I have been taking my dog here for over 9 years and the whole experience has gotten worse with each visit. I was quoted £600 for dental work without any indication or visit to check whether teeth needed to be extracted. On the day of the surgery I was told it would be £660. I said I was quoted £600 and they said it must have gone up since I made the appt. £60 IN A WEEK!!
After the surgery she developed a lump which they said was nothing. A week later she still had the lump which was an infection and was apparently oozing green puss. I was then charged £60 for 21 antibiotics that I could purchase for 58 pence each. They are an absolute disgrace I have never seen the same vet or nurse twice in over 9 years. They constantly try to charge for services that were paid for on a plan when she was a pup. Plus they have taken away services that were on her original plan.Hopefully she will recover from the mess she’s in and the unnecessary suffering that she’s been put through for another week because the vet happened to miss the puss oozing from her extraction site and ignored the fact that her temperature was raised.
They really have no care or consideration for the animals that they treat and I will be taking her to the vet that I use for my other animal in future

They did very well having already received over £1000 from me
The latest instalment of £119 for a 5 minute blood pressure test and told that l owed £35 for tablets that cost 4 times more than prices on the internet that l had not ordered
So my answer is yes you have done very well

I have never had such an awful experience at a vets, we took our 4-month-old kitten as she was struggling with food. She was completely manhandled, with absolutely no bedside manner whatsoever. HE KNOCKED TWO OF HER TEETH OUT giving her medicine. He then went on to say she had a MASSIVE hernia that urgently needed fixing luckily we had the good sense to get a second opinion and another vet assured us it was a small hernia that wasn't as urgent as first thought. Honestly, it feels like it is simply just a way for them to cash grab. I'm not normally negative about vets but NEVER, EVER again! I won't be going back and I seriously hope you reconsider taking your animals and it has left my cat traumatised and definitely shook me up.

2 booster vaccinations for cats + consultation fee came to over £180!

At my old vet that would have been £100.

Edited to add that I'm sure I shouldn't have been charged the consultation fee as the appointment was for the boosters and a health check which should have been free?

Took my dog for her annual booster and nails clipped. They wanted £86.00 so last year was £39.00 for her booster and £16.00 for her nails clipped. Total rip of no wonder your surgery was quiet

The vets in the Wolverhampton branch don’t seem to know what they’re doing and it feels like they’re just trying to make the most out of my pet insurance. Each time I went in it was a case of let’s try this, then let’s try that and racking up a bill over £500 each time. My concern is that while they’re only interested in racking up the bill my poor dog is suffering and not getting any better. Enough is enough, I’ll be using a vet who knows what they’re doing and who care about my pet rather than trying to make money.

White cross vets kings heath Bham, They are only interested in money , no compassion at all ! I had two dogs on their well being plan , one of my dogs very sick , struggled with them to return calls as he gradually went down hill and was admitted into a specialist hospital. Reception staff rude and lied to cover for vets. They would call for repeat perquiptions , total shambles !! So glad to move on from this vets , living nightmare. So if you are looking for a compassionate understanding vet , ADVOID at all costs .

Would like to say a huge thankyou to the vet who attended Dezzie yesterday at the Leamore branch, she was so caring,honest and compassionate to both Dezzie and us at such a difficult time, your kind words gave us such comfort Dezzie was a much loved pet and will be truly missed, so thankyou once again xxx

It is with regret that I leave this review as my vet was amazing, but the administration staff and complaint handling was the worst I have ever experienced.

After more than three years of being with this practice in Northampton I have left, leaving my German shepherd, who is in need of lifelong care to have to be moved to a different company.

Numerous mistakes were made by the admin staff and I was accused of being “non compliant” when I had actually done everything they had asked me to.

After complaining to head office, I was told new training practices were now in place and they apologised for the mistreatment, which included putting the phone down on both myself and elderly mother, the branch would not apologise directly.

Looking at the poor scores for Whitecross on trustpilot, I see I am not the only person disappointed with this company and would advise you all very seriously to reconsider, if you wish to be treated with respect, efficiently but most importantly, competently.

I had a good experience with my Labrador. He had a limp for over 6 months which the vet said was due to a sprain , after some TLC he back in full fettle now

On Thursday 27th October, my dog visited White Cross Vets with clear symptoms of a uterus infection and suffering. Sarah the vet bushed all the symptoms off and suggested giving Lola Calpol. The next day I phoned the White cross for an emergency appointment, the receptionist made out she was doing me a favour by giving me an appointment over 3 and half hours later. On arrival again, no emergency steps taken for Lola, we waited 20mins while other dogs skipped in and out of the consultation room. We saw Sarah again, who was “shocked” how Lola’s condition had declined (Lola’s condition was the same, but symptoms had become greater), It was now while Lola was on deaths door she acknowledged a uterus infection and informed me Lola was in a critical condition with a high infection levels (borderline sepsis). To cut a long story short, Lola was put down. Sarah the vet failed in her duty of care to look after Lola, it was through pure negligence that Lola died. I wil l be reporting this surgery to the college of veterinary surgeons and seeking legal advice. To anyone who loves their pets, I would avoid this vets at all cost.

Derby branch - Consistently told me the lump on my Springers leg was nothing to worry about, and that if it wasn't bothering her, leave it alone. In June 2022 during my dogs yearly health check, I once again expressed concerns about the lump which was now the length of my palm. Again, they said to leave it. I didn't feel right, and took her to another vets for a 2nd opinion. Long story short, the lump was an aggressive soft cell sarcoma and needed immediate and radical surgery. She has been through the most horrific pain this past month, recovering from her surgery. If Whitecross had investigated the lump 3 years ago, when it was egg sized, her surgery would not have been as radical. Whitecross are fine for dishing out flea and worm treatments, but do NOT entrust your pet's health to them. The fact they didn't suggest my dogs lump looked potentially sinister, makes them negligent in my mind.

I joined this company at their Walkden Branch in 2018. the first year was great, the vets were lovely, they seemed to care and they did a good job. Then in 2019 it started to go horribly wrong.

There was a noticeable decline in service and a huge turnover of staff. Every time you called it was "we don't have enough vets today" or "a vet is off sick". it was also noticeable that when you did get an appointment they were more interested in getting you out of the door as quickly as possible.

At the end of 2019 our dog presented with severe pain in the right leg. We took him in the next day and had him examined, the vet had a quick feel of his hips and said "its probably a bit of hip dysplasia" Not a thorough investigation at all. We then managed the condition with anti inflammatories and painkillers (which they sell at an extortionate price) and limiting his walks, which is what your supposed to do for that condition.

We regularly contacted the vet as his limping, toe touching and protecting of the leg would get worse. We were just given more medication each time, sometimes prescribed over the phone with no effort to examine him. Eventually after 18 months they decide to x ray. we waited months for the results because they messed up the paperwork. When they did come back it turned out his hips had nothing wrong with them. At this point, the head vet (Bethany) actually said to me "sometimes we just never find out what is causing it"

Come January 2022, over 2 years since this injury first happened we had to take him in as he was totally lame in that leg. We were told at Walkden that the next available appointment was 10 days away! So we took him to their Sale branch where the vet took one look at the dog and diagnosed him with a ruptured cruciate ligament.

We have since had it operated on and he has recovered now, although there are now levels of arthritis in that knee that are far worse than they should be or would have been had they done their jobs properly.

The response from Whitecross to my formal complaint was disgusting. Trying to claim that it could be a new injury, which is obviously laughable because that would mean that the 2 years of pain and limping was caused by something else that has magically cleared up after we have had his knee fixed.

The notes that their vets have made on our dogs account over this period are absolutely shocking as well. Vague, unrepresentative of the conversations we have had with them and missing all kinds of info they should have recorded. Maybe this is down to incompetence or by design (to protect them in the event of legal action) but it's indicative of the lack of care these people have for the animals in their care

This branch have taken on way too many patients/clients and it has compromised their ability to properly care for the animals. They care more about volume and profit than they do about giving the correct level of care. Everyone who worked through this period and was involved with our dog should be replaced for the unacceptable way they handled this issue and the entire culture of that branch needs to be reset.

Would not recommend this practice totally un caring un apologetic quick to take money from you but then dont submit insurance offers for you to get your insurance claim my pet died and I had to keep re living it chasing them up to submit insurance papers for me to get paid out once they get their money they don't care and they insist you oay it and they won't claim it off insurance they cist me on interest on my credit card through not submitting my claim

For 12 years my cat has been there, and most of the people including people who goes there are RACISTS!
I explained my problem, they never help only look for profit but dont care for the animal, if you are uncaring and RACIST.you can go there,as proof,lwas dressed with long black dress as like this and my daughter is scared of dogs, one shout at her badly and told me the certificate vet will call when she can or want.

Write cross vets is the best ever pets in the world they are very very good with all pets very very professionally very very understanding treat All pets staff are all lovely and I wouid not used any over vets well done to all who work at write cross thankyou all who work at write cross vets walmden

I can not recommend this practice at all. When your loved pet has a serious fracture and you are told we are closing in 5 minutes so you will have to phone the emergency, doubts begin to surface.
Whilst I cannot fault the staff for their kindness, that is the only good thing I can say. This organisation seems to be more concerned with making money than looking after animals (in particular my dog). Whilst I am sure they are quite average when it comes to caring for the day to day ailments, a serious condition presents an insurmountable problem. With no specialist available, no scanning or X-ray equipment, my current bill for veterinary care is approaching £12,000. Had I chosen a veterinary practice with the aforementioned facilities, it might have been considerably less. If you are serious about the care of your pet, avoid this organisation.

Absolute rip off, 50.00 for consultation, then 60.00 for chewable flea tablets that are 20.00 to buy on line. They should be ashamed. Won't be going back.
