They have very good reputation however it is almost impossible to engage them on legal aid assistance regarding serious housing law breeches.
In addition it takes them a long time to reply to your enquiry (2 weeks).

Disgusted with the service i am disabled being stalked and harassed by my landlord everyday at 7 am I had not hearing or hot water for months. The list goes on. I have blood clots. I contacted Duncan Lewis in the summer for help I waited even though I been calling for weeks to be now told they cant take my case on. I have waited over 3 months now. Its cold and I still have no heating. I am scared I going to die in my house. This cold makes my blood clot my asthma is very bad also. To leave me here thinking you are taking my case is cruel. Then u just send an automated email saying u cant take the case on. My neighbours have been using you guys also and you dont reply ur not a good firm at all. And I believe you are an racist firm that only deal with certain people. Please if u need legal him DO NOT USE THEM THEY WILL LEAVE U TO ROT!!!!

We sought urgent assistance from Duncan Lewis Solicitors for a highly vulnerable individual facing eviction on 4 November 2026, with serious concerns about his health and safety.

Our contact with trainee solicitor Andre Cummings and his supervisor, Zuhal Sağlam, has left us deeply disappointed by the lack of meaningful communication and reassurance.

The individual concerned was seeking help in circumstances where time was critical. Expecting someone in such a vulnerable position to find alternative legal representation with less than two weeks remaining before eviction is, in my opinion, unrealistic and dismissive.

I understand that solicitors cannot accept every case. However, I believe an urgent situation involving potential homelessness and serious risks to a person's wellbeing deserves prompt consideration, clear communication and, where assistance cannot be provided, appropriate guidance.

What has disappointed me most is the apparent absence of humanity in the way this urgent request has been handled.

The legal profession should be about protecting vulnerable people, not leaving them feeling abandoned when they need help most.

I am deeply concerned that the failure to respond appropriately to a vulnerable individual facing imminent homelessness could have devastating consequences. The risks to his health and safety are serious, and I believe those approached for assistance should recognise the urgency rather than leave him without clear guidance.”

I approached Matthew McConville back in late 2022 in regard to potential claims against the police. My family and I had recently been bereaved and were grieving, but felt there may be a legal basis for a claim. Although I had little knowledge of which firms to approach, I chose a firm and was quite quickly introduced to Matthew, who listened attentively to the facts of the case. Absolutely shocking behaviour from a law firm, I've never known a Solicitors to be so unprofessional in their conduct, if you have an urgent case do not use these people, they have no urgency and have awful communication skills, very disappointing and actually shocking.

This law firm is crap DO NOT GO WITH THEM!! Their staff are rude and unclear of their job services, they are incompetent and just say whatever to get you off the phone. They refused to acknowledge my Subject Access Request for my own data and refused to advise another legal aid law firm that can take on my case should they not have capacity. I was lied to about receiving a call from the solicitors and then was put on hold many times throughout the call and still nothing has been achieved. I pray their lawyers are competent and dont handle their legal cases like their staff handle their customers.

Navigating a Legal Aid case can often feel overwhelming, but working with a Solicitor like William Davis at Duncan Lewis made all the difference. From day one, William provided an exceptional level of care,and genuine empathy.

Despite the case being under Legal Aid, he treated it with the highest priority. Whenever I had doubts, his reassuring response was always, 'Don't worry, ask as many questions as you need.' That level of patience and responsiveness gave me complete peace of mind.

So unprofessional, you have to keep calling them ,they ignore your emails, calls.so disappointed

I rang this morning at 9:30 over an urgent case that needed looking into asap. After speaking to a call taker and explaining that my wife and myself had been locked out of our forever home by our son and were now rendered homeless I was assured all the information that I gave would be passed to a solicitor. I called back at 16:20 to be told that a solicitor would call me back in 24 to 48 hours. Had I been informed of that at initial call I would have looked at an alternative solicitor. Thank you for wasting my day.

I sought representation from Duncan Lewis regarding a serious, urgent housing and interlinked public law/DWP matter. I approached them with a live, unencumbered Legal Aid Certificate already in place, ready for immediate transfer via CCMS.

​Despite the urgent nature of the housing and disability issues involved—and despite clear instructions provided in writing regarding accessibility requirements under Section 20 of the Equality Act 2010—the firm has provided total radio silence with zero acknowledgement or professional follow-up. Leaving vulnerable clients with active certificates hanging in complete limbo without a response is appalling client care. When legal aid providers gatekeep or ignore urgent files, it leaves individuals to face severe housing disrepair and statutory failures entirely unprotected.

Very unprofessional experience from the start.

I initially spoke to a member of staff who I found extremely difficult to understand, and the background noise was so loud that the call did not feel professional at all.

I asked to speak to a particular person and was told that they still worked at the firm. I was then transferred to another colleague, who proceeded to take all of my personal details again from the beginning, which was extremely frustrating. After going through all of this, I was then told that the person I had originally asked for no longer worked there.

This left me questioning why all of my details were taken when my original reason for calling was simply to speak to that particular person. It gave me the impression that the priority was obtaining my details and potentially gaining new business rather than answering my straightforward enquiry.

I spoke to two members of staff during the call and experienced significant communication difficulties with both of them. Combined with the conflicting information I was given, the whole experience felt disorganised and unprofessional.

Trust is extremely important when dealing with a firm of solicitors, and unfortunately this experience gave me very little confidence in the firm. Based on my experience, I would not recommend them.

I called Duncan Lewis Uxbridge branch this afternoon as a potential new client. This is a complex case involving a vulnerable person so quite sensitive. The receptionist who answered the call was quite rude, I had to repeat my name a few times and she still couldn’t grasp despite me spelling it out. She then went straight into asking me about private funding, it’s cricital that I engage the right lawyer firm so wanted to ask some
questions but this woman went straight in to asking me about private funding. Absolute height of rudeness and very unprofessional!

After a long few weeks they responds to me to tell me they don’t have capacity to take my case.

This just shows they do not care told they would call back in 48 hours called them a week later to be told why are you calling us wee will call you and then a message to say they do not have the capacity shocking dismiss with go find someone else.

Just because you don't care about child contact doesn’t mean you treat people with disrespect. Not even an apology.

After 9 weeks this firm responds to me to tell me they don’t have capacity to take my case.

This just shows the rot in this system. A firm like this can sit for 9 weeks on a request involving a vulnerable child and then just dismiss with go find someone else.

Just because you are a big name doesn’t mean you treat people with contempt and disrespect. Not even an apology.
