NEED TO READ
I placed an order with Wheelbase Alloys, only to be told several days later that the tyres I had ordered were out of stock. This raises the obvious question: why were they showing as available to purchase on the website in the first place?
I initially gave them the benefit of the doubt, as mistakes can happen. I was then offered an alternative set of four tyres, which were more expensive, so I made an additional payment to cover the difference.
The delivery process had already taken longer than expected due to the original stock issue, but eventually I received the wheels and tyres and assumed that would be the end of the matter.
Unfortunately, it was far from it.
Upon inspecting the tyres, I discovered that two of them had been fitted to the alloys the wrong way around. This wasn’t a minor issue — the rotation arrows on both tyres were facing towards the rear of the vehicle rather than the front, meaning the tyres were fitted against their intended direction of rotation.
I contacted Wheelbase Alloys again and was told that I would need to have the incorrectly fitted tyres flipped around myself and then send them the receipt, which they would reimburse.
This meant another unnecessary trip to have the tyres corrected, followed by sending the receipt as requested.
However, when I received the wheels back, the tyres that had been removed and refitted were covered in dirt and grease. They no longer looked like new tyres, despite being supplied as such.
I then had the additional inconvenience and expense of having the car washed and purchasing cleaning products to try and restore the tyres and wheels to the condition they should have been in when supplied.
What makes the situation even more frustrating is that, over half a month later, I am still waiting for my reimbursement and remain out of pocket.
I have had to repeatedly chase Wheelbase Alloys for an update, only to be told that the matter has been passed to a manager, Aaron Hirst. Despite this, I have still received no response or resolution.
The whole experience has been incredibly disappointing. What should have been a straightforward purchase has resulted in an incorrect stock listing, additional payment, delayed delivery, incorrectly fitted tyres, another unnecessary journey to have their mistake corrected, dirty tyres and additional cleaning expenses — and I am still waiting to be reimbursed.
Wheelbase Alloys state on their website:
“Experience: With over 25 years of experience with alloy wheels, no other retailer provides the level of customer service and support that we offer our customers.”
Unfortunately, based on my experience, I cannot agree with this statement. The level of service and after-sales support I have received has fallen considerably short of what I would expect from a company making such a claim.
I would simply like this matter resolved, my outstanding expenses reimbursed, and some accountability for the inconvenience caused.

Disgraceful service, zero communication, and complete lack of care..
Avoid Wheelbase Alloys at all costs. Their customer service is non-existent, and their internal communication is an absolute shambles.
I contacted them on 24th August asking for two specific wheel quotes. Dave Hirst only sent one. I emailed him back immediately; he ignored it. When I chased him on the 25th, he sent a completely irrelevant link for tyres instead of what I asked for. On the 26th, I had to deal with Paul Murphy to finally get the correct quote. When I went in person on the 27th, an application for V12 Finance was pushed to my phone at the counter with absolutely zero explanation.
On 28th August, my order was processed. I received a wave of conflicting emails stating my order was being dispatched soon, then that it was "completed," followed by an invoice showing delivery to my home address—despite expecting a fitting appointment. I spent 20 minutes on the phone to Russell, who was incredibly apologetic and promised that Aaron would phone me the following morning (Saturday 29th) the moment the wheels arrived. No one called. I was completely blanked.
I needed these wheels fitted urgently by Saturday 29th August to drive my friend to a hospital in Leeds every day for crucial post-liver transplant treatment. Wheelbase knew this. Because my current wheel has 4 cracks, my car was left completely stranded on the driveway due to their utter incompetence. I had to arrange stressful, expensive emergency alternative transport at a time when my focus should have been on my friend's recovery.
I formally cancelled my order in writing on 2nd September and cancelled the finance. Since then, I have sent multiple follow-up emails to their sales, info, support, orders, Dave, and Paul inboxes, as well as submitting notices via their online website complaint form. They have completely stonewalled me. Not a single acknowledgement or reply. Yet, their automated system has the absolute audacity to spam my inbox asking me to "review the wheels" I have never received.
I have now raised a formal Section 75 breach of contract claim with my credit card provider to legally claw back my £70.90 deposit, and V12 Finance has been formally notified of the withdrawal.
Appalling business. Incompetent staff, zero care for customers, and a total operational failure.
UPDATE 08/09/2026: Thank you for the apology, Russell. However, your response does not confirm that my order has been cancelled or that my money has been returned. I do not need a 'personal review' into your internal failures—I simply need you to process my paperwork. Please confirm publicly that my order is cancelled, my £70.90 deposit is refunded, and V12 Finance reference 24978907 is closed with zero to pay.

Ordered wheels & tyres over a bank…
Ordered wheels & tyres over a bank holiday weekend and forgot that I was going to need TPMS sensors. Wheelbase contacted me by email on bank holiday Monday to ask if I would like to add TPMS sensors to my order for what I consider to be a very reasnoble price which I did. Our garage suggested Wheelbase Alloys when 1 single wheel from Volvo was going to cost over £700 & fitting for our 11 year old car. Really happy with the service from Wheelbase. I originally ordered a 20-inch complete wheel and tyre package, but after receiving it I changed my mind and decided I wanted to go for the 21-inch setup instead.
I contacted Wheelbase and they were extremely helpful. Even though the original wheels had already been delivered, they made the exchange straightforward and allowed me to upgrade to the 21-inch Bola FLZ Gloss Black wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport EV tyres, just paying the difference.
Great communication, very helpful staff and excellent customer service throughout. It’s refreshing to deal with a company that actually tries to help when a customer changes their mind rather than making things difficult.
