Absolute the WORST Chinese scam out there.. Avoid at all cost. Items are nothing as advertised.. sold as Calvin Klein shirt but what u get is some cheap pathetic piece of trash RAG not even worth five dollars.. looks like a clean up rag to mop the floor . please let my experience save anyone else from making the same mistake. Should be illegal!! Never Again!!

I ordered twice several hundred $$$ in October I wrote to them. They apologised and then blocked me. I won’t be getting my goods and definitely not the money back I which I looked at Reddit sooner.

Velvet lane boutique is a SCAM! cheap nasty clothes both woman’s and men’s. They charge expensively so you assume they’re quality but don’t be fooled!! They are cheap Chinese nastys with no labels definitely not as advertised and if you want to send them back for a refund you have to pay the postage to China! Even though they are advertised on their website to be in Melbourne. Fraudulently misleading Australian shoppers and I am just livid!!! Do not buy from this company, you WILL be disappointed! ☹️

AVOID!! They are China-based, not Melbourne. Shoes took a long time to arrive, they were of a far lesser quality than they appear on the website (sizing is inaccurate and they are flimsy and cheaply made). They actually make Shein look high-end...

Returns process makes it unviable. Waste of time and money, won't even bother donating them.

Unfortunately, I’ve had the same experience as many other reviewers on here.

The item I received was sub-par in quality and did not match the expectations set by the product listing. When I raised this with the company, they did not offer a proper refund. Instead, they attempted to avoid responsibility by making returns practically impossible, requiring items to be sent back overseas at the customer’s expense and at a disproportionate cost.

This approach appears designed to discourage returns rather than resolve legitimate complaints.

Given the response I received and the number of similar experiences reported here, I am now escalating the matter to the ACCC and pursuing a chargeback through my bank.

I would strongly advise others to read the negative reviews carefully before ordering.

This is a deceitful, misleading company. In their website they said they were based in Melbourne and that was a lie. They are from china and the goods were a very cheap material, the quality is so bad. I bought two dresses and their quality is so bad. The dresses didn’t have any labels so no size on the dresses, no labels for care instructions and not labels with the name of the company. The dresses looked like second hand.
I asked to returned the items and they said I have to pay 50 pounds to return the items to china when I bought it from “ Melbourne “.

I sent my very unsatisfactory goods back as per their instructions four months ago and I'm still being told they haven't received the goods so I can't get my refund. They keep saying they 'are still in customs' which I don't believe for a moment. It's so upsetting to be dealing with a shoddy company and them being in China, I can't follow up on exactly what's happening. I also believed they were an Australian company. They should be investigated and shut down. Disgusting! Don't deal with them

A scam website. Will advertise a reputed company name and will send you a local item. When you ask them to return on basis of fraud then they will answer all your questions except the fraud. Will ask you to return it to China & they are well aware with international post they won't provide you tracking inside china and they will tell they didn't receive the item and when receive it then they will provide your return. Basically you return it and you will get nothing for $140.

This business is a scam. The products they sell you are not only subpar. They barely represent the advertise product. I immediately cancelled my order only 30 mins after ordering as I hadn’t read the reviews, but felt concerned immediately after reading them. They prolonged , protracted delayed, lied , stalled and created every obstacle to avoid cancelling, and then sent me the products anyway which were predictably terrible.
I then returned them at a cost to myself. They refused to give me the correct address and only after I pressed them telling them that Australia Post could not recognise their address, did they provide me with additional details. I ended up getting my money back from AMEX because it was clear the products were subpar and I could produce a long list of email correspondence and requests and assurances by them that when they received the products they would give me a refund however the product was not able to be delivered back to them. Fortunately AMEX could see this was a strategy to get around providing a refund for the return.

But unbelievably yesterday nearly 5 months after I purchased the products initially, they were returned to me from China!!!!. What I am meant to do with them now I have no idea. I certainly don’t want them and I wouldn’t even give them to Vinny‘s..
DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY. It is a waste of your time and money. It cost me $80 to return them and the products are nothing like what you see online. They’re not a Melbourne company. It’s a complete scam. I ended up buying from my local Westfield and they were good quality for a good price . Please do not buy from these guys the quality is terrible and you’ll feel ripped off.
If you want a good cheap company, I would recommend Shein although I think there are problems with their products in terms of the chemicals that they use. If you have to go online, I would try the iconic or Temu.

No labels on the products. Look like they have been selected from a bin for DEFECTIVE items.
I returned my order in August 2025 .REFUSE to refund even though they say they will.Keep telling me it hasn't arrived yet.This company should be banned from advertising in Australia.

Dishonest seller. >>AVOID<< I changed my mind about my order 2 hours after placing the order. I emailed and requested a cancellation. They replied within 22hrs of my order to say it was too late, that the order has left their warehouse. Maybe Amazon could learn from these masters of logistics?

Total rubbish and a blatant lie to what they say their website specifically stating you can cancel within 24hrs.

Stuff arrived 1.5weeks later. Suede birk type shoes =pleather. Ie They sent plastic, not what they described.

The shoes were just rubbish. I may as well have ordered from Temu myself and paid 10% of the price.

I wanted to send back, and apparently you have to send it to China. Not sure I'd even get a refund if I would do that. Stay away from them SCAMMERS... have reported to the ACCC.

I ordered from Velvet Lane Boutique after seeing them advertised on Google Shopping with very good prices and strong Australian branding. The website presents itself as an Australian boutique and heavily promotes a “closing down” sale with urgency messaging.

After purchasing, I realised the offer seemed too good to be true and reviewed their policies more carefully. I requested cancellation within the 24-hour cancellation period stated on their website. My request was ignored initially and later refused, with the store claiming the order had already been processed, despite my request being made within their published cancellation window and before any tracking information was provided.

Further research shows a pattern of similar complaints from other customers. Archived versions of the website (via web.archive.org) also show Australian business details that no longer appear on the live site, including an Australian ABN and address, while orders appear to be fulfilled from overseas.

Based on my experience, I recommend others proceed with caution.

If you are affected:

- Contact your bank immediately
- Keep screenshots of the website, policies, and emails
- You can report the store to Shopify via their fraud reporting form
- Consider reporting the matter to the ACCC / Scamwatch

I am currently pursuing my refund through my bank.

Updated 16 Dec - So it seems it's not only in Australia. If you view their ads in the Google Ads Transparency Centre - You can search by the advertiser name ZDD 1 Limited. It will show Australia by default, there's a dropdown to show all countries. There's online stores in Canada, Italy, etc.

They have Google Shopping ads, so if you search "Birkenstock" - they show a picture that looks like the brand and has the model name, eg. "Arizona". So at first glance it looks legit. But then if you click through, it doesn't mention the brand name. Classic bait and switch. Google has policies in place, so I don't know how this is getting through their checks.

Shopify also has store policies - but again it doesn't seem to be getting flagged. This experience has turned me off using "Shop Pay" - to the point where unless it has a gateway like PayPal with buyer protection, I will not purchase again.

My review has been deleted, however, my experience matches all the other negative reviews. Do NOT buy any of this cheap Chinese garbage.

Buyer beware!
This website gave the impression it was based in Melbourne, Australia—right down to displaying the Australian flag. The shoes, however, were shipped from China, and the quality was extremely disappointing. There was no sizing on the tongue, and a size 9 fit more like a size 7.

I contacted the company to arrange a return. They agreed to accept it, but only at my expense. They then offered a 35% discount on a future purchase. I suggested they simply cover the return postage instead of the discount—but received no response.

Very disappointing experience.

Avoid at all costs. Total scammers and it is very concerning that they appear in Google sponsored items when they are selling absolute fakes as legitimate items.

If you have fallen for their very sophisticated fake online marketing and spent your hard earned cash on their poxy offerings dressed up as the real McCoy immediately contact your bank and initiate a chargeback. Send a link to these reviews to your bank.

Do not engage with their customer service as you will be scammed further through time and money. Do not send the items back as they pretend they have never received them and charge you for the privilege. The whole operation is illegal under Australian Consumer Law.

Report these cowboys to your state and federal authorities on consumer affairs. A chargeback through your card merchant is your best bet. This process guarantees a refund and will cost them as well as their reputation with their bank. If enough people do chargebacks it becomes very costly for them and they can be banned from using the Mastercard/Visa system.

Hopefully they will be shut down as they are fraudsters.

If I could give no star review I would. Seems to be an online drop shipping company based out of China pretending to be an Australian company. They advertised expensive cashmere jumpers/sweaters that I purchased as Christmas gifts - they arrived and are terrible quality. The items have no labels indicating the materials used, and they don't feel like the cashmere described on the website. They feel like synthetic with cheap zip. They refused to answer my questions about what the materials used were and only offered a refund if I spend $100 to send them back to the China factory. Now they just ignore my emails .I’ll be reporting them to the ACCC.

Absolutely awful experience with this company. Returned the items as requested because they were the wrong sizes and very poor quality not suiting me. They have never ever been collected by the Chinese company they came from.
The customer service have repeatedly said nothing to do with them but no one from the company in China will accept the return and so they just ripped me off.
DO NOT BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE.

DONT BUY FROM THIS SCAM COMPANY I ordered a short sleeve dress with belt. I received a long sleeve dress no belt. The dress was low quality poorly made rag. Nothing like the dress advertised. I paid $169. I complained & requested a refund. I was told I would have to pay £50 =$100AUD to return it to the Chinese company. No tags on the dress which would also be an excuse to decline refund. This company should be held responsible for their fraudulent activity

I ordered what I thought were Birkenstock sandals. They sent a Chinese look alike 4 sizes too small. After numerous correspondence they promised a refund if I paid for the return, which was equivalent to the purchase price.

Well totally fraudulent. I ordered a womens blouse $165 and what arrived was a mens brightly coloured polyester shirt. Absolute rubbish . I contacted the company who was sure what I ordered was delivered. Yes an order was delivered but not anything like I had ordered. Don't even think of ordering their products.
