Dispute resolved completely
After several phonecalls and dispute not being resolved over five months, I finally after eleven phone calls and conversations, spoke to a lady who resolved, sorted and fully ended the issue in a calm, respectful manner. I felt I was listened to and taken seriously whilst fully resolving the complaint. Sometimes it's just a case of finding the right person who does their job fantastically! This particular lady needs a pay rise! Thank you!!
Nightmare in Elm Trees!
Visitors to Swinsty Reservoir should be aware that Yorkshire Water (YW) use Minster Baywatch (MB) to manage their leisure parking. MB currently holds a Trustpilot score of 1.1 (“Bad”), and my own experience aligns with the concerns reflected there.
Despite holding an annual parking permit purchased from YW, I received a parking charge during a recent visit. MB stated that the permit was displayed in our other vehicle, even though we moved it to the correct car around 45 minutes before travelling. I provided this information and supporting evidence during the in-house appeal.
In my view, the response I received from MB did not engage with the specific evidence I submitted and appeared to follow a standard template. Also, as we have an annual permit, YW did NOT lose any parking revenue, yet we are now placed in the position of either pursuing an independent appeal or paying a reduced penalty simply to bring the matter to an end.
I have noticed a significant number of vehicles parking on verges and in gateways around Swinsty. Previously, I assumed this was to avoid parking fees, but I can now understand why some visitors may prefer not to rely on a managed car park.
I strongly recommend that anyone visiting keeps clear records of parking payments and, if using an annual permit, takes timed and dated screenshots/ photos when transferring it between vehicles. This may help avoid difficulties if MB issues a penalty later.
Yorkshire Water’s car parking charges trial is due for review in “early 2026”. I sincerely hope the decision fully considers the overall visitor experience, cars parked on verges and the potential impact of the current enforcement arrangements.
