Honolulu Horror- I was promised one of…
Honolulu Horror- I was promised one of three properties in Honolulu for my April 2024 dates. I was bringing my grandchildren and pool and location was crucial. A month before the selected dates, I was confirmed…at another property which was not one of the three advertised and promised. When I called HGV, I was told that these bookings were “virtual bookings” and also told that I could only cancel for credit towards another property, not a full refund on my credit card. In other words, I was bait/switched.
not worth it
Full disclosure. I did not want to purchase, my wife did and I went along. We've been owners for about a year and a half and absolutely would not do it again. The resorts are lovely, but the aggravation isn't worth it. The website is absolutely terrible and you have to use it to do anything or they charge you extra. Certain resorts are impossible to get into unless you have "bonus points" Hilton head? forget it, Italy? forget it. Long story short, not NEARLY as good as they say and aggravating to the 9th degree.
Hilton Scam
We paid a lot of money to visit a premium Hawaii resort. When our travel plans changed due to a work conflict, HGV issued us a credit. We decided to go to a local beach in FL. Instead of putting us up in a nice hotel on the beach, they put us in a dump. We promptly cancelled the stay. HGV promised to issue a credit - which never happened. This organization is a total scam - void of any reliable customer service - operating under the Hilton brand. Stay away! BTW, I travel a lot with my Fortune 200 company sales job. This experience has made me avoid the Hilton properties completely. Someone at their corporate HQ should take notice of the negative comments on this forum. The HGV ponzi scheme is a boat anchor for their brand.
Unscrupulous sales tactics
I'm really disappointed with my experience with Hilton Grand Vacations. During a tough time when I was trying to cancel a trip because my mom had just passed away, a representative convinced me to buy a prepaid vacation package. They assured me it was flexible and I could use it anytime, which seemed like a good idea given my hectic schedule dealing with after-life affairs and estate matters.
What makes this particularly upsetting is that the salesperson was fully aware that I had been the main caregiver during my mom’s five-year battle with cancer and may not have been in the best state of mind when making such a decision.
But now, when I'm finally ready to book the vacation, I’ve been told the package has expired, and I need to pay more to reinstate it. This was never mentioned to me when I bought it. It feels really unfair and misleading.
I'm supposed to talk to a manager tomorrow, but after reading so many bad reviews and having this negative experience, I'm not keen on giving them more of my money. I hope this helps others be cautious and make sure they understand all the details before purchasing a prepaid vacation package from Hilton Grand Vacations.
This is a total scam
This is a total scam. They made us pay the money when we stayed at hilton and now when I called to book. They are saying we dont have dates available. Thats all. And asking me to call them everyday to check. I said is it some kind of scam. And the agent said, yes sir, you can think that way and its fine even if you review that way.
The Hilton Disgust me - scam
We paid $350 for three nights - four days. Apparently weekends were available. The salesman in The Drake Hotel, Chicago. He reassured us that the booking process would be simple, and hinted that the staff in the call centre could be difficult.
Cut to trying to book. The call centre is in some third world ghetto, and full of ignorant rude staff who outright refuse to book a weekend. Expecting you to use the days they are less busy.
It’s a con. An absolute outright thieving enterprise and I am absolutely disgusted with how low the Hilton will go, to rob hard working Americans of their money.
They should hand their heads in shame. My advice never hand over money. And use alternatives hotels until The Hilton stop this insidious racket.
Don’t do it !
If you go to one of the presentations they will handwrite info showing how wonderful the options are and what benefits there are. They will not let you have a copy of those pages so you have no proof of the lies they told. (Hint: Try to get a copy using your phone’s camera.) After your contract closes you will never be able to interact with your very nice sales rep again. No response to voice mail, email nor text. Our most recent unfortunate experience was in March 2024 in Las Vegas with Janine V.
Horrible experience
Horrible experience, they told me things were included, took my deposit, and when it was time to book, they had a change of heart. Customer service was non existent and I couldnt even speak to a manager. I am supposed to be refunded in 10 days, but based on the reviews I received it would seem I likely threw $400 out the window.
AVOID for your own sanity
We were Diamond Resorts members in the UK, the service was just about acceptable until rising travel costs made it a very expensive way to buy a holiday.
Now my wife is disabled it's no longer a useful or practical membership, we are broke as she can't work any more, but will they let us relinquish our membership? No of course not, not without paying the equivalent of three years fees in one go, we can't afford this years fees let alone another three years.
We were members of Diamond Resorts…
We were members of Diamond Resorts until HGV took over. We had no problems, now no availability of our favourite resorts and if we spot something we like they have now moved to a tier system therefore we are paying on top of the enormous annual fee.
No I stand getaways anymore and no special points for booking 59 days or less. Can’t wait to finish our membership.
Contaminated hot tub
My family stayed at Hampton Inn Broadway on the Beach from March 12 -15 2024. We purchased a marketing package which required us to attend a 'timeshare' presentation. We attended the presentation on 3/13/24. At the end of the tour we purchased a nonrefundable VIP points package for $1695. We returned to Florida on Friday 3/15/24. We had a good time & we were fine. On 3/20/24 my husband starts feeling sick. On 3/21/24 I start feeling sick. On 3/25/24 I go to my primary care doctor. She tests me for covid and the flu. Covid tests comes back negative & flu positive. She sends me to the hospital for IV fluids. I go. I have an EKG & CT scan. The doctor says I have pneumonia. I'm prescribed antibiotics. My husband goes to the hospital on 3/26/24. He is admitted. He is currently intubated and on life support. His doctor says he is being treated for Legionnaires disease (a form of pneumonia), due to being in the hot tub at this hotel. The Health department calls me on 3/27/24 to tell me I need to go back to the hospital to take a legionaires urine antigen test because I am most likely being treated for the wrong type of pneumonia. I called HGV and told them my husband was fighting for his life and I would like a refund as I am not comfortable vacationing with their company as my husband is fighting for his life & I happened to escape death. They said they would send an escalation and it will take 30 - 40 days to reach out to me to DISCUSS a possible refund. That is very heartless and money hungry. If this refund is not granted & my husband lives we will have to go on this vacation and do another tour and of course we will definitely NOT buy. Why would we want to be members of a company that cares nothing about our lives? I want nothing to do with Hilton Grand Vacation as long as I have breath in my body.
They will never stop calling you.
They will never stop calling you.
No matter what you say, or how many of their numbers you block, THEY WILL NEVER STOP CALLING YOU.
We have been Hilton owners since 2012 …
We have been HGTV members since 2012 and bought 2 more additional properties. We love it and have traveled all over the world using our points. We vacation at least 3x yearly and stay at beautiful resorts but also use our points to stay at Hilton hotels, we stayed in Italy last year for 3 weeks using Hilton. We gift our 5 kids with vacations and honeymoons using Hilton. We will be going to Hawaii in April for 2 weeks and staying in resort apartment. If you aren’t vacation dedicated then don’t buy.
Horrible Experience
Horrible experience. We purchased a Promotional package after a sales pitch in Vegas. Paid $1695 and never was able to use it. They never had availability. they would have 3 days here and there but no good dates or locations for 7 days in a row. Scam. Their sales programs should not be legal.
CROOKS and CON ARTISTS. RUN do not walk AWAY
We have been repeatedly lied to by Hilton Grand Timeshare Salespeople. Namely, we bought a timeshare from Diamond Resorts and were conned into buying a benefit that would allow us to combine our timeshares and book all in one place. We were advised that Hilton would be acquiring Diamond but were NEVER told that Hilton planned to discontinue the benefit we purchased. It was a complete bait and switch to take our money and I'm sure they have done it to thousands. NEVER TRUST THIS CROOKED COMPANY. We were invited away to an owners 'orientation,' wined and dined and then told that Hilton refused to honor the benefit we had paid for. We were told that to receive this benefit, we would have to buy more points. We were devastated and didn't know there was anything else we could do, so we paid for the points. Over and over again,. Long story short, we are thousands in the hole and STILL do not have any of the benefits we paid for. If you're thinking of buying a timeshare or vacation share from this company, do not walk, RUN away. They will put the hard sell on you but it's all a complete and total LIE you will never escape from.
Don't, Just don't.
I have been trying to just book this reservation with this company for over a year now. they are incapable of finding days that work with your schedule. I tried to book in December 2023 for the next year and they said to call back in January and there would be more available. I called back and they said they didn't have any available for at least 6 months... Also the person that "helped" me out, I think her name was Nasha, was rude, short, not helpful and down right rude
I wish I'd have read this before I…
I wish I'd have read this before I signed up. We thought we were signing up for 2 x 7 night stays, which would have been a value. But it was only 7 nights total (which could be split in 2 visits of 3 and 4 days). This means we are paying more than the normal booking rate by about $50 per night. We tried to call for more clarification within the 10 days and no one returned our calls or voicemails. I only hope that we can even use the points when the time does come.
Went to Hilton Cancun Las Vegas Oct…
Went to Hilton Cancun Las Vegas Oct 2024, 3 nights free for doing the sales presentation. We didn't buy the big plan but a smaller one, and we were promised a cruise and 7 days stay. We to this date in Feb 24 have not received the Cruise or 7 day stay. The guy that promised this was named Louie and an Arab guy. We were back in Vegas and Louie the Arab guy would not speak to us and another guy name Louie said we would get what was promised. Nothing to date. These folks at Cancun Las Vegas are LIARS, do not deal with them or buy anything you can not trust anyone at this location. DO NOT BUY INTO HILTON VACATION CLUB CANCUN Our stay was OK, but the place is very tired and dated. You can get better on the Strip in town and if you are a MGM Rewards get many free Comp Rooms, no need to visit these crooks at HILTON VACATION CLUB CANCUN.
TERRIBLE
ABSOLUMENT TERRIBLE
TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE
FULL OF HIDDENR FEES
Worst experience of my life. DISGUSTING
And you need to assist to a 2hours presentation of complete BS
You call and wait and they don’t care because it’s non refundable
I just made an account to warn everyone to NOT book with them. What a huge mistake that was
HGV / Hilton Grand Vacations for those…
HGV / Hilton Grand Vacations for those who aren’t familiar.
Let me say for starters, I went for the highly discounted vacation & honors points knowing I’d have to sit through the presentation and that is not a problem for me! This will be the 4th time I’ve done one of these with different companies, JUST FOR THE GIFT(s) / points. The presentation was fine, just what you’d expect and the reps were all lovely, UNTIL you say no and stuck to your hard no! Once that happened, the rep’s (Chris Cain) demeanor changed drastically, his boss (Jennifer something)…her demeanor changed drastically, AND a different woman who “has to sign us out” whose name I cannot even recall…her demeanor was ok then not ok! I know it’s their job to sell and they get commission, however, if toddler style tantrum throwing is their go to when they get told no, maybe this is the wrong job for them! They just don’t like when a single adult woman can make her own decisions & decide not to purchase, just because she can and it was even worse for them that I could not be convinced and controlled! I never plan on purchasing these, and I only went for the hilton honors points! I’m still highly entertained at how pissed off they all were when I didn’t cave! It’s sad to watch adults behave like that but it was also hilarious and it did NOT disappoint! “The trash takes itself out EVERY TIME”! Would I do it again for gifts or points? Absolutely! Will I purchase? Absolutely not!! Also you cannot hold someone against their will and they try many tactics to do just that! I won’t lose any sleep, but just know that there are actually some like me who will not fall for your manipulation!😎
