Sheer Crap. Don't fall in this trap. You will get scammed as did I.

I’m really disappointed and feel misled by Velvet Lane’s advertising. When searching for “Birkenstock Arizona” on Google, your ad appears at the very top with a thumbnail clearly showing the Arizona model. The site prominently states “Established in Melbourne since 2009” and everything about the branding suggests it’s a genuine Australian business.
In reality, it’s a Chinese drop-shipping operation. While the items ship via Australia Post (which adds to the confusion), you’re now quoting me over £50 (more than AUD $100) to return the item to China. At no point during checkout or in the returns policy does it disclose that returns must be sent to China or that the customer has to cover such expensive international postage.
This lack of transparency is unacceptable and feels deliberately deceptive.

Totally fraudulent! Items are cheap Asian size, not an Australian business, falsely advertised. Do not pay to return to China.

Lesson learned the hard way

I placed an order on the Velvet Lane website in October 2025 and paid by a credit card.
After reading the bad reviews on the net, I cancelled the order within 24 hours and received confirmation that the cancellation was accepted.
I also temporarily blocked my credit card for safety. However, as soon as I unblocked it, the company deducted the money from my account.
Their stated delivery timeframe is 15 working days, but it has now been over four weeks with no delivery and no communication about the delay. I am concerned that the website may be fraudulent & likely to shut down after Christmas and retain customers’ money.

Total Scam, i ordered 2 Small shirts and received 2 Large. The tags were cut off but they were in a bag with an L sticker. They refused to refund me as they said i had to pay the $100 shipping to return, which cost more than the items. They portray themselves as an Australian company, but are definitely not. Poor quality products from China. Now they won't even return my emails. Steer very clear of this company.

I am editing this review after they responded to it. They responded like they want to fix the issue. NO, 5 emails later i am getting the exact same run around. A complete and utter waste of time. DO NOT ever buy from this company.

This company is a scam. Advertises it’s an Australian company but its warehouse is in China. I got 2 shirts from them and both are extremely poor quality and all internal tags are cut off. (Which appears to be a common problem after I have done some research) once I contacted them they said I will have to post the products back to China even though it doesn’t state that under their damaged or defective policy, It only states payment of return if you “change your mind” or doesn’t fit! They then only offered me a 20% and then 70% off my next purchase. There damaged policy states that the customer will either get a refund or replacement, they refuse to do this. Once I threatened I will contact the ACCC they have cut all communication with me and refuse to reply back to my emails. Do not waste your money buying from this company. Their a fraud!

Totally agree with all the other one star reviews. This is a scam. The company is not Australian. The products are poorly made rubbish. They make returns very difficult and when they finally “authorise” the return it never “arrives” so they refuse to refund . Australia post can track parcels to China but not in China. In the end I reported it to Amex and they immediately refunded my money.

Lowest quality possible. Sold as genuine leather. Instead cheap plastic. Just terrible quality

Buyer beware, as others have said, they are awful, I sent return back in June 2025 and today Nov 25 no refund, they claim its not been delivered, I suspect they haven't collected it on purpose. Also, do not leave it 120 days if bought by credit card as the bank cannot claim the money back. My advice is DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THEM AT ALL.

I recently purchased shoes from a velvetlaneboutique.com that claimed to be an Australian business based at 121 Kanooka Road, Boronia VIC and established in 2009, but after ordering I discovered it was misleading and likely not Australian at all. The price was shown in AUD, yet I was charged in British Pounds plus a credit card surcharge, and the shoes arrived smaller than standard sizing despite ordering my usual size 39. When I requested a refund—based on their “30-day return policy”—it took four days to receive a return address and authorisation number, and every reply tried to persuade me not to return the product, offering discounts instead. They then claimed it would cost £50 to return the shoes to a warehouse in China, which is more than the purchase price, and refused to answer my questions about where this policy was stated on their website. Based on this experience, I strongly advise consumers not to use this website, as it is misleading and makes the return process intentionally difficult.

20/11 – Thank you for your reply. All communication has been through support@ so you should already have the full record. If you genuinely intend to resolve this, start by explaining why I am expected to pay postage when the sizing provided was inaccurate. And if you are an Australian company, why am I being told to ship the goods back to a CHINA warehouse instead of handling the return locally?

Fell for the scam, terrible quality, worse than temu, clearly a fake Chinese company. Sadly, I didn't check these reviews online properly, lesson learned.

Total scam. Poor quality item. They are in china, not Australia. I tried to return a dress which was terrible quality and too big and I had to pay $37 return postage to China. It arrived back on my doorstep today… 6 months later!! What a joke!

I was searching for shoes and found some on Velvet Lanes website. The site looked great, lovely photos, a store in Melbourne Australia. As soon as I pressed the continue with purchase button it flicked to arriving from China . I quickly read their policy and it said you have 24 hours to cancel your order. I did this and received a message saying it was already out for delivery and couldn’t be cancelled . Scam, scam, scam. Anyway, the order arrived and it was a very plastic pair of rip off Birkenstocks. I asked about the return process and you had to send them back to China and it was going to cost 55pounds, this was confusing as I’m in Australia and sending to China ????? Then they send an email offering me 40% off my next purchase .. I think not.

Poor quality product. Poor sizing. Poorly made. Refuse to refund your $ unless you send item to China.
Purchased thinking it was Australian made. All returns have to be sent to China making the returns cost more than the garment.
Customer service deflect these complaints by offering discounts on the next purchase. With every response the % increases up to 70% off next order.
I don't want another poorly made item, I want my $ refunded.

This company is fake.i paid for leather sandals and got plastic rubbish that float when wet...lol.i definately got scammed.was really looking forward to product advertised too.will try to get my back but don't hold out much hope.wont be shopping online lining Chinese pockets anymore!!that goes for temu and shein too

Do not purchase from this company . false advertising, I rate them less than 0. They sell cheap rubbish clothing at a high price. The Mens pants purchased were ridiculously small , poor quality with label cut out…. The only way this company can improve is by closing down. They refuse to accept responsibility continually send the same repeated message offering 25 per cent of next purchase…They claim to have a business address in Melbourne. There is a picture of Sydney Harbour on their webpage which should be replaced with Hong Kong Harbour as that is where the clothes come from and have to be returned to at an astronomical cost..Their business has nothing to do with Australia

Definitely avoid this business!! It took forever to receive my order and when I finally got it I’ve been sent the wrong item. When I approached them they asked me to pay for the return shipping to China as it is “in their policy”.
Not to mention the low quality of the item I have received, it had no labels to confirm size or material it’s made of.

Photos look nothing like what's on their website, cheap, poorly made items. Don't waste your money, didn't even waste more money trying to send them back. Put all 4 items into the a clothing bin
