Great service

Listed books on app & took to Evri collection.
Didn't hear anything for some time, emailed Sellitback. V prompt reply, they investigated it & decided parcel had been lost. I was paid the agreed sum nevertheless, within a few days.
Will definitely use again.

Frustrating Experience with SellitBack…

Frustrating Experience with SellitBack - avoid this company

My recent interaction with SellitBack left me thoroughly disappointed. I sent 48 books and over 50% were rejected for minor cosmetic reasons.
They fail to understand that they are dealing with "Second Hand" books and if there is even a slight defect with the book, even though this would be normal wear and tear, they reject the book and keep the item.
The lack of transparency and genuine engagement from SellitBack was truly disheartening.

“minor cosmetic reasons” – images of the books we have quality failed are accessible in customer account to view. If they are cosmetic in your opinion, we beg to disagree and we have shared the description above in support of our conclusion.

“They fail to understand that they are dealing with "Second Hand" books” – we have been in the used book business for a decade and a half, but we appreciate the reminder.

“normal wear and tear, they reject the book” – we understand wear and tear. Therefore we will not buy a book that another book lover would not accept due to its condition.

“and keep the item” – clear mis information. Commonplace today.

“The lack of transparency” – Sellitback is one of the few companies in this space, that shares images of the books we are not accepting for quality or other related reasons… in the interest of transparency!

“…(lack of) genuine engagement from Sellitback was truly disheartening” – two calls made and conversation had.

Abysmal customer service

Abysmal customer service. Quotes over £11 and sent my books (mostly brand new) and was told I’d only be paid £0.66. My books were then “recycled” without my permission. I suspect they’ve kept them.

We have in our recent email shared full details of your order and why we took the actions that we did. Your order value was £11.57. The lowest offer price was £0.09 and the highest £1.92. The average price offered per book was £0.36.

In total you sent us 32 books.

28 failed to meet our Quality Guidelines. Your are able to see images of all books we have rejected by logging into your Sellitback account.

25 of the 28 belonged to council/school libraries such as Nottingham City Council, Leicestershire Library Service, Greatfield School and Calderdale Metropolitan District Council.

We are very clear in our Quality Guidelines that we do not accept library books. We have in fact even shared an image of how you can identify a library book, just in case. Please see: https://www.sellitback.com/quality

The details of the other 3 books we rejected are as follows:

1. Non-verbal reasoning Test papers books - has scribbling with a black pen on the title page,
2. The Harry Potter Book - has a rip on the title page. This page also has an IDEASTORE book shop sticker holding the tear at the middle and a Tower Hamlets barcode sticker, and
3. Charlie Bone & the Shadow of Badlock book - has its bottom end spine ripped out of place.

We do not agree with your assessment of our service been abysmal. On the contrary you have clearly have not taken the time to read our Terms & Conditions or our Quality Guidelines and seem to be insisting on us been at fault when all the evidence seems to say otherwise.

It does not matter if your books were in (your opinion) “mostly brand new” condition, which they were clearly not given that 25 were from libraries. And we do not accept library books and regardless of condition, we will reject them.

Also we are not obliged to return your books to you nor do we need your permission to recycle them, especially when there has been a blatant disregard of our Terms & Conditions and Quality Guidelines.

Therefore in conclusion we hope you can find a suitable company whose terms are more amenable to your definitions of book condition and your expectations.

Excellent customer service

Easy to use app and print label for postage.
They accepted books at better prices than some others I tried.
Unfortunately the parcel did not arrive but I emailed, with tracking number and a full payment was made. Excellent customer service

Good customer service but process was confusing

Had an issue with printing the label but their customer service was very good. I just didn't think it was overly clear on the website.
Sadly the box I sent seems to have gotten lost but they quickly responded to my enquiry and are still honouring the agreement for the books sent.

A good outlet for selling books

I was pleased that I used this company for selling my books. Having amassed so many, and with charity shops not wanting any more, selling was a better option than recycling. Payment was received promptly. A couple of annoyances. 1, they only offered to buy a third of the books that I had. 2, Parcels are sent to them via the Hermes network. Instead of the expected 2 day delivery, Hermes took 10 days to get the parcel to the destination.

After a previous issue with Sellitback

After a previous issue with Sellitback, I decided to use them again for selling books, as they reassured me that:
"While we aim to maintain a competitive edge in terms of payment processing time, a breakdown in the delivery process by Evri resulted in the delay of your payment in this instance".

However, I wont be using them again after my latest experience.

I dropped off my package at my local Evri package shop on 15th July 2023. I contacted Sellitback on both 25th July and 1st August to check on the status of my order. Fortunately, I had retained my Evri receipt, so could use the tracking number to prove that the parcel had been collected by Evri on 17th July. On 1st August, Sellitback told me:
"According to our records, this order has not yet been received at our warehouse but we have processed your payment and marked your parcel as lost".

I was eventually paid on 7th August 2023, six days later, twenty-three days after drop-off at the Evri shop.

To paraphrase Oscar Wilde, to have a problem with one delivery may be regarded as a misfortune; for it to happen again looks like carelessness.

I wont be using Sellitback again - there are better alternatives - if you do use them, prepare for a delayed payment and make sure you retain your tracking number.

A poor experience

A poor experience. As a regular user of competitor companies I thought it’d give sell it back a go. However I am very disappointed, the process takes a long time, the price they give is just an estimate and you get books rejected for the tiniest of things. One mark on the book I know wasn’t there when sending. It’s a shame they waste so many books because of this, not very sustainable even if being recycled. In addition, the prices offered are very low compared to others. Won’t be using again

Swift payment, good communication, user-friendly app

I appreciated the clear communication and swift payment, which was a pleasant surprise. I also think the app was very intuitive and easy to use, and I appreciate it a lot. My only minor gripe - which is not Sellitback's fault, but I do think it would be useful for them to pass this feedback on to the Evri as the recipient (I already got in touch with them as the sender) - is that Evri took much longer than I expected to deliver my box of books to Sellitback, which made me quite anxious as I waited (and heard nothing).
