This was so easy and stress free. It was easy to follow the instructions and its done! We feel so good knowing we have completed our Will to protect us when something happens. I love the fact I can go and change when life changes and there is no fee. You just do the work and done. I would recommend to everyone to do for protection and peace of mind. I had my power attorney signed by two…
I am going to give Wilful.ca a 5 Star review and here's why. I had originally signed up, got my enduring pos documents signed by 2 witnesses, my Mom who was appointed me as her acting poa. No real estate was involved. I took the docs to my Moms financial institution and the rep seemed disinterested as her bank in helping with this and said it wasn't a legal doc. I contacted Wilful and they were surprised as according to my Mom's financial institution own website, they were in compliance of the laws within the Province of BC and did not need to have a notary. The Jack at the financial institution gave Wilful a hard time over the phone even though we both pointed out that these were legal a valid docs. After a number of incredibly professional emails from Wilful and their continued follow up attempts to communicate and resolve this at the bank, They suggested I try another branch with better customer service. I did everthing right and by the books. I went to another branch and the representative was amazing, no issues and I was able to added to the appointed attorney with the poa docs Wilful had provided. I was then able to pay bills, take care of my aging mothers finances. I want to shout out to Both Bruna and Josh at Wilful for their amazing professionalism and follow through during this week long process. They never left me hanging, stood behind me the whole way and saved my a lot of money than having to go and hire an attorney which would have cost me over $1000. Thank you Wilful and Bruna and Josh. I highly recommend them without reservation.

As we discussed, your Willful document was 100% legally executed according to British Columbia law, and we are so glad the bank ultimately recognized it and accepted your Power of Attorney, without you needing to pay $1,000 for a notary or an outside lawyer.
We completely understand how frustrating it is when bank branches enforce strict internal policies that go beyond provincial legal requirements. Advocating for our customers in these situations is incredibly important to us, and we are thrilled you got the resolution you deserved.

I think Willful would benefit from…
I think Willful would benefit from providing some pre-guidance on the experience and what all of the component parts mean with respect to establishing a will. It's a sort of "throw you into the deep end, make a lot of early decisions that I don't think one fully understands up front." My counsel is that they might benefit from providing some guidance around how to think about your session, because I think they add unnecessary friction to the experience in having to stop and think and try to understand what the purpose of the given questions and decisions is meant to solve in the middle of it. Making us pay up front for a process that wasn't clearly articulated, I think, also is disingenuous. I think the payment should be if we actually decide to register the Will. And that should be something that we do because we enjoyed the experience and want to support you.

We completely understand your point about needing more upfront context. Estate planning involves heavy terminology (like executors, trustees, and beneficiaries), and having to pause and research these roles in the middle of the questionnaire definitely adds unnecessary friction. Your suggestion to provide a "pre-guidance" overview or a roadmap of what to expect before diving into the questions is excellent counsel, and we are sharing this directly with our product and design teams to help improve the onboarding experience.
We also want to gently clarify a point regarding our platform's flow, as it sounds like there may have been a misunderstanding during your session. Willful does not require payment upfront to go through the questionnaire. Our standard process allows users to create an account, answer all of the guided questions, and see how the system works entirely for free. Payment is only required at the very end when a user decides they want to purchase, download, and print their legal documents. We are truly sorry if the interface made it feel like you had to pay before experiencing the process.
