I am 57 years old and a bloody guitar beginner.
I've never had lessons and until 5 weeks ago I didn't know anything about the guitar, except that you hold it under your right arm and somehow grab the chords with your left hand.
Today I can safely grasp the 10 most important chords blindly and play them at different speeds. I am absolutely impressed with my learning success and can warmly recommend this program. Taylor answered both of my questions very quickly and competently. Thank you from Benno

This is a must if you want to learn guitar! I started playing late in life and thought it would be a lost cause...after completing the 7 week course I can honestly say I'm a guitar player now...well...kind of:)

Taylor does a great job of explaining & guiding you through each phase of learning so you not only understand but you can easily apply. Mix it all in with his jam tracks and you'll be on your way. The free weekly group sessions are great too!

I highly recommend this course if you are a beginner or if you need a refresher. Rock on!

I joined GBB in August of 2020. I have tried other courses on YouTube etc and was just spinning my wheels. I am 59 years old and have short fat fingers. I struggled with timing and all the other things beginners deal with. The other courses were ok but Taylor’s program really gets into teaching how to play (muscle memory). I have made more progress in just a few months than I thought possible. The course by itself is worth every penny I have spent. The Saturday group lessons are always fun and we learn all types of songs, chords and strumming patterns. Taylor takes his time and the lessons are interactive. I recommend GBB to everyone wants to learn to play guitar

I struggled for years. I had starts and stops trying to learn to play the guitar. I watched tons of YouTube videos and learned tiny fragments, but couldn't make any real progress. Then I found the Guitar Building Blocks program - and more specifically Taylor Dean Barnett. Taylor has created a step by step program that is very well structured and is built on muscle memory. Finally - something that is working. Taylor is a great instructor and the program is fun. This program is a GREAT value.

As a 40+years beginner I have searched all over to find someone who teaches how to play guitar, not just how to play songs.

I joined Guitar Building Blocks after a year of taking numerous online courses. I progressed more in 6 weeks than I had in the previous year. Beginning guitarist face 3 major challenges:
1 Trying to figure out the most efficient pathway to learning.
2 Switching seamlessly between chords and eventually mastering barre chords.
3 Staying focused on 1 systematic learning program

I made the mistake of trying to play like SRV and Gary Moore right out of the gate. This is equivalent to trying to replicate advanced athletic moves before you have the muscle memory to walk, and then run, and then jump without thinking about it.
GBB is an enjoyable course that allows you to gain the muscle memory to play chords so you can concentrate on developing the muscle memory to seamlessly switch chords so you can concentrate on developing the muscle memory to master strumming patterns. Each step, or building block gives you the necessary foundation to make it easy to master the next step. You work your way through all 7 building blocks at your own pace. It will take you much longer than 7 weeks but when you finish, you will have the skills and knowledge of a well rounded guiarist. Then you can focus on your personal area of interest; soloing, improvising, composing, learning your favorite songs or fingerpicking or whatever.

I am really glad I enrolled in Taylor's Building Blocks program. Money well spent. I have learned A lot about music and the guitar. The program is designed to be completed in seven weeks, a realistic time frame. The program starts with basic lessons, graduating to more challenging lessons. If i am not challenged , then I am not progressing. Some of the subjects covered are (chords, strumming, power chords, finger picking). Taylor is well qualified as a instructor and always wanting to answer any questions. Taylor is sincere about wanting his students to improve their skills.

Well hey. I’m Wayne. Picked up on the guitar a little over a year ago. Took “live” lessons from a live/talented musician locally, for about 8-9 months.
About 3 months ago I stumbled onto MusicMatchr and Dean, on Face Book.
What Dean provided was a bit different from what I had been doing. He gave me a more “structured” means of learning how to get my brain and my fingers on the same page. Not a small task, if ya know me.
He called it “muscle memory “. While I had heard the term before and he certainly didn’t invent it. This helped me in several ways. Showed me how to change chords efficiently. Taught me a number of things that improved my strumming, even some music theory.
So, when you put all these things into context it was worth far more than the price of admission.

Whilst looking for ways to improve my guitar playing I came across Taylor Dean and MusicMatchr. I liked what I saw and arrange a video link appointment with Taylor, it was a pleasant and interesting session both myself and Taylor getting to know one another and discussing where I wanted to go with my guitar playing and how Taylor and MusicMatchr could help me on my way. I enjoyed our session so much that I enrolled there and then and began my journey using the structured Building Block system and am progressing slowly through each section. Meanwhile I/We have been enjoying a friendly group session on a Saturday evening “my time zone” which have been excellent and include interactive Q&A which help give a better understanding of what is being shown/taught,I have learnt so much from basic chords and the way they are formed to bar chords and their structure/shapes and where to play them up and down the neck of the guitar,Plus much more.

Taylor breaks everything down for you and makes it easy to learn. He also makes himself available if you have questions. Up until now, I taught myself songs which got me pretty good with open chords and strumming patterns, but that really just got me to 2 of the 7 building blocks needed to be able to play anything. Moving my fingers independently around was something totally new to me. Picking was new to me, as well. I am looking forward to getting to the Barre and Power Chords sections. Taylor takes his time when teaching and also makes it fun. I recommend the course to anyone who wants to be a complete guitarist.

I am 59 years old, have taken lessons before but Taylors MusicMatchr guitar course is great.The way the course is designed makes going from one to the next lesson very easy, if you practice and put time in! There is no pressure move at your own pace,and you get great help from facebook group also. The best is how you can ask Taylor any question and you will get an answer.

I love the lessons. I can access it whenever I want. One thing I’d like to request is that I can adjust the speed of the Jam Track. Sometimes I can’t keep up with it😅.

My son now 10 has been taking lessons with MusicMatchr for four years now. He went from not knowing the names of the parts of a guitar to reading tab, playing chords, and recently writing his own songs. Taylor has the patience of a saint. He teaches to the level of the student and really makes an effort to make sure the lessons are relevant and interesting to his pupil. My second son now 6 has begun taking drum lessons as well. He is always encouraged and yet working at his own pace. My boys like that they get to learn "cool" songs and we look forward to sibling jam sessions as they continue to grow.

Taylor is the best. I've been taking classes with him for 2 1/2 years. It's been a great experience. I highly recommend him.

Taylor’s lessons are clear and engaging. He gets young players making “real” music very quickly with a blend of technique and music theory.

Taylor's a great teacher. Strong music background. Breaks complicated songs down into easy steps and takes the lessons to as far as you want to learn. I look forward to Tuesdays.
