Accord made an offer based on the information provided subject to valuation. The valuation came back as expected but then Accord changed their mind and reduced the offer amount with no explanation. The underwriters seem to take an unprecedented amount of time and two months after the valuation they were still coming back with more questions for the valuer! They were very slow to respond to any inquiries from our broker and it needed to be escalated before we got the offer letter sent through. We have now completed (at last) but as a remortgage I cannot believe it took three months, I have never had a straightforward remortgage take so long.

Why is it so difficult to get a valuation booked?
My loan to value is currently incorrect, so I paid for a valuation on 2nd June. Despite this, I'm still waiting for someone to actually arrange the appointment.
I've now called four times and, on the latest call, the team didn't even appear to have the request on their job sheet. Each time I'm told "give it another couple of days and someone will be in touch", yet nothing happens.
The whole process feels unnecessarily difficult. It's hard to speak to the right people, get clear information, or understand what is actually happening with the request. I seem to be constantly chasing for updates rather than receiving them proactively.
To make matters worse, the product range isn't particularly competitive, so the customer experience really needs to be better than this.
Very disappointing so far.

Avoid Accord Mortgages if you are buying a freehold property with an estate service charge exceeding £500 per year.
Accord approved my application, carried out a valuation, issued a mortgage offer and allowed my purchase to progress for almost 4 months. During that time I spent thousands of pounds on legal fees, searches, surveys and management pack costs.
Only after all of this time and expense did Accord decide they would not lend because the property has an annual estate service charge of over £500.
What makes this unacceptable is that this is not a new charge. It has existed for years and is a fundamental part of Accord's lending policy. Yet Accord never asked for the service charge amount before issuing the mortgage offer.
Had they asked one simple question at the beginning, they would have known immediately that the property did not meet their criteria and I could have chosen a different lender. Instead, they waited until thousands of pounds had been spent and the transaction was approaching exchange before refusing to proceed.
As a result, my purchase is now at risk, I have suffered significant financial loss, and months of time and effort have been wasted.
In my opinion, if a lender has a strict policy that they will not lend on properties with estate service charges above £500 per year, that check should be carried out before issuing a mortgage offer, not four months later after the buyer has committed substantial money to the transaction.
A deeply frustrating and costly experience.

Please avoid this lender their criteria on mortgages is shocking I went through a broker loans .co.uk who suggested accord would be a quicker process but dealing with accord was shear hell it was documentation after documentation 6 weeks on which was unnecessary as I work on mortgages myself so I had to pull the plug and say I’m not going ahead .I dealt with a different broker and different lender the whole process was hassle free and was completed in 2 weeks I wish I could recommend this broker I dealt with after to everyone because they were truly exceptional.please avoid accord at all costs they are not worth your buisness .

So I decided to call and see if I could have a break for a couple of months. When I asked the first guy for some information and to see if it was possible and his customer care skill was shocking to say the least . No compassion no explanation just pretty much I doubt it but I’ll put you through anyway. I then got put through to Inayah who was an absolute credit to your company. She reached out and asked how I was on a personal level and if I had any support etc.She also explained that she could offer support through the company if I needed it. She then explained all my options and gave me the help I was looking for. But honestly the girl was amazing and I’ve told my work colleges about how she turned the whole situation right round from the first guy being really poor to her being 10/10.

Hopeless! They include an account number on letters but not a customer number, to get your customer number you need to phone up and no one answers. All i want is to access my account, I dont understand why it has to be so complicated and why the ID i need isnt clearly included on my statements?

without any warning I was charged an arbitrary '1.15% loading fee' for having a lodger when I was told it was ok by customer service to have one ( even 2!). No where in the terms it is indicated that I would be charged for having a lodger and what the rate would be. I have been in touch 6 times with customer service and no one seems to know what the rules are so how am I supposed to know what to do, and why being penalised for an obbvious lack of clear rules? The only recourse is a formal complaint is wait 8 weeks and go to ombudsman. what a waste of my time and money!
