Absolutely excellent very good communication with company and my car was gone same day which was not expected but worked for me I was over the moon with the service I received.

Straight forward, fast & efficient service. Gentleman that collected my car was very pleasant. Money was in my bank within a few hours. I would highly recommend this company to any body that is scrapping their car.

Hassle free. Had an old Toyota Aygo that failed the MOT on many things and was non drivable. Did the online application and offered £692. Staff very efficient and helpful as the car was shown as having outstanding finance even when it didn't! Comms all good. Was expecting a load of haggling but came and collected and full quote price paid within the hour. Very good service.

Easy, quick and hassle free

I filled in the online form, ticked all the boxes truthfully including that the car runs (just about) and got a unrealistic quote of £1,000 (you'd be trading it in to a dealer for that). The branch that quoted (they are independent companies) then phoned and after some questions dropped their offer to about £230.

I wasn't obliged to take this £230 so no problem, right? Well the problem was that I was only talking to this branch because they'd quoted £1,000, not £230. What if another branch was willing to pay more than £230?

So I declined and Cartakeback told me another branch was offering £836, still unrealistic. The second branch phoned and also dropped their offer immediately but to £250, twenty pounds more than the first.

Like before I was only talking to this branch because they'd said £800, not £250. What if another branch was prepared to pay more than £250? Same problem.

So I declined again, started the process from scratch and said the vehicle does not drive (untrue) in the hope of at least getting the best, authentic scrap-only offer. This time a branch offered £600, crazy for a car they've been told doesn't drive. It was the same branch who'd quoted £1,000 the first time and again they dropped it to £230 when they phoned.

Apparently Cartakeback's system is not good at finding you the best price because branches put in unreal initial offers to bump themselves to the head of the queue. Maybe someone on their network is happy to pay £50 more for your car than the person you're speaking to but you'll never know. In my case, the first offer turned out be £20 lower than the second.

Cartakeback will say it's because branches need to assess condition later but when I asked the last branch what condition the car would need to be in for them to honour their quote of £600, they said very low mileage with no engine or bodywork issues. But they'd already been told the mileage and that the car didn't drive so by their own admission their original offer wasn't genuine.

Caretakeback could address this by tracking how often branches drop their offers by, say, over 70%. Those gaming the system would stand out. I put all this to them over the phone and although the person I spoke to wasn't in a position to say much he was a gent.

Everything they said they would do was done to a very high standard, exceptional people to deal with.

Did as advertised, car collection arranged for the next day (I called them), money in account the next morning, friendly service on the phone and in person

Offered me €350 to scrap my 2011 toyota Auris. Then asked 3 questions. Does it run, have you key, is it insurance clear. Yes to all 3. Offer went up to €600 so I accepted. Then got a phone call from copart asking more questions. They then sent a revised offer of €250 for a car that runs and has tax lol what a joke. Avoid.

Totally misled. Input the information and given quote. Seemed good. Then accepted offer and was put intouch with another company who were given the same information and the actual quote was a third of the original. Waste of time.

Having never been through scrapping a car process before, I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was so straightforward due to the information provided and I felt fully guided along the way.
