This program completely opens your eyes

DT is the most eye opening experience for truly getting to the heart of a severely ingrained binge eating habit. I thought I was broken for so many years and had no idea why I couldn’t manage to find anything that would work to help me. DT is it. Chris is it. He empowers you to begin to love and believe in yourself again. He “gets” it. This program digs underneath all of the surface diets, workouts, other things you have tried. DT is saving me, and I couldn’t be more grateful that I found this program.

Best thing I have ever done for myself.

I joined Default Thinking when I came to the realisation that, after years of yo-yo dieting and lots of weight gain, I had developed an extraordinarily unhealthy relationship with food. I was a little hesitant, as it does require a significant financial investment, and I had already spent a LOT of money on various programs. After talking to Chris, however, I couldn’t deny that this program seemed to offer it all: health and weight loss coaching, life coaching, and getting to the root of my emotional eating. I have not finished the journey, and can’t, at this stage, report huge amounts of weight loss. But for me, it has become about more than the weight loss. It is about changing my relationship with food, helping me to overcome emotional and binge eating (my two big nemeses), and also teaching me to look at all challenges in life through a different lens, by changing how I think and speak about them. Am I there yet? Nope, I’m still very much learning and battling, almost daily, with the hold that food has had over my life for years and years. BUT I can honestly say that I feel - for the first time in my life - that I’m on the right track. I have more energy, I’m eating more healthy foods (and actually enjoying them), sleeping better, and I feel more positive about my body than ever before. It has become less about the number on the scales (so much so that I keep forgetting to weigh myself!), and more about nourishing my body so that I feel better. And even if I stay this size forever, feeling better counts for a LOT (weight loss is still the goal though… LOL). The online course is fantastic, and I get so much out of it. But the best bit is having a personal coach, with regular one-on-one Zoom sessions, and the ability to message every day to ask questions or get support. It’s a brilliant program, and I highly recommend it to anyone who struggles with an unhealthy relationship with food.

Before DT I had no idea how to manage my comfort eating

When I signed up to DT I had no idea how to eat to manage my weight and I was binge eating many times a week. Chris and his coaches took the time to explain the importance of nutrition and what to eat to manage physical hunger. I have learned a lot about state management and tools to overcome comfort eating. I couldn't be happier with my decision to start this course and my own commitment to achieving results. I love the accountability of having a coach who is ready to help me.

DT is an amazing course

DT is an amazing course. It not only looks at what you are eating it concentrates on your mind too. We all know the right things to eat but when you are not in the right head space & don’t have the right tools to help it just doesn’t work. I’ve gone from thinking & eating all day every day to just being satisfied with 3 good meals a day that are nutritious & fill me up.

This really works! Free yourself from unhealthy eating habits long term!

Chris and Marin have created a lifestyle programme that is nothing short of life changing! It honestly works and is powerful! What initially drew me to the programme was the relatable content Chris posted on Instagram and i knew i had to learn more about it.
I am a lifelong yo yo dieter, tried everything, with serious emotional attachment issues to food. I accepted this was the way it was always going to be until i met Chris.
I knew something had to change as health is so important to me and i wanted to teach my children healthy habits.

Chris is incredibly knowledgeable, passionate, professional and down to earth about his programme and guarantees results.

I was initially skeptical about the programme since i had tried everything before with no long lasting results, however reading prior testimonials and after an initial call, i decided to give it one last shot.

It is expensive but is only 16 weeks long and how can you put a price on your health which provides you with a life long toolkit?

After completing the course, I am shocked at the dramatic shift in mindset and eating habits. I am no longer at the mercy of my eating habits, i am in control! Whilst i have a way to go to get to my personal goal, i have seen so many positive changes in my energy levels, consistent food choices and my determination to carry on as i remind myself of my ultimate "why". I have more energy, my cravings have reduced significantly and i can say no to chocolate!
I now have a toolkit that i can apply for the long term without wasting endless amounts of money on diets which have no long lasting results.

What stands Chris apart from others is that he is relatable, his positivity is infectious and has been there before so really gets where you are coming from. He has a genuine commitment to helping others.
He is a hero and I will be forever grateful i stumbled across default thinking.

Forever grateful

I feel so lucky to have found Chris. He’s not just a nutritionist, he’s a life coach. I say it that way because you can talk to him about whatever you’re going through and he has the best ways for you to change your mindset. It all starts with how you talk to yourself, your goals and believing in yourself. In today’s world we need more people like him! I will be forever grateful.

Incredible mindset shift with Chris

I’ve had coaching with Chris for just over 2 months and I’m feeling so good physically and mentally! I’m happier to be me! Better self talk, setting and reaching goals, always improving my food habits and mindset. Chris isn’t about the quick fix, he works to chip away at small things that add up to the big things. It’s all about long term outcomes, which is exactly what I needed. He cuts through the extremes of diet culture and bingeing to give your mind more peace around food. The regular contact is awesome, he is always so encouraging even when I think I’ve done something ‘bad’ with food, to him, it’s never bad but a lesson or practice. His perspective is different to what I’ve heard and failed at my whole life, his plans and ideas are gems of gold that are tailored to my situation, which changes week to week. I thought I’d save lots of money not buying junk and takeaway food, which is kind of true, I’m now just spending that money on clothes! He has been a great investment in ME!

It's a unique program that has proven to be quite successful!

From the very first conversation with Chris I knew this program was for me; he is honest, friendly, professional and very passionate about health.
He knows his stuff, he has been working at creating this program for some time and it shows.
His support has been incredible and the training more than eye opening; I really wanted to control the comfort and stress eating rather than it controlling me.
So now I am creating positive forever life changes. It's like health and life coaching all in one plus much more.
I have had a very positive experience working with Chris and his team; its clear you need to put the work in and when you do in my experience you move forward fearlessly.
Im doing this for me and my children for a better future and I can't wait to progress further in the course to see all the positive changes that I've been working hard to achieve.

My experience with the Default Thinking…

My experience with the Default Thinking method has been great! It has been the guide I needed to lose weight and live my best life. Since starting DT, I have lost 19lbs and gained the confidence I needed to keep going in my weight loss journey. I'm not nervous about losing weight anymore. DT is like taking a course in school, you do have to make time and there is work to do. Chris is a great coach and breaks down the material in the courses. DT is not cheap, so he also promised that if the payments for DT became too much for me at some point, that I could let him know and get a breather (like a pause). He has kept that promise and I will continue to work through the Default Thinking method to get my dream body.

I was skeptical having a virtual health coach in Australia when I lived in the States but watching Chris in his IG stories, I really felt like he was speaking to me. Everything he said made sense even though it was contrary to everything I thought I knew about nutrition and wellness. At first, the program seemed daunting bc I would be committing to 4 months of work. But I took it day by day and it's hard to believe my journey with Chris has come to an end. He is the most supportive, knowledgeable, and gracious coach who will customize the program for you and is always available for questions, chats on IG or Zoom calls when needed. I am sad to no longer be training with him, but I am so grateful for the tools he gave me to overcome emotional eating and binge eating by getting to the source of why I was seeking so much comfort from food. I have lost 10 lbs and have maintained that weight loss for the duration of my time with him and look forward to losing a little more, as I move on my own with the knowledge and discipline I have gained from Chris through his videos and conversations. Thank you, Chris, for being my coach. I look forward to passing on what I have learned from you to my four-year old daughter so that I may set a better example for her and she may get a head start in living a healthier life from now on.

So Much More than a Weight Loss Program

My life before the DT Method consisted of ordering take out two to three times per week and giving up on myself. I used food as the solution to my problems and would eat past the point of being full on a regular basis. I felt I had tried everything before and nothing worked, so why put in the effort, and fail all over again.
With the DT Method, I have finally figured out what was driving my emotional eating. I no longer have the urge to binge eat. For the first time ever, I have transformed my relationship with food and have achieved lasting weight loss and lifestyle changes. I have dropped 2 pant sizes and can finally wear my wedding rings again!
This is so much more than a weight loss program. Chris Dasca has helped me achieve success in many areas of my life, including setting goals and really focusing on my “Why”. I have the tools to handle work stress and other emotional frustrations without turning to food for comfort. Chris is very knowledgeable and insightful, and this entire process has been fun and rewarding. I highly recommend this program to anyone wanting to end the cycle of unhealthy habits and binge eating.

Not for ADHD or BINGE EATING DISORDER

This is not a program for people with ADHD not able to keep up with the videos and especially if you have disordered eating and body image issues and you get triggered everytime he talks about weight loss or congratulates you on unintentional weight loss. Also this guy has no credentials and when I asked about it he still didn’t give me any. So I’m assuming he’s not a dietician or a nutritionist otherwise that would be listed somewhere. A lot of people have access to studies. I’m sure this works for alot of people especially that want to lose weight. But he doesn’t really ask how you’re doing on the modules or if you are keeping up just says “10 minutes a day” and shrugs it off like it’s no big deal after I explicitly said in the initial interview that I have ADHD and need help with accountability. Yeah I didn’t do them. But there wasn’t a lot of encouragement to do them either. Waste of money for me. Not a place to look for binge eating recovery. Has a weird way of trying to get you to trick your brain into not like your binge foods instead of normalizing them so they don’t have control over you.
When I stopped scheduling calls because I’m in the US and the times weren’t really working he didn’t really say anything and stopped sending me weekly checkin emails and when I asked about it he said that everyone was having issues but then they never started coming again. There was no need to help me complete this program or participate even tho I stressed in the beginning my need for help with accountability. He’s really nice but just be careful and make sure you know what kind of help you are looking for before you drop the down payment of a car on this.
Update. I think he’s getting clients to take down bad reviews or having to website take down reviews because there were two other reviews saying similar things to mine right after I posted mine and then they got taken down seems like someone is falsely advertising their success rate. After joining a program that was specifically for binge eaters to normalize your trigger foods and not focused on losing wait run by an actual dietician with a degree I am 2 months binge free. Find a program with a real dietician someone who actually finished university and is qualified who isn’t going to promise weight loss you cannot have restriction without bingeing especially if you already have disordered eating habits. You have to normalize binge trigger foods not make yourself more scared of them.

Regarding some of the key points raised in your feedback.

-Follow up and online modules-
This is inaccurate. You were checked in on and followed up with multiple times to help keep you accountable but there was no response back. There are multiple examples where you were checked in on to see if you've watched the videos or done the exercises and at times there was more than a week between responses (screenshots of the conversation can be provided). Your coach will always check in and help you stay on track to watch the videos and check in how you're doing with the exercises but it requires that the client wants to change and is engaging back with your coach. Those who use their coach get results.

-Binge eating-
DT specialises in helping clients to stop bingeing, overeating and emotional eating. We have a very high success rate with clients who are ready to change.

To do this we simply need an average of 10-15 mins/day of client participation, whether that be jumping on a zoom call, messaging your coach, watching online module, or working on the exercises agreed with your coach. You'll see from the many testimonials before this and those after this review that we certainly can help with binge eating but it does require the 10-15 mins/day. In this instance there was little to no participation and the 10-15 mins/day was not committed to. While we have excellent skills we aren't magicians and if a client gives 0 time to the program then there isn't a lot we can do.

Regarding binge foods, we help clients to include their binge foods into their day but also to change the relationship to that food. Most clients come in feeling out of control with certain foods so we work on changing your relationship to that food so you can appreciate both the positives and also see the downside of overeating and then you can make a rational decision about what you want to do and eat. You will also learn a number of techniques that help you stop the binge and break free from the autopilot.

You had success when implementing the techniques that we discussed (screenshots of success can be provided where you were at the grocery store and successfully avoided bingeing when implementing the techniques we worked on).

-Booking calls-
There is messaging support 6 days of the week with prompt response times to help keep you accountable and make changes throughout the week. Many clients make fantastic progress based on the messaging support and don't feel the need for a regular call.

Those who do want the support have the freedom to book in at a time that is convenient for them so they can get the support they need and with over 50% of clients in the US there are many times available usually starting from 2-5pm (depending on West Coast vs East Coast). You will not be forced to book in a call for no reason. If you need the support, it's there and it just requires you to use the link to book in.

-Clients with ADHD-
DT has worked with many clients that have ADHD and had a lot of success. The same principle applies that as long as a client is willing to commit 10-15mins/day then we can help.

-Overall-
To help clients change we simply need 10-15 mins/day and a willingness to change. As long as a client is willing to make this commitment we can help. Every client who has engaged with their coach has seen outstanding results to stop bingeing, emotional eating and overeating with a massive change in mindset as seen by the 50+ testimonials on here and many more video testimonials available through our website.

Thrilled with DT Method

I am so grateful that I committed to Default Thinking. Chris is an amazing coach who is realistic, patient, kind and very professional. This program has changed my mindset around food and I am already seeing results, and I haven’t worked out. It’s in my plans once I recover from surgery with my new mindset though! I’m located in the states and managed to meet with Chris weekly even with the time difference, I found this program to be incredibly flexible and customizable. I own a business where I work 7 days a week and still managed to do this. If you’re ready to commit to a lifestyle change, commit to Default Thinking! I’ve lost 40+ pounds dieting in the past however I always eventually gained it back. I have full confidence that I will be able to manage my weight after DT method!

As I started this review

As I started this review, I took a moment to think about any reason why I would not rate DT 5 stars. I can't think of anything!
First, yes this is a legitimate program. Chris demonstrates time and time again that he knows what he's talking about and he's passionate about helping people get to the root cause of their inability to lose and maintain weight loss. If you're reading this to help decide if you should take the leap of faith, take it. This is unlike any other weight loss program I've done. DT is truly personalized and you have have pretty much 24/7 access to Chris. He responds pretty quickly too! He teaches different concepts in a phased approach and they are impactful. I notice that what I am learning also applies to other parts of my life. I'm more positive than I was before DT.
I've lost 7 pounds so far, but what's more important to me is that I am creating a healthy habit. We make slow and sustainable changes which I am comfortable with maintaining long term.
If you struggle with figuring out why you can't lose weight or keep it off, this is your program. You know what you need to do, you're just having a hard time executing it. What's that about? He helped me understand why I make certain food choices. He gave me tips on how to stave off my cravings. With his help, I find that I don't have too many cravings and when they do come, I know what to tell myself to get out of the situation. I can make a plan and stick to it. Chris can help you too! If you're on the fence, I hope this review will nudge you to go with Chris. Invest in yourself. You won't regret it. This has been one of the best investments I've made in myself and I would do it again without hesitation.

Life changing experience …

I’m currently 12 weeks into a 16 week programme with Chris. I have spent 40 years yo-yo dieting and looking at short term weight loss goals and each time thinking I have “cracked the cycle”. Chris has taught me skills and ways in which to look at weight loss and eating as a long term goal without feeling deprived. He is insightful, knowledgeable, empathic and realistic. It so far has been a totally life changing experience- and I’m so thrilled I have the opportunity to work with him on changing my life forever.
