Super easy to book!
Really easy to book the travel insurance online and I got reminder emails of things not to forget while on holiday and how to contact if anything went wrong (thankfully it didn't), price was good and I felt secure knowing I had insurance for the 'what if' situation - will definitely use again for any travel :)

TravelCare Delay Assist never worked
TravelCare Delay Assist never worked. Could not register policy. Reported in the week of departure & it was never resolved. Last attempt was the week before returning home.
Upon arrival home (5 weeks later), tried to register again (not that it was of any use) & I could register.
No one from your Service Desk has provided any update to indicate it had been resolved.

Very Disappointing Claims Experience at Southern Cross Travel Insurance. We had the unfortunate experience of…
We had the unfortunate experience of having to make a claim due to cutting our trip short to return for the funeral of my brother who died suddenly.
SCTI response was:
1) Very empathetic, but;
2) Very disappointing in attempting to avoid liability under our cover by:
a) At Initial inquiry to SCTI, we were advised that my brother was not immediate family & that we would only have a limited claims cover
b) Upon reading the fine print of our policy, it became apparent that this response was inaccurate & that the appropriate rationale was that we had to cut short our holiday. SCTI response was to severely test the cause of death for my deceased brother who had died suddenly, unbelievably requiring a letter from my Brother’s Doctor explaining the sudden cause of death - In addition to the Coroner’s death certificate!
- We know that this whole procedure was unnecessary because our daughter also had to return home prematurely for her Uncle’s funeral. Our daughter (who had travel insurance with a competitor to SCTI), was paid out within 3 weeks without challenge (or GP’s letter)!
3) Despite submitting our claim within a few days of returning, final payout was over 2 months after the original submission. This was partly due to the demands for Coroners death certificate AND qualifying GP letter (submitted within 10 days), but also mostly, because Email correspondence was misplaced at SCTI - it was explained to us that our responses had been diverted at SCTI to an INBOX - OUTBOX file. For our correspondence to NOT be directed To the Case Manager is a shortcoming, but for no person at SCTI to be accountable for re-directing (unclaimed) INBOX - OUTBOX mail is extremely poor Customer Service.
—- We stress that the people that we dealt with at SCTI were always polite & pleasant, however, systems and fine print interpretation/training were of an extremely low standard.
—- NB: We elected to obtain travel insurance cover from Southern Cross Travel Insurance because we have enjoyed superb service from Southern Cross Medical Insurance over many years. Our poor experience at SCTI (Travel Insurance) was the complete antithesis of our long time experience of Southern Cross Medical Insurance.

We're disappointed to hear that you felt the claims process was prolonged and difficult to navigate. We understand your concerns regarding the information provided at the outset of your enquiry, the documentation requested during the claim assessment, and the delays caused by correspondence not being directed appropriately. We also appreciate the detailed feedback you've shared about these aspects of your experience.
While we sometimes need to request additional information to assess a claim in line with policy terms and ensure we have the information required to make a fair decision, we understand how frustrating this can feel, particularly in sensitive circumstances such as a bereavement claim.
We do appreciate your acknowledgment of the professionalism and empathy shown by our team members throughout your interactions. Equally, we recognise that positive individual interactions do not lessen the impact of process and communication issues, and we're sorry that these fell short of your expectations.
Thank you again for bringing these concerns to our attention. Feedback like yours is invaluable as we continue to review and improve the experience we provide our customers. We were particularly disappointed to read that your experience with SCTI did not reflect the high standards you've come to expect from the wider Southern Cross family, and we appreciate your honesty in sharing this with us. An excellent and quick response
Having recently returned from a lengthy holiday in Australia where both my wife and I required medical attention we filed a claim a week after our return home and both claims were actioned and accepted the following day , so impressed with the level of cover and the incredible response time , I can’t stress enough how important it is to have all your documents , receipts and dates etc in order which is very easy to do you just need to be organised , very cost effective and efficient , we highly recommend Southern Cross , thank you and well done .

traveling internationally
Was traveling internationally to visit family.
Arranged SX travel Insurance and must compliment the company for the assistance in arranging. Having had an issue on the Website, I contacted the 0800 No and thanks to the Operator on the Line, ensuring I completed the process. It became a smooth experience.
My trip was magic and reassuring to know I was covered by a renowned company.
Would definitely go to SX again.

Completing the online travel insurance was simple, cost effective and when we extended our trip it was easy to get hold of an actual person to extend. I can't comment on claiming as we've not had to do that thankfully.
