It’s Complicated is a really helpful platform for international therapists in private practice. Its community feature facilitates support from a diverse group of fellow practitioners and counteracts the sense of alienation when starting a therapy practice in a new country. The office tools further provide secure communication with clients, electronic record keeping, and invoicing; making it easy to start a private practice whether online or in-person. Overall, I’m really grateful for having stumbled upon this platform!

First therapist didn't speak English well enough to understand what I do, second one behaved unprofessionally and the platform refused to refund my money.

The platform's tagline is "Built for therapists, by therapists," and they're not kidding. There are no client reviews on the website, and no way to leave feedback on therapists for other prospective clients.

Maybe find a platform that's built for clients instead!

Probaly the easiest way to find quality therapists that speak English. As an expat and non-german speaker, this is a platform I've been able to easily navigate. I also like that the therapists in the network are diverse- you can find people from all backgrounds and as a woman of color, I really appreciated this.

Also helpful since you can see what insurances are accepted, if they do online/in person, their specialties, costs and what their availability is for taking on new patients.

I found my first therapist on this website and have had a great experience. The site is easy to navigate and offers a variety of therapists at different prices, with different styles and who speak several languages (with English and German being most common).

I've had a great experience with It's Complicated. After trial sessions with a few different therapists I found someone who was kind, experienced, helpful and flexible with my unconventional schedule. There is something special to be able to maintain mental fitness from anywhere, particularly from the comfort of your own home, or when travelling.

For a refreshing perspective for navigating daily life, I can't recommend It's Complicated enough.

It's Complicated is, amongst other things, a socially conscious directory for finding therapists. What sets it apart from other services I have used is how diverse the platform allows its therapists to be, and ultimately, that there is such a strong sense of community amongst the therapists. We can probably attribute this to the fact that the platform was made and is maintained by therapists themselves rather than people who have merely set out to gain capital from the suffering of others. Much love and appreciation to everyone at IC!

When I was on a very tiring research for a therapist, it was not until I found it’s complicated, that I understood that this process can actually also be an easy one. Would totally recommend it to everyone!
