I bought a Ventura extended tent over a year ago and last year bought the annexe. I use the tent fairly regularly when I go up to Scotland every 5 or six weeks and work for the forestry commission in the borders..I also bought the thermal liner for the tent last week and used it at the weekend and it was superb.. It transformed the tent..obviously it doesn't let light in but neither does it let light out so if you're on a campsite, you won't tell everyone you're getting undressed! It's lovely and warm, I was in my t-shirt and it was minus 5 outside..and also because the tent, by design, has a lot of loose fabric flapping about it can be quite noisy but the liner muffled the sound so that it didn't keep me awake at night when the breeze picked up. If you own a ventura tent, the thermal liner is a must and well worth the investment.

Bought it in July and used several times since.

I love my roof tent, it's easy to set up and pack away. The structure is incredibly sturdy and with the extra thermal liner it's warm even with the nights growing colder. You don't even have to remove the thermal pod to pack it away.

Compare the room you get inside this at 1400mm x 2400mm against the pop up grp expensive ones.

Fitting was straight forward as well.

Excellent value for money and William is so easy to deal with.

The annex is next purchase ...

I have owned a Ventura Deluxe 1.4 roof tent with awning and annexe for a while now but I wanted to wait until my wife and I had returned from a 12-night trip around Scotland (Skye, NC500 and Fort William) in September to leave a review. The tent has now been used for 15 nights in total, this is relevant for some of the not so good points below.
Good points:
- Great price. I did a fair bit of research before buying and, taking into account planned usage (i.e. not overlanding or expedition use, although Ventura state that their tents can be used for this) and what was included, Ventura offered the best value for money. I also bought the anti-theft bolts and the anti-condensation mattress. Total cost c.£1,200 (some competitors cost double that or more).
- Easy to install. Took two people to get it on the roof bars as it's pretty heavy, however bolting it on was straightforward. The instruction leaflet that came with the tent isn't very good however the online manuals are simple and clear.
- Quick to erect and take down. Full set-up (i.e. tent, awning and annexe) takes about 30 minutes max without rushing and one person can do it. This includes removing the cover, straps etc. (and the reverse when packing up).
- Weatherproof. Scottish weather (high winds and driving rain!) did not penetrate the tent.
- Comfortable. The mattress is quite thin and therefore hard, which may not suit everyone but it's fine for my wife and me. Also there's plenty of room (the mattress area is probably a bit wider than a double bed and is longer, and there's plenty of height).
- Little condensation. Whether due to the anti-condensation mattress or not (haven't used it without so can't compare), we stayed largely dry.
- 2 year warranty.
- Damaged awning collected and replaced free of charge (see comments below).
So why not 5 stars? Not so good points:
- A couple of the velcro straps are coming apart already.
- The groundsheet that zips onto the annexe only has 4 peg loops on it (one in each corner) and it could really do with 3 more (one on each side and the front) in order to keep it square and taut.
- The outer 'door' at the front of the annexe does not zip shut all the way round (just the sides) allowing some water ingress.
- The metal 'poles' that keep the window cowls up are fiddly to put up and not particularly stable, although I did learn that the more they are bent the better they are.
- The mattress gets wet around the edges, both because it touches the 'walls' of the tent and also when packing the tent away wet (unavoidable on our Scottish trip!). It did however dry quickly, by pulling up each end to allow air to circulate around it.
- Collapsed awning. Despite being put up according to the instructions, the weight of water that collected during one particularly wet night (annoyingly, night 2 of 12) resulted in the front metal bar and one of the legs on the awning bending meaning we couldn't use it for the rest of the trip. I was annoyed about this given the claims made by Ventura as to the durability of the product, so I emailed from holiday and got a response the next day quite reasonably requesting photos/video of the damage. I did this on returning home and was quickly offered either a new replacement or the parts to repair it myself together with an extended warranty, no quibbling at all (I opted for the new replacement). The damaged awning was collected and the new one delivered, for free, in the same week.
Also a word of caution (nothing to do with Ventura, but I would think applicable to most roof tents) - depending on the size of your vehicle you will likely need to climb all over it to set up and take down, so obviously if it's wet/dirty then you'll get wet/dirty. This didn't particularly bother me however it might put some people off, but you are camping! We have a Land Rover Discovery so it's pretty tall to start with, so I bought a couple of the metal steps that hook over the door catches so I could climb high enough to reach everything.
Overall I'm really pleased with the tent and very happy with the service provided and I can recommend both the product and the company.

After shopping around online I chose the Ventura Roof Tent for a combination of its size, materials and price.
They were really helpful on the website chat with a couple of questions I had, and I decided to go to the showroom to have the tent fitted.
The customer service was excellent, everyone there was really invested in creating a great experience for customers and really passionate about what they're creating.

Will and his team were superb from start to finish: professional, friendly and meticulous in their attention to detail. We’ve left with a fully fitted roof tent, annexe and anti-condensation mattress: bring on the road trip! Top top: use their installation service. For a very reasonable fee, you get total peace of mind that your tent is fitted properly. Faultless service and a brilliant product.

Firstly I would like to say I have no issues with the extended tent and annex combination. It worked great for a week's camping.

I paid for the tent in full on the 26 July 2023 with a verbal acknowledgement to have an invoice emailed to me as William was busy.

I have since asked in writing on five separate occasions for the promised invoice. The requests were either point blank ignored or half acknowledged.

The tent was unfortunately stolen off the roof over the August bank holiday weekend.

I need the invoice to contact the insurers. I cannot do so as William has not kept his word on supplying me with the promised invoice.

I am loath to use a public forum to resolve an issue, but I have been left little choice.

Also, to all considering or who have a roof tent - look into some form of security bolts to save you the heartache of having the tent lifted off the roof overnight like I have had.

Customer service has been great and the delivery was very quick.
My rooftop tent the Ventura Deluxe 1.4 has been fantastic and I've been out in some really heavy rain with no leaks and it's coped with the wind really well.

Excellent service and great product! I contacted William from Ventura whether it may be possible to lend a roof tent for a couple of days to see if we would like it. He quickly answered and agreed, and as we were very happy with the product we ended up buying an extended deluxe 1.4 roof tent. A really great product! We have used it in strong winds and rain and it has never let us down. Very spacious for 2 adults and a dog. Would definitely recommend!

What a wonderful piece of kit, if you're just starting out, this roof tent is fantastic. On first appearances you will probably think it is a little "lightweight" for two adults! Let me assure you I am approximately 115 kilos and six foot, and my son 100 kilos and 6 foot 4! and there was loads of room inside of the tent (1400mm) We have not long returned from a three week tour to Morocco and the Sahara desert. It completely exceeded all my expectations! It really is easy to put up and down as the video suggests ! between two of you it can be easily erected in around three to for minutes! If you were on your own maybe five or six minutes..... It really is that easy.
I am sure you're wondering how comfortable the mattress would be....... Myself personally I would give it an 8/10 I slept like a log....better in the tent than I do in my own bed. 😂
You can easily store your bedding and pillows in the close position. The awning is a great addition for some privacy whilst changing clothes etc.
Overall guys I would give this a 9/10 great build quality, super easy to put up and down, very comfortable and customer service was spot on.
I highly recommend this product.

Exceptional customer service.

2nd time ordering from Ventura, and faultless service once again.

The first time I needed to return the tent due to a rare manufacturing fault and this was sorted promptly without quibble, with a full refund issued.

Ordering a different model this second time round, and had some questions. Had excellent support over the phone and a speedy follow up to further queries by email.

The hard shell tent is excellent so far. I've made a few interior modifications to improve practicality and storage, which could perhaps be made easier by including a few fixing points in the design, but then again it's easy enough to customise yourself to your own specific needs.

Overall, a very happy customer. Cheers!

This company is amazing!
I was a bit nervous of buying my Ventura 1.4 extended until I saw one one a camping trip - I ordered mine right then. The 1.4 is a sturdy build with strong material. It's easy to pitch and take down, it's comfortable and it looks good!
The support from the company is unparalleled - I had a minor issue with a mesh panel and was immediately offered the option of a full swap.
They respond within hours to most questions, maybe a little longer on weekends/holidays but their response is consistently good and helpful.
In summary if I could give this product & company 10 stars, I would!

I have my extended rooftent 1 year now. Absolutely brilliant tent. Can easily take the West of Ireland Weather!!!! I slept in 40 -50Km gust from the Atlantic & it was perfect. Buy it, you will not regret it.

The customer service is excellent. The product, a 1.8 roof tent and annex, is brilliant. Easy and quick to set up and take down. The whole customer experience was straight forward and stress free.

I am very pleased with my recent purchase, I have only set it up in the garden resulting in a number of comments on where did I get it, how much and do they have any more.
The additional purchase of the thermal lining was well worth the money. Tent is warm and cosy, I note from my research has been a problem with other brand roof tents.
The service was great, enough for me to treat the team to a costa iced latte and a cake, hope the team enjoyed them.
