I found this online course extremely helpful as a beginner in DSLR photography. Each lesson was well constructed and informative. The test as the end of each lesson and photo assigment helped show an understanding of the lesson. I liked that I could progress through the course at my own pace with no time contraints.
I felt by the end of the course I had a much better understanding of the principles of photography. Also being new to using lightroom I found those lessons extremely helpful. I really enjoy the post processing of my photos and will continue to learn more in Lightroom and Photoshop.
I found Mark's comments on my assigments very informative, helpful and encouraging.
In summary this was great value course for the money that I would not hesitate in recommending to anyone, it has certainly been of great benefit to me.

Having only taken up digital photography just over a year ago I had purchased DVD courses but these never gave me the opportunity to have my photography knowledge tested and the resulting pictures critiqued.

The Image Academy provide an excellent array of courses for all ranges of photographers, the course material is presented in a very professional and easy to follow manner, it guides you through all aspects of photography including using post processing techniques, each module has a practical assignment to do and these are all combined for your final submission, throughout the course you have access to a range of help from the forum or by contacting The Image Academy and they will assist you with what ever you require.

Once you have completed your practical assignments from the modules you will receive very thorough feedback on your pictures and a pass or fail mark.

I can say honestly that my photography has improved from using The Image Academy and I would certainly recommend their courses to any photographer who is looking to develop their skills and knowledge and receive professional constructive feedback on their work

I have been into photography for a number of years and was completely self taught with a lot of trial and error along the way. The course was brought to my attention by a friend who had signed up so i thought i'd give it a go too at the discounted price. What more can i say that has not already been said.
Even as an experienced photographer i found the course useful with information on a camera's sensor, bit depth, printing and processing techniques that i did not know before. All modules are very well presented and laid out whilst being full of the information needed progress your photography. Connie and Mark are on hand to provide support when it's required and were always quick to reply. Feedback on submissions is always constructive, personalised, encouraging and again very well presented and laid out.
Great value course particularly for beginners and even as a more experienced photographer i found it has helped me to move forward and produce better quality images. I enjoyed the course and tried to challenge myself to produce the best i could and i'm glad i did because i can see the improvements i have made along the way.
If you are thinking about doing the course. Go for it, i'm sure you will undoubtedly enjoy it and improve your photography in the process.

This course was great value for money and the best thing I could have done to better educate myself in photography.
Due to changes in my circumstances getting time to get out and about is difficult.
But spending the time that I do get away planning and making pictures is a great way for me to escape.
Being able to do this course online gave me the insight and direction I needed to progress from a beginner.
It wouldn't have been possible for me to attend a course with time constraints.
But I was unsure as to how much could someone learn from a generic online course!
This course did not disappoint. With the way the content is provided you learn at your own pace.
And with no deadline you can take your time.
The tutors are very accessible should you need any guidance which really makes you feel part of a group, not just another person doing another course.
If your even considering this course, just do it!

I used the image academy online course as it was easy, cheap and suited my needs. I am already quite an established photographer but as I am self taught and now want to start working with the public to do more portrait shots, I feel I need a piece of paper to say I can do what I do. I have really enjoyed the course especially the editing of photos using Lightroom as I didn't use this very much before. I have learnt so much about shooting, camera sensors and taking and editing pictures that I really didn't know before. This course is for anyone with a camera so you don't need a DSLR to take the course. A relatively good point and shoot will do if you are considering the course. This was great value for money and at the end they publish the work on there Facebook page so it's a bit of free publicity and constructive criticism for you. Don't think about it, Do It.

Up till now my photography was taking holiday snaps with a point and shoot compact camera. I was always disappointed that my photos didn't reflect the scenery I saw. Once I retired I decided to purchase a dslr and went on a basic course... it was so technical that I was more confused after the course then before! I saw The Image Academy advertisement for the 17 module course at a reduced price. I wasn't sure what to expect but Ive learned loads. Mark has been really supportive and helpful and answered all my queries quickly. Post processing was something I had never really got to grips with but the 2 Light room modules were great and Ive now got something to refer to as I get more used to this side of photography. The personal assignment pushed me to try things I hadn't done before which was exactly what I needed. To anyone thinking of doing this course I say go for it, its well worth the time and effort!

I've taken photos for years, got my 1st SLR at 21 and eventually went digital. Never took any formal training courses though. That is until now.

I saw the discount advert on Facebook, then the reviews on here and finally took the plunge. I don't regret it at all. I've learnt lots and being able to get honest feedback on photographs that I have actually taken has been amazing.

I thought I knew a lot and to be fair I did, but the extra background information here has been outstanding. White Balance? Something to be left on auto. Not anymore! It's now a way to completely change the feel of a picture when you take it. ISO? Auto obviously, well actually no again.

I feel so much more confident about taking full manual control of my camera and spending that time that is truly needed to get really great pictures.

Lightroom? Another 1st for me. I've played with the automatic function in Apple Photos, but this is taking it to another level.

What I really liked was the assignment challenge at the send of the modules. Go out and practice then let us see the best of what you took. Nerve raking, but great to have professional feedback and to be shown what you can do to improve your pictures that little bit more.

If you are just starting out or have been taken pictures for a while then I recommend that you seriously consider taking this course. The resources and staff are great and you won't be disappointed. Thanks for everything.

As a complete amateur I knew I liked taking photos and I knew that I loved great photography by other people, but it was difficult to know how to improve. A quick youtube search is a rather scattergun approach I have found personally.
I had seen courses online which typically were out of my price range and without any real evidence that they came with any substance.
My other half pointed out the Image Academy advert from Facebook and at the price I literally had nothing to lose.
The course interface is practical, professional and helpful. the broken down assignments made you focus on each element, allowing you to get a much better grip of the ideas. There are no deadlines, I worked through the course over perhaps 9-10 months.
The feedback has been wonderfully encouraging. I cannot recommend highly enough even if it were 10 times the price. If you seriously want to learn more, engage and participate in a practical course, this is the one for you!

Best part of 50 years of taking pictures but this course helped my transition to photography. Mark and Connie blend obvious ability with an honest and friendly approach which makes learning with them a joy.

The fact the course is so competitively priced adds further appeal to a Yorkshireman.

I have been a casual amateur photographer for some years with no training to speak of. I had been fumbling around YouTube videos and a couple of other online resources but not really getting anywhere.

I realised that to improve I needed to do something that had a structure to allow me to learn properly, so I started my search for a suitable course.

If you are like me and started looking then you will realise like I did that there is a confusing range of courses out there and its difficult making a choice. I am not the best at decision making and I procrastinated for a few weeks before choosing the image academy.

A couple of things swayed me and one was I realised that quite a few courses were not from a UK company and I was worried about support if I needed it. I also worked out that the Image Academy only provide photography courses and the tutors were themselves professional photographers too.

What a good choice I made as I have learned loads from taking this course.

I am a visual person and a couple of courses looked a little dull in the way they were displayed. This course is very easy to follow and I like the way the structure takes you through every part of taking photographs, shooting modes, creative techniques and editing too. It covers EVERYTHING and the value for money is incredible.

I can honestly think of no better way I could have improved my photography.

The tutor support has also been excellent and every time I have contacted them I have always had a quick reply to my questions and there have been quite a few!! Sorry! :)

I was also unsure what kind of feedback I would get on my submissions (12 pictures were required to be sent in for assessment) and I was really happy with the guidance and tips on how an image could be improved and also letting me know what I was doing well.

All in all this course has really helped my confidence in every way and I cannot recommend this course highly enough.

Having been taking photos for the last two years, I decided to take up this course for beginners to experienced amateurs. (Classing myself somewhere in the middle)
It definitely taught me some things I didn't know, including being more confident with not relying on Auto White Balance, some of the features in Lightroom and checking my histogram, in camera, and while processing raw files.
For beginners this is a great course, especially for the price. It explains everything easily and is far less painstaking than learning through trial and error.
For people who already have some experience, it is great for the little things that you don't already know, that in turn make a big difference to your photography, as well as giving you the practical assignments to work on to to fulfill your photography fix.
Tutors are great, and quick to respond when you need them.
Great value for money, and a certificate at the end. :)

I spent a considerable length of time researching various online photography courses. I decided to go with The Image Academy. Initially being skeptical that the course would offer everything I was looking for given that the special offer price was at the lower end of the price scale. However it still seemed to offer much more than the rest. The course modules are well structured and cover a wide range of learning outcomes without being too overwhelming. There are also numerous practical assignments to try out and consolidate new skills. Mark and Connie's feedback and encouragement throughout has been constructive and helpful. I've just completed the first set of modules and will definitely be carrying on with the advanced courses. Would not hesitate to recommend this course to anyone looking to advance their knowledge of photography.

This was my first online course that I've taken about photography. I was uncertain what I would get from it; after all there are many free-resources on the internet (of varying quality). However when this course challenged me to use certain features in isolation, I found I really got to grips with the independent features like aperture, ISO, and shutter speed, not to mention a greater understanding of the skills in effectively composing my shots. Using the camera now makes greater sense altogether!
Also with a feeling of "obligation" (in the best sense) to undertake the tasks (as I had paid for the course) it provided me with a reason to take a special trip out with the camera on a weekend, and to get away from the humdrum of weekend chores!
The course content was clear and concise, and even though I'd read a lot of the internet freebies beforehand, there was always something new and of interest within the modules.
The final assignment (the topic was unknown to me in advance) was an exciting challenge when it came through (monochrome photography), and forced me to consider further different elements and styles of photography. This assignment was very enjoyable. I think we often produce better results knowing that the final product will be constructively critiqued. Queries and questions were answered quickly and clearly, and I always found Mark and Connie, the course tutors, to be very helpful.
Would I buy this course again if I could go back in time? Yes, I would.

Like many others I was a little sceptical of this course given the large discount on offer.
I was looking for a learning package I could use at my own pace and fit around my full time
Shift work.
The Image Academy appeared to fit the bill. I was not disappointed.
Having upgraded my DSLR I now wanted to Learn how to use it away from Auto Mode.
This course has helped do just that, along with the basics of post processing the modules are
informative and well presented. Do follow the instructions and don't rush things ( Guilty ) if
you do, you will make silly mistakes I know I did as I'm sure some of the test result's show.
Its not a race so take your time and you will gain so much from the very accomplished tutors

Support if required is first class with very quick responses.
The feedback from the assignments is both helpful and encouraging pointing out the things that
could be improved or any mistakes that may have occurred.

I find this aspect so helpful given that photography is such a personal taste, whilst not always aiming
to take pictures that will please everyone, it is nice to have constructive feedback.

The idea of the forum is great, a way for like minded photographers doing the course to share
ideas , ask questions, even sell unwanted equipment.

I now look forward to my personal Assignment and hopefully taking further courses that may
be available.

I enjoyed working through the series of topics coverd in the online learning modules, and feel like it's helped me gain a really good understanding of how my camera works and the possibilities of what I can do with it. There was plenty to learn in each module without being overloaded or confused! It helped me be inspired to go out with the camera and find all sorts of different subjects to take photographs of. The Lightroom learning modules were really helpful to me, I wouldn't have known about many of the tools and features available without it.

have to say was sceptical at first, was looking to give my photography a bit of a kick up the butt, and do a course at my own pace.
There are a wide choice of courses so take your time & pick one that's appropriate to your level and also the level you want to get to.
once you get going you will find all of the modules informative, they not only help with your photography style, but also using your camera settings, plus light room editing to really boost your output.
The modules are really well structured, Course designers have really spent a lot of time making each module as accessible as possible, each module designed to push you that bit further than you thought you could go.
With Support always available when you need it. I cannot recommend the Image Academy enough. I guarantee by time you are finished your expectations of what you can achieve are greater than they were before you begin. so sign up grab your camera & get Shooting.

My photography had been bumping along with no great direction for a while and I'd been considering a course of some sort to get some focus for a while - saw this course advertised and almost on a whim subscribed given that the cost really wasn't that much. The course has been very very good, my photography has improved tremendously and I've thoroughly enjoyed following it. The support has been first rate and every query answered promptly and fully. The feedback has been positive and encouraging and I'm now looking forward to the personalised assignments that I added to the basic course when I subscribed. Really there's nothing to not like about about this course or the company running it.

I was a little skeptical when I first saw an advert on Facebook for The Image Academy photography course as it was heavily discounted. A little research and I sent them a message. They were very helpful from the outset. I decided that I would add a couple of extras, all the material on USB (as I have slow rural broadband) and a personalized assignment.

Over the years I have used 35mm film, compact digital, bridge cameras and a dslr etc and I wished this course had been available all those years ago.

At no time did I ever feel out of my depth and everything was explained clearly without unnecessary embellishments. No part of the course was irrelevant and there are lessons to learn at every stage.

Feedback on the image submissions was always constructive, well worded. I emailed about anything I needed clarification on and was very satisfied with the promptness and content of the responses I received

While I was initially concerned with being one of many students and being fed automated or generalized responses, nothing could be further from the truth. Mark and Connie must put in a lot of time responding to students questions and submissions and have made me feel consistently informed throughout the course.

I have no hesitation in saying if you are in the marketplace for a distance learning photography course, this is actually worth the full price! If you can get a discount, it is an out and out bargain.

Firstly I must say I generally don't leave reviews for things, I'm the one that reads others reviews ;)

Over the last year or so I have done a lot of self teaching with my photography to get me off that 'auto' mode, but as much as I was learning and my photographs were getting a lot better, I knew there was still so much I needed to learn or at least fill in the gaps in the knowledge I had already.

I had always wanted to do a photography course for many years but the price of courses put me off immensley, hence why I started self teaching as there was no way I could possibly afford or justify paying so much money.

I saw an advert for the image academy on facebook offering courses with a huge discount!!! I can be quite a naive person at times but I did question this, (I do sometimes have my head screwed on) ;) If something sounds too good to be true, then it generally is so to speak, so admittedly I was skeptical, I pondered over it for a few weeks and I kept coming back to the image academy page, I decided to look at other peoples reviews over the following weeks to see what other people were saying about the course/s and I could find nothing but positive reviews.

So I bit the bullet and went for it and it truly was the best thing I ever did!!! I wanted something that was structured but something that I could do in my own time and this really fits the bill. I am currently on module 5 and truly enjoying the course. I have noticed a massive improvement in my photography and so have others!! Infact one of many amazing comments I have recieved recently on a collection of my photo's was "Charlotte you have arrived, you are a real pro" Needless to say I was so thrilled!! Me a pro? I never thought I would see the day!!

I have to also say that Connie is absolutely amazing!! Every time I have had a question I have messaged her via facebook and she has always got straight back to me, when they say with 'full tutor support' you truly do get all the support you need!! Infact I sent Connie a message a few days ago with a copy of an image I had taken for my module 4 assignment just to check I was on the right track and wow the feedback I recieved was more than I could ever ask for "Thats a superb photograph and you are 100% on the right track and you should be very proud of this image"

On a last note all I can say is, the Image Academy are absolutely brilliant in every way, I have nothing negative to say at all!! As I said previousley I am currently at module 5 but already I feel so much more confident, I can go out with my camera and shoot pictures and change settings accordingly without having to stand there and 'think' too much about what setting should I be using, I am doing it all naturally and that's what I have always wanted to do :) I can see myself doing more advanced courses with them in the future as I truly love this style of learning, their courses are designed so well that you cannot fail to learn.
