They pretended that they were going to charge me $1, but tried to charge my card $26! They are untrustworthy.

I went to CheckPeople to get a background check on myself. After the whole process of getting the check, it said it would cost $1 to see the report. I had $30 in my bank account, so I thought I was good but my card was declined. I checked my bank account info to see what went wrong and I saw a charge for $31.50 not $1. What a scam. I'm glad that I only had $30 in my account.

Steals money from you. Signed up for the 1 dollar. Then charged me over 100 dollars. Dont waste your time. These people are scam artist.

This site is garbage, this page is useless and they are scammers. They tell you that they will count 1 dollar and then they deduct 7, then 30 dollars and so they start taking your money. Scam, Scam, Scam

I was really looking for a minus 0 star. This company keeps trying to take money out of my account. They are thieves. The information that they provide is not even accurate. Trash company

If I could give this company 1000 negative stars, I would. Don’t waste your time & money. ABSOLUTELY A WASTE. There isn’t even accurate information most of the time. I’ve been recruiting & running background checks for ages. They are HORRIBLE & won’t refund your $ even after cancellation! Don’t walk ….run. They’ve stolen 150 dollars from me at least. UNACCEPTABLE!!

I am currently in a legal fight with this company bc they keep sending me emails saying they’ve cancelled my subscription and apologize and refund me and then the next day they steal my card to charge it again

They won’t delete my card and the customer service staff is very rude , I signed up for 1 dollar service they stole 78 dollars from me and refuse to give it back

Horrible! Like the reviewer below me do not give your credit card for a subscription or you will be continually charged even after you try to cancel! Thank God, my bank cancels it for me as they have been trying every two days to charge my account AVOID!

No stars if possible. This a a fraud and ripoff. Not only do they not provide much info, everything they provide I can find for free. I cancelled my subscription and still got charged. Now I Will dispute the charges and report them to the BBB. scam 🚨 alert.

Sadly I got caught in check people.com web of thievery. I was on Michigan.gov. Some how check people overrode that website. I gave my email and credit card information. Agreed to 1 dollars for cost. Was charged for $29.17 for nothing. I called my credit card company. Fraud. I called checkpeople.com and the person asked me why I called. Just to argue with her. No refund, no apology. Sadly companies like this will continue to get away with blantly stealing.

Website said 1.00 for that search after I turned down a monthly option. I was charged the 1.00 for a bogus search, but okay, I agreed to that. Now days later, they are charging my credit card for almost 30.00. That is wrong. I look on the website for any "membership" that may be happening and there is no where to cancel it. I will be disputing the charge.

If you are trying to search phone numbers very few come up. I even tried my friends that is not a burner and it did not bring her up. It is garbage especially at the cost of almost $30 per month. Don't subscribe. Out of over 50 number searches 4 actually showed up. That is a ridiculous percentage. I did it for 3 months.

This company is a total fraud and scam. I canceled my membership before the week timeframe and they charged my account over $29 three months in a row. Don’t give them your bank or credit card information!

I am 74, and when I asked for what I believed was a one-time search, I was signed up for a "5 day trial", which I didn't understand I was signing up for. When I looked at my Paypal account, I realized they had charged me almost $30/month for two months for my "subscription". This is a rip-off, plain and simple.

On April 19, 2025 I attempted to use this company Check People on-line background report “ trial” to determine if my search person was still alive. The trial period was one week $1.00 cost. If not cancelled within one week the monthly fee of $29.17 would be charged. I entered my VISA info for $1.00 fee which my bank flagged as fraudulent and declined the charge, twice. I exited the website. My error was in not deleting all my personal data. On April 20,2025, Easter Sunday I received an urgent text at 7:15AM PST from my bank FRAUD unit asking for authorization of a $29.17 charge to my account from CKCHECKPEOPLE, Orlando FL. This text woke me up, I responded NO, I did not authorize this charge, then called the FRAUD number provided. This unauthorized charge has been blocked, a dispute file opened and the $29.17 charge remains unpaid. I did not subscribe to anything this company provides. I did not receive any background check and still do not know if the person I was searching for is living or not. In checking with the Better Business Bureau, there are currently 455 complaints filed of this nature against this company. They are a bait & switch scammer. Beware, do not use.

Scammers, will charge you $29.16 on a recurring charge. Charged them back, don't use their service.

This site should be dismantled, total rip off. Gives you very little info and no public records. Don't waste. your money

Like many other people, I was drawn in by the $1.00 amount for an initial report. They charged my CC for an unauthorized amount and I'm having to block my CC to disallow additional charges. I've contacted the BBB and Clark Howard. They used the Trustpilot logo on their website to indicate they are trustworthy but this is misleading. Don't use this service!!
