Great customer service to correct an error
After initially having written a bad review because the compost that I ordered had contained quite a lot of scalpings/ stones, the company reacted very quickly and offered a partial refund, which I really appreciated. That is really reassuring customer service.

Ups and Downs!
A bit of a strange review. On the one hand, the quality of the product is second to none. Ordered some MOT Type 1 and lawn seeding soil with extra drainage. Could not be happier with the quality!
On the other hand, Dandy's courier network leaves a lot to be desired. Palletways failed to deliver my order on Monday last week when it was scheduled for delivery, and then again failed to show up on Tuesday - both days I had taken off work to get the garden sorted.
Spoke to Jordan, who was brilliant throughout, who apologised profusely and agreed to ensure it would be delivered first thing today (Monday again - 7 days after original delivery date). Alas it didn't show up until nearly 1pm... Another half a day lost for no reason!
On the other hand Jordan was brilliant and was happy to offer fair compensation without argument, something I genuinely massively appreciated. I will just caveat the Dandy's customer service praise by saying it can depend on who answers the phone... Jordan was brilliant and one of the lads we spoke to last week was also bang on, however we spoke to someone this morning who had zero sympathy and claimed "well it was an estimated delivery date" and told me there was nothing he could do about guaranteeing early delivery. Appreciate he may not have been abreast of the situation, but nonetheless wasn't exactly what I needed to hear.
Overall I would definitely consider using Dandy's again because the quality of the material, and Jordans brilliant customer service, was fantastic. However they need to urgently review their delivery partner for Hampshire... Excuses ranged from 'catching up on last week still', to 'the driver was unwell', and finally 'the van was loaded incorrectly'.

Won't go to any other supplier now!
Would definately recommend Dandy's. We ordered several bags of Hardwood Path Chips for our garden and although there was a slight delivery glitch it was quickly resolved by the sales manager Jordan. He went above and beyond for us especially during a difficult time for our family. Customer service second to none. We have also ordered another batch due for delivery this week and I have no doubt we will be happy with these too. The quality and colour of the chips are excellent. The delivery driver was very friendly and delivered them where we requested too no problem. I never write reviews but I felt I had to on this as it was so deserved and an insult not too. Thank you Jordan and team.

Ordered two 1000kg bags of organic topsoil on the Friday Feb 20th 2026 and booked delivery for Friday 27th Feb. Booked a day off work, and waited for the promised email notification of timings. Didn't arrive. Phoned Dandy's at 9am and asked for confirmation of delivery. Was told it was out, and that driver would phone/text with a 2 hour window. Didn't happen. Waited, waited and waited some more. 4pm phoned Dandy's to inquire where the order was and they told me it hadn't been dispatched. Tried to offload responsibility onto the courier, who I'm sure will try to offload responsibility to Dandy's. I bought from Dandy's - it's Dandy's problem. At no point during the day was I informed of anything until I phoned them twice. A day off wasted, time wasted not being able to leave the house while I waited - and they offered to waive the delivery fee - TOTAL JOKE.

Firstly, we’re very sorry for the frustration and inconvenience this caused you. I completely understand how disappointing it must have been to book a day off work, wait in all day, and not receive the delivery.
Following our investigation, the courier has taken full responsibility for the failed delivery. Unfortunately, the driver assigned to your route became unwell partway through the afternoon on Friday and had to return to the depot before reaching you.
As discussed, we offered a full refund of the delivery charge along with a priority redelivery on Monday morning to minimise further disruption, which you declined. While we respect your decision, the offer remains in place should you wish to reconsider.
We value your custom and I'm sorry that on this occasion we let you down. Please don’t hesitate to contact us directly if there’s anything further we can do to resolve this for you.

Aggressive communication and lack of respect for the reality.
Deliberately ignoring the fact that the driver is not willing to try to deliver based on an outdated not correct map ?
We received hundreds of deliveries and our neighbours also , including building a new house by our neighbours.
Never had a problem
Last year they tried the same thing and they did deliver without any issues when just accepted to try .
Absolutely ridiculous service and rude customer service.

I would first like to clarify that my colleague did not speak to you in an aggressive manner. All of our calls and emails are recorded, and having reviewed the communication, we are confident that the matter was handled professionally. I am sorry, however, that you felt the interaction came across that way.
As mentioned previously by email, the entrance to your lane is clearly signposted “No HGVs.” The sign does not state “except for access,” which is why the driver exercised caution. Had he proceeded and caused damage to his vehicle or the surrounding property, it is highly unlikely that insurance would have covered this due to the clear restriction in place. The sign remains in place and is not outdated.
We also discussed the delivery over the phone, and you agreed to meet the driver on a specific date. The courier attended on that agreed date; however, the order was rejected at the point of delivery.
Following this, I spoke directly with the depot director and arranged for your order to be delivered using a smaller vehicle, driven by the depot’s most experienced driver, on a date of your choosing. Unfortunately, we were unable to come to a mutual agreement, and the order had to be returned.
We regret that this matter could not be resolved to your satisfaction and apologise for the inconvenience caused.

Bought 4 ton of topsoil off Chester…
Bought 4 ton of topsoil off Chester branch which was full of large lumps of clay. Already had a ton from a building supplier and that was much better quality.I complained to dandy’s about the quality but they just replied with a thank you for my feedback no help whatsoever.I will never use again and recommend you look elsewhere for your topsoil.Family member mentioned they had the same experience 15years previous .

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I’m sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the three tonnes of topsoil supplied.
As outlined in our previous response, the material delivered is a natural sandy loam topsoil. During wetter conditions, even screened topsoil can bind together and form heavier clods or lumps. This is not due to clay being added or present in the product, but simply the soil particles holding together because of moisture. Once spread and allowed to dry slightly, these clods will naturally break down with raking or cultivation.
All of our topsoil is sourced from fertile greenfield sites, screened, and regularly supplied for landscaping, turfing, and garden projects throughout the UK. When laid and worked correctly, it is fit for purpose. That said, we do understand that the appearance upon delivery, particularly in wetter months can sometimes be frustrating when compared to soil received during drier periods.

I was very pleased with the service.
I was very pleased with the service provided by Dandys. The order was fulfilled very quickly and efficiently.
The person I spoke to on the phone was very helpful.
The delivery driver was also very good. He phoned regularly to keep me updated on the ETA. We live in a fairly remote rural location that is a challenge for deliveries in daylight. It was dark by the time he reached us. He patiently listened to our directions and successfully arrived. He was also very helpful in unloading the jumbo bags and placing them where we requested.
