Don't ever purchase Marshmallow policy.
I urge everyone to pay a little more and get insured with any other insurance company. MARSHMALLOW is terrible.
I dont ever leave reviews but i accidentally bought the car insurance twice and the £45 cancellation fee was mandatory. Their system does not twll you you already have a policy bought. The live chat was terrible. I was chatting with AI and when i asked for a member of team (an actual person), they replied back the next day. Very frustrating and dissapointing. Never ever coming back to Marshmallow again.

Buyer beware
Having recently been diagnosed with cancer, and not feeling well enough to drive, I allowed my daughter in law to drive my vehicle - not realising that she would not be covered. No - I didn’t read my policy before I allowed her to use the car….
Not only has Marshmallow declined the claim (even though we said we didn’t want to claim, and were merely advising them as a courtesy) - but they have cancelled my insurance.
And to top it off - they have now sent an email addressed “I hope you’re well” - NO I am not well - I HAVE CANCER - to tell me that they expect me to pay the balance of my year’s cover ( they they’ve cancelled) - and I have 7 days to pay.

With all insurance contracts, the policy holder has to ensure that all policy terms are adhered to. Failure to do so may necessitate the policy cancellation.
We understand how this situation can be challenging. It is stated in our Policy Wording that our team may cancel a policy where reasonable grounds have been found to do so.

I find it ridiculous and unacceptable…
I find it ridiculous and unacceptable that my policy was automatically renewed when I had tried to turn off the renewal because I had sold my car. I was unable to do so, and as a result, I was charged an extra £30 just to cancel the policy. This is an unreasonable charge and a terrible customer experience. I’m extremely disappointed with how this was handled and would not recommend your service based on this experience.
Avoid by all means.

Horrendus experience AVOID!!
Horrendus experience.
Firstly no mention of having to install a blackbox when processing the order (possibly hidden in the depths of T&Cs) but not shown anywhere in actual view.
Refused to insure me unless i gave them access to my bank account??(even though i paid upfront in full for the year) then when i refused to give them access to my bank account, they cancelled my account and charged me a £45 admin fee.
Disgrace of a company.. AVOID!!

The policy purchased was Marshmallow Move, which is a telematics policy requiring the Marshmallow app, location permissions and a tracking Tag.
These requirements are displayed during the quote journey and form part of the Move policy terms.
A £45 fee can apply to a Move policy where the Tag has already been dispatched, as costs have already been incurred in setting up and cancelling the policy.

AVOID
I selected Marshmallow because they were cheapest. I filled in all the cover required details and paid a deposit on my Barclaycard. I deliberately chose a "Non Monitoring" policy. I then proceeded to start to comply with their requirements. "Use app to take a photo of the front and back of your Driving License". Thought that was odd but did it. "Take a photo of yourself and upload it to the app". Thought that was odd but did it. Then when it came to the bank details it started to get very intrusive so I decided not to proceed. They said they couldn't proceed unless I gave them all the bank details they wanted, which by then I was not going to do, so I insured with Admiral, which was easy and non intrusive. For some reason Marshmallow started the policy without my bank details. I assumed under the Consumer Credit Act I had a cooling off period but they've advised me they'll charge me £30 to cancel. Furthermore yesterday they advised me "To validate your policy details, we need you to allow driving data sharing through the app in the next 7 days" and "In the app we will ask you to:
• Share your location
• Share your motion activity
• Allow background app refresh"
which I would never agree to in a million years. Had I known this was a requirement I would never have applied to take out a policy. This was never made clear so I'll have been defrauded of £30.
