I had to use it for years because I did not have another option. A good portion of my province went down for more than two days. They lied about it even being down when I was discussing it with one of their reps a few weeks later (today)! They are unreliable, their customer service is absolutely horrible in many cases, they outright lie to you, and their Internet cannot be relied on.
I highly recommend that you exhaust all other options before even looking at this company. This is coming from somebody that has used it for years and never will again.
Keep an eye on your installation member, watch him like a hawk
What you need to know is I live in a RV Park and I need wireless internet, so I phoned them ask for an installation how much it would be when I got all that information. But my installer first of all put the modem an accessories on the lawn, they got covered in dead grass. And at the end of install these items were still covered in grass, had everything to set up and mounted on the top of my RV. Then I had to show him how to take an existing cable line and run my cable from the dish mount
it into my modem cuz he didn't know how. On top of that all the zip ties he used he cut the ends off and threw them on the ground behind my trailer. The top it off he had to phone for help how to start the modem find the right codes get it all ready and then I had a stepper inside for him to work on, he broke my paper towel rack right off the wall I have pictures but I don't think they're going to allow me to show them, very unprofessional installer always talking on his bluetooth to family members not happy at all...

I do not recommend this internet provider at all. As soon as it snows, you lose Wi-Fi access for days. Their response time to send a technician is completely unreasonable — often taking up to a week — leaving us unable to work online or access essential services, despite paying 4x more than any competitor.
Their pricing is outrageously high compared to other providers. The only reason we stayed with Explor was because no other company served our municipality at the time.
We’ve since switched to EBOX, which offers faster service, better coverage, quicker response times, and more generous data and speed — all for a quarter of the price.
Explor feels like using dial-up internet from the 1990s.
Don't fall for this pathetic company
Don't fall for this pathetic company! They overbill and the service goes down constantly! Canceled my service and I kept getting a bill. They advised me to discard the receiver, thats exactly how they treat their customers too! Once you get connected, you'll regret it! Go with Bell or Rogers, Xplornet is NOT reliable and have horrible customer service! You have been warned!
I just switched to starlink
I just switched to starlink and thank god I did I’ve never had such bad internet as I did with xplornet they should just close there doors there no good for nothing and just an overall awful business to deal with
Worst conection
Worst I spend more time restarting my box then actually getting to enjoy it customer service will hang up on you after waiting an hour to get through if they do not know the answer to your problem rather then helping you find the answer so you get to call back and wait anouther hour to get through
Xplornet is absolute trash
Xplornet is absolute trash. If I could give them 0 stars I would. We have had nothing but problems ever since we got their “upgraded” equipment. We have a technician come repair it every 3-5 months. They don’t care about providing a discount for the garbage service but will gladly take your money every month. The best they could do was offer a refund for the days the service wasn’t working. I don’t think the CEO actually cares about proving a service; it seems to me it is profit over people. Avoid this company and save yourself the headache!
Huge price for mediocre internet
I have been a loyal customer for 5 years, mostly because this was the only internet option I had for being "rural", they just raised their price again, so I was about to pay $120 a month for mediocre internet, I called to see if I could get a better price since I got the flyer in the mail saying they're offering new customers the service for $49.99 a month, of course they said my bill was the cheapest I could have. Not worth the head aches and they expect you to pay either $150 for a service call or $7.50 a month to avoid the service charge. HUGE rip off.
Predatory company, no way to opt out of solicitation
If I could rate them lower, I would. Predatory company that attempts to compensate for their terrible internet service by harassing rural individuals, showing up at their door several times a year and are quite pushy when you tell them you are not interested.
When I asked the solicitor to put me on a list so they would stop coming here, they told me to call customer support. When I called their (Frankly terribly set up) customer support, they wasted 30 minutes of my time on hold only to tell me that there is nothing they can do about it.
Completely Unprofessional, and wouldn't recommend to anyone, ever. I also think they pressure senior citizens into getting their service with these door to door visits, predatory and shameful.

You should avoid dealing with this company at all costs. Since there was no alternative internet provider in our neighbourhood, I had internet from this firm for three years. They raise their monthly payment every month, and they continue to harass you if you ask questions.
I emailed them to delete my account, but they still deducted money from it after I did so.
Don't allow this company any payment authority since they will charge you after you cancel and even if you utilize their service, they can bill you as much as they want.

This company is absolutely horrible to deal with. Today was a horrible experience!!! We have been with this company for five years. Thr customer service representative was pushing to do this upgrade today. The weather is horrible and we told them it would have to be another day. This person was pushy and told us we may miss out chance as a new tower is going up. They put the worker at risk as we told them it was not a good day for it. We had to plow our driveway so he could get in and rush home from our appointment. When we say no the answer is no!!; This company put all of us in a dangerous situation. In the end the technician was frustrated and told us he could not do the job due to the weather. We told him no problem as we still have internet. I spoke to a Manger and this person did not want to do anything about it. We have an appointment in May and have plenty of time. Shame on you for putting your worker and our family at risk. This is an absolute case of customer abuse. We wanted to do this when the weather was suitable and we were prepared. Now it is only a matter of time until we get a new provider that will put safety and the customer first. Customer service is severely lacking. We called a person that worked from home and she had just woke up. She ended up disconnecting the call. I can't even wrap my head around this total mess. Something is not right with this company. Someone could have been injured. This is discussing and we will be making a change.
Crappy customer service
Signed up at end of Nov last year. Was promised a $100 gift card from Amazon after first bill was paid. Going on month 3 with no gift card. Tried contacting salesman. Nothing. 2 weeks later tried contacting again, email no longer valid. Tried doing the live chat-they only help new customers. Told them I am cancelling my account and keeping the electronics.
Only worth the 1st year promotion low connection
Ok is the internet good? no. but it allows us to watch some tv. does the satellite full of snow cut internet? yes. But im not lazy ill wipe it off. My problem is that they fish customers with a reasonable price that the satellite is actually worth then after a year it doubles in price. Not worth it my cellphone data is much faster ill cancel

I have been with Xplornet for years and now they offer a free upgrade? The tower is being shut down feb 24th for my area. Patricia said I can get their satellite service for the same price I'm paying now, but of course I will lose my unlimited status. Oh yes, and they won't charge me more if I use my data, they will just slow it down. My service has been intermittent, at best all these years, so I really can't see me paying more money for the service. I can not afford $120.00 a month for, a little more data, plus tax for internet. My groceries are more important than internet. I may have to close my online shop. Thx Xplornet.

Xplornet service vs Telus Hub Red Deer
East of Red Deer AB, paid for 50mb download speed with Xplornet. Did a speed test every evening for a month the average was 6.94 for $120. Cancelled and subscribed to Telus hub 100mb download speed for $50. First week at Telus speed averaged 105mb.

8h a day everyday, $150 a month, snows 1 inch and your wifi is gone for a day, rains and your wifi is gone for a day, a grandma falls over 8 citys away? ur wifi is gone for a day, the entire company is a scam and you should not buy their wifi, if you live in a forest just get starlink.
False promises, poor customer service
Called them to enquire about internet, they told me my area was within their service area. Made an appointment for a technician, he arrived unprepared, I had to lend him my ladders and after 20 mins just says sorry you don't get a signal here. Left my ladders out and my gate wide open. I am on my phone to Telus to cancel my cancellation of services!
