21 September 2026. Have updated this review as after numerous correspondence with Clearcheck I have finally received a full refund of £57 and I thank Vicky for her help with this

I was expecting to do a DBS check for a volunteer role I'd applied for, so when I received email from Clearcheck I assumed (wrongly) it was in this connection. I completed the application and paid £21.50 but then when more money was requested to upload documents, I didn't progress the application further. I contacted the volunteer organisation and they said they would sort out as I shouldn't need to pay anything else. A few days later I checked my bank account and have found that Clearcheck has taken a further £57 from my account without my permission. So far clear check have not completed any DBS and are not responding to my complaint

The company debited £8 from my bank account at the beginning of September. I gave no authorisation nor asked for any services from them. I can't find a contact number on their website to query this transaction.

Having checked further I see they have been taking £8 from my account for the last four months for their Premium Service. I did not sign up for this when I asked for a basic DBS check in May, something which I never completed as I found employment shortly afterwards without needing it.

I've been able to cancel the 'subscription' today (14th September) and will 'be debited for my last payment on 2nd October'.

I still haven't been able to find a contact number or email address to speak to them directly.

I would highly recommend NOT using this service for any DBS check.

I needed a check for work. Was charged £44.50 fee for a basic DBS they've since attempted to charge me a further "processing fee" of roughly £57 let alone the fact I've had to pay a further £15 for an "id documents verification service" from a 3rd party. This is extortionate especially for a basic DBS check, trying to charge me for services and fees I've either already paid for or never agreed too. This seems like an utter scam and I don't understand why they are on the government's list of approved DBS service providers.

Big scam!
After I canceled absolute everything with this company, they charged me more 8 pound for an automatic renewing (which I canceled on the 14/08/2026), and magicaly in their website, I still had my premium account with another bill scheduled for October.
It's impossible to get out of their system, which I did by their website and also asked by email.
Don't give any of your details to this company, they will keep charging you non-stop.

Aakriti replied to my message seeking information on a Saturday. They were polite, helpful, and saved me a lot of time I would have otherwise lost waiting for a response until Monday. I was genuinely surprised to even receive a reply, let alone such a polite and helpful one.

Do not use this service. Unauthorised re billing taking of money from account. I made the mistake of using them. Go direct to gov.uk site. Do not use these scammers

False advertising, incorrect DBS check and extortionate cost

Really disappointing experience. I specifically followed the link advertised for an Enhanced DBS check, yet the check that was processed was only a Basic DBS. This is not what I requested or paid for.

The service was also advertised as being fast, but the process took considerably longer than expected. Given the premium price, I expected the service to be both accurate and efficient.

What has been particularly frustrating is that, despite the error, they have refused to provide a refund. I have also asked for an email address so that I can formally raise a complaint, but they have been unwilling to provide one.

Overall, the experience has been incredibly frustrating. I paid an extortionate amount for a service that did not provide the DBS check I selected, was not as fast as advertised, and has then refused to properly address the issue.

I would strongly recommend checking exactly what type of DBS check you are purchasing before using this service.

My daughter selected your service based on an advertised upfront fee of £21.50. However, the billing process has been misleading and excessive:

She was initialised with an unexpected charge of £29.50 instead of the advertised rate.

A secondary charge of £57.00 was then taken before any process had even begun.

She was asked recently to submit documents via the portal which had already been submitted at the start of the application.

Upon accessing the provided link to submit her identity documents, she was prompted for an additional £12.50 payment.

As a comparison, direct DBS applications via the official GOV.UK portal require a single total payment of £21.50, with results typically processed within 72 hours.

As the application has not yet been submitted to the government processing system, my daughter is fully entitled to cancel the transaction under consumer protection legislation. I am formally requesting an immediate cancellation of this application and a full refund of all funds charged.

I am acting on my daughter’s behalf for this matter who is autistic and doesnt handle the stress of these types of matters.

What a con this outfit is. To submit her I.D's which is part of the £21.50 on the .Gov website you are trying to charge an additional £12.50 to submit on top of the so called £57 admin fee's.

Everything is wrong with this company tried to do a DBS check for my son it charged me a reasonable sum then put on a subscription for £57 which def isn’t highlighted at the start. Then they want you to pay another company to check who you are. Tried to get a refund but you CAN NOT CONTACT THIS COMPANY. I will be filing a fraud claim with my bank

We are stuck in an email loop with what feels like an AI agent.

My son accidentally setup a corporate account in the name of his employer whilst trying to get a basic DBS check. The employer would obviously like this to be removed, and has now got the DBS information required.

We have sent a number of really clear emails asking for the account to be deleted (it's not a difficult ask) but keep receiving spurious responses.

Dont use this company. I left a charity and no longer have access to work emails. My card was used to auto renew. Explained that my card should no longer be on the account. I was refused a refund. Never have i come across such an unprofessional company. Dont use go to someone honest.

I had an excellent customer service from Olivia who helped me professionally and swiftly with my application from the start to finish. My DBS form came quickly.
