime obligations. We have taken your feedback on board and have since improved the design of our app to show funds that are in a pending state. Your note was much appreciated and we hope that people don’t experience the sort of anxiety you did in the future. Really sorry this happened to you.
Not a great experience as a "founding…
Not a great experience as a "founding member". After transferring money into a savings account with Sidekick it's held in pending state for over a week and yet to be released or returned. Not impressed with the app and lack of transaction detail, not knowing when or how much interest is being paid. In app communication is poor, having to chase rather than be provided with updates. Will consider closing and moving elsewhere.

You cannot link a joint bank current account
Cannot use joint bank account as linked account. Therefore of no use unless you have a sole account.
