Car buying made easy
Went out October 1, 2026 with the view to look round the garages for a newish, low mileage, used Ford Focus to replace the one I'd had since April 2011. Wasn't looking to spend a fortune as we're now in our seventies and retired. We don't do a lot of miles but family live a good distance and two/three bus trips away. Anyway, looking online, my wife noticed there was a TrustFord in Aberdeen so we decided to start looking there. Arriving, we saw there were lines of 'used' cars to look at. We literally walked past perhaps less than a dozen before we stopped at a nice looking 23 plate Ford Puma. A Salesman, appeared and we got chatting. I explained we had just started looking but liked the look of the Puma. The Salesman, Michael Low, was very helpful and easy to get on with (and I've dealt with a lot of Sales people in my life). We did compare with another Puma, same price but a 24 plate. I preferred the 23 plate. Now, the gadgetry in a 'modern' Ford, for me, made it like stepping into the Starship Enterprise but with Michael's reassurance and confidence in my ability, that I myself was questioning, we went for a test drive. Very different to my trusty Focus which needed repairs outweighing it's now low value, but ran well. I liked the feel and my wife liked the fact it was higher off the ground and she could see more looking out (simple pleasures!). Though I'd only gone out to see what was available at the various garages, I found myself negotiating a deal on the first car we'd looked at and buying. Michael was very professional and helpful all through the process and the Ford Puma, I didn't go out for, now sits gleaming in my driveway. The fact you now have to look up the handbook online was a little disappointing for a 'old school' seventy one (next month) year old but I like a challenge and the learning curve will test what's left of my cognitive ability. Time will tell if I've made a good buy or not and I'm amazed at myself for having bought the first car I'd seen rather than comparing a range of cars and prices. Maybe Michael used some Hocus Focus on me?! At this date (13/10/26) I've taken the car out four times, can't believe I've bought it so quickly and easily but am enjoying it. Looking online at similar cars and prices I'd say it was definitely competetive. Fingers crossed it's as reliable as my old car - if it is I'll have no complaints. I noticed they have a lot of nice new cars as well as 'used' - so something for everyone looking for a Ford. Thanks again to Michael Low at TrustFord.
