J'ai remis mon rapport d'impôt chez HR Block le 20 mars sur rendez-vous..Nous sommes le 10 juin et malgré que je m'informe régulièrement on me remet l'échéance d'une semaine à l'autre...j'ai rendez-vous avec mon avocat le 20 juin et je leur fait une mis en demeure pour la totale; non professionaliste, mensonges et stress....je vais sûrement donner suite à cette avis...

My sister got her income tax return done there a few days ago rather than waiting for me to take her to my tax office. She has basic information. 2 t4a's, her pension earnings and disability deduction . That's it. A five minute tax return. Charged her 160 dollars!!! Go to any reputable company and it would cost 50 dollars. Please do not go to this company. Total rip off!!

I am extremely frustrated with H&R Block’s online service and their abysmal customer service.

In March 2026, I received a CRA reassessment notice for my 2012 tax return (which I had filed using H&R Block’s online software). The CRA found an error in the filing that resulted in me owing them $1,300. I contacted H&R Block to get expert guidance on how to amend my 2012 return to correct the error and potentially reduce the debt.

An H&R Block agent advised me to purchase their Audit Protection service, with three years protection ($80+tax) to resolve this. It was a complete waste of money:

1- Zero Expert Guidance: When I connected with their "expert" via the Canada Post Connect messaging service, they simply sent a brief, dismissive message explaining the error and essentially told me to "fix it myself."
2- Broken Three-Year Support Promise: H&R Block heavily markets this $80+ Audit Protection as a three-year support plan, yet the agent repeatedly closed my case after sending nothing but brief messages. The case was shut down immediately without offering any actual strategy to reduce the debt. I had to call customer service just to get the case reopened. When the agent replied a second time, they gave me a few vague steps regarding my RRSP and immediately closed the case again without checking if the issue was resolved.
3- The Bait-and-Switch Pricing Trap: When I complained that a $80+ fee should include actual guidance or someone taking the file into their hands to help reduce the debt, they told me that Audit Protection doesn't include "walking me through" the problem—apparently, only their "Expert Help" service does that! To make matters worse, their Expert Help service was actually cheaper than the useless $80+ Audit Protection package they tricked me into buying.
4- Nine Calls and Zero Management Follow-up: When I immediately asked to switch my payment to the correct, cheaper service or get a refund to buy it myself, I was given the runaround. I called customer support nine times over the course of three months asking to speak to a manager. I was given nothing but contradictory excuses (told to wait 10 days then another 30 days, blamed on technical difficulties, etc.). Not a single manager ever called me back.

It is now June 1st, and after three months of being left in limbo, I have completely given up on getting my tax problem solved by H&R Block. They mis-sold me a useless, overpriced service, took my money, refused to let me switch to the service I actually needed, and left me with a $1,300 tax debt to handle entirely on my own.

Do not trust H&R Block's online add-ons or their "Audit Protection." They do not care about helping you once they have your money. Safely take your business to a real accountant elsewhere.

I would give a negative star if possible.. been waiting 2 years for the money they owe me for screwing up my taxes. They made A 4000 dollar mistake and I got the insurance just in case they did and I have been calling every week for 2 years. Always tell me it's in progress... Worst service in history and the insurance is another scam go to brentax next time and never go to h and r. Unless u wanna be friends with the CRA.

Their tax consultant messed up my taxes to the point I received entirely the wrong payment and nearly got sent to collections. When I came in in person to deal with it they had no one on site who could help me and had to ask me to come back. Then moved my appointment forwards​ 4 hours with one hours notice. They still couldn't deal with it on site and gave me the wrong number to their collection department. Very unprofessional, and unreliable. I could not discourage anyone more from using their services.

Extremely poor service. Alan Wu this year charged me 122 dollars for not provided service! For direct deposit which was not provided from the date before. Also gave me a phone number with no answer. I was waiting for 5 weeks for my " direct deposit" which was sent my canada post which is striking, and now I can not put it on my account. Also the wrong name of city was proclaimed and I was suspecting of a crime of stilling information. I highly NOT RECCOMEND

Seney holdings Ltd did my taxes without my consent or knowledge. Illigally. Be careful of them

I called the office in Shelburne Ont and left message about our files. it has been 8 days with no call. Dan returned my call and could not find our files.
I told him that concerns me he finally found the files ,they were not where they should have been .he told me to come pick the. up
when i arrived i said i was not impressed he went on about how busy he was. I said that is not the issue you could not find our files and if i didnt phone how long would we be waiting they were not where they should have been
He then told Me to F off and get out and his body language frighten me.
i did call him a frikin idiot when when I left.
This person was out of control and yelling he should be fired.

H&R Block you lost me after 11 years

Do not do your taxes with these guys. you get ripped off.
So basically if you are a tech savvy person and can do it online these guys have a platform online called H&R Block online tax file. the system had so much errors on their end giving false warnings throughout the process. I called them in and had them to ask their tech team and they said we cant do so you have to book an expert on call... No reason for that, why on earth would I pay extra for something their fault. I asked the agent to book me a meeting online as call not capable of seeing what I see. He said no worries I book you zoom meeting with expert and 20 mins later I get notified the agent made the mistake and the meeting is just a call for 30 mins !!! already pissed I call back and happen to be the same agent I tell him wth you said meeting so I can share screen he said I didnt know.. no appologies, I tell him ok just cancel and he said he cant im like well i dont wanna pay for the expert call he say then you have to start a new return wasting 5 hrs of my filling time already as I was on the last page getting these false error and then next day I am like screw this I will just go with the call and guess what expert calls his tech team and they confirm it is their fault error. And I am being charged 65$ for tax expert for 5 mins he communicating with him team.

Screw this and H&R block
After 11 years they lost me here

H&R block Canada is a crook, they exploited clients with high fees, also exploited employees with minimum wage and without any benefits, they are very sneaky, unethical, they changed employees commission without informing them first across the country so that employees get less pay, they made employees work for free and upsell stuff that clients don’t need, they created fraudulent ROE so that off season workers can get EI, this company only cares about profit margin and shareholders, they don’t care about employees and clients, this company doesn’t need management, management doesn’t know anything about taxes ,95% tax professionals are seasonal workers, they only worked 2 month a year, they are not solid, not experts, STAY AWAY FROM THEM!!! there are many small firms doing much better jobs than H&R block Canada , also cheaper, small firms including CPA firms and non CPA firms are more experienced as their employees work year around, company name, brand, size of the company doesn’t mean anything.

I filed my personal tax return yesterday for both myself and my wife in Guelph at their office in Willow Rd on April 30,2026.
They are good but pricy because they charged us $ 791 .
Although we are not selfemployed or having business . please ask for the cost before filing with them if you want my advice.

I worked Razia Merchant, Office is 54068. I had a great experience with her. She was knowledgable, kind and supportive. She guided us through her process and was very patient. I would love to work with her again.

Absolutely terrible customer service. I have spoken to 4 different agents at this point trying to get my account deleted and every single one of them gives next to no actual information and then hangs up immediately. Use any other software

We went to H and R today in Saskatoon. We paid almost 600 dollars. We were frustrated as she could not seem to understand us and visa versa

She spent most of her time coughing. I liked her but this not a job for her. 600.oo for a tax prep is exorbitant.
Others were coughing their lungs out. Not clients but staff, . I think that there must have been an error.
What was disturbing was the cost, would be cheaper to pay the fine for not submitting?

overall experience was unprofessional, lacked transparency, fees are applied to maximize profit, not reflecting the actual work required.

No one reviewed my return, they were surprised when I wanted to ensure all of my paperwork submitted was processed. Instead they said well if it is in the file, we probably included it

Milvia was very patient and was meticulous in her work. She takes her time to check and trupple check. I would highly recommend Milia Bonacini.H and r block university ave Toronto.

I had a technical chat with Technical support agent: Aiswarya Satheesh. This was not related to tax.
The agent provided me incomplete information, while I was in chat with the agent she left the chat and I received the messages from AI bot. This is rude and not acceptable. My query was left unresolved and she rudely left the chat.

Our experience with H&R Block on Corydon in Winnipeg sadly has been the worst. We began our appointment with the preparer informing us she may not be able to complete our review in time (it was 6:15) because their system "shuts down at 7:30." She then used ChatGPT to look up tax information instead of having their software drive the process (it was about transferring tuition credits from our university aged kids) - not confidence inspiring. We were also told repeatedly "you should just do this yourselves," which didn't make sense. Our preparer was also tripped up by having a Quebec provincial tax form. This culminated in being told we were going to be charged an additional $60 due to the form from Quebec when we completed the process and were about to pay. Nothing was shared with us up front about costs other than what was on the published fee sheet we reviewed at preparer's desk.

So not only was the whole experience disjointed and unprofessional, but in bad faith. We provided all of our slips up front and information at the start of the process, only to be informed of the price at the end. This goes against H&R Blocks stated principle on their website: "With upfront transparent pricing, we'll walk you through your cost of tax preparation and any fees before you start the filing process."

We will never work with this company again.

UPDATE: 20 April 2026

We are still fighting with the H&R Block on Corydon in Winnipeg to have them resolve the error they made in transmitting our file to CRA. We have not been contacted by the franchise owner - other than responding to this google review. Apparently no appropriate action was taken. We are filing a complaint with H&R Block Canada and have provided CRA with the details since the error is mishandling of forms provided during our tax preparation.
