Absolutely appalling service! I would not recommend. Prices are ridiculous and they do not care about the animals what so ever!

Consultation charge is high. It just keeps going up. Needs to be contained please. Doctor was fab as always. Thanks

The biggest complaint is that they closed our local vets without informing us and yet continued to send reminders as if from the same practice . So no notification of closure or details of our pets medical history sent to us . The practice used to be a friendly owner run environment that showed compassion and understanding . The whole vibe changed once medivet took over - impersonal, poor engagement and it was obvious the team were unhappy with their corporate masters , financed by private equity , only chasing profit

Brought my cat for a check up and to get prescription as she’s on life time medication. The vet had an attitude straight away which I couldn’t understand, the appointment lasted almost an hour during which 5 minutes was dedicated to my cat and the rest 50 minutes the vet spent questioning me if I was giving medication to my cat which I found very strange and rude. Too long to explain on here but she made me feel small, and the undermining tone throughout, even when I asked not to talk to me in that manner, she never apologised, gave me the prescription, never said bye to me. She wasn’t there for my cat as she didn’t acknowledge my cat, only the first 5 minutes; i know most vets are the same but to end up paying £58 for the ‘consultation’, I would at least expect a better attitude.
At least she weighed my cat and listened to her heart; couldn’t find all blood results on the system when asked and again, instead of apologising and saying I’m really sorry that we didn’t detail all blood results on our record and it should have never happened, she chose to attack me and be defensive when asked.
Been with this surgery for a few years now, see different vets but this one is the first; before you start jumping to your conclusions and judging and be rude, think about doing your job first, and I mean doing your job properly, ‘read’ your lectures to your friends and family but show respect to your patients

Excellent service, really care about your pets

Brilliant service and staff very friendly all very relaxed managed to get our cat bailey in on the day that I phoned which was brilliant of them got the medication required so a happy cat and customer.

Leo has been with Medivet for years ,he has always been treated so well.The last two times at Thorpe bay branch have been unacceptable, Leo is such a nervous cat and always poos in his carrier, The answer you get from the vet is" we don't have many staff on" The Vet we saw today was a cold ,clinical and and in my opinion just there because he had to be,When you get really upsetting news compassion and empathy is key.Its the second time Leo has seen him.I will not allow Leo to see him again,Such a shame we may go elsewhere.

This was my first visit. Staff were caring, professional and helpful. The vet was thorough with my pets health check. Couldn’t fault the staff.

I’d have given 5 stars, but had to take away one star for appearances of the building, I had to enter through the hospital entrance, as I have access needs. The outside was full of weeds and unkept. Upon entering, I walked down the corridor and went straight into the vets room. The area needs freshening up with paint and the table was full of marks and was quite rusty.

This is my first impression, and not seen or been in the reception to get a full viewpoint.

I have been going to Medivet Thurmaston for close to a decade. My pet used to really enjoy coming to the vets and still loves the attention that the nurses give him. Having said this my last couple of visits have been terrible. My dog has a long term health issue to which he requires regular medication. As a customer i purchase a prescription from the vets and use this to buy the medication online. i have been following this process for a fair few years that was until they changed the process about a year ago. I rang up the reception and requested a prescription to which i was told it can take 48 hours, this was fine. After this time i went into the vets and requested an update and was told it hadn't been looked at by the vet yet. Whist annoying i requested for it to be done and mentioned that i would come back in tomorrow. The next day came and i walked back into the vet to then be told that they can not give me a prescription as they have changed the policy about handing out written prescriptions. As you can imagine i was not happy about this and questioned why i wasn't told this the day before to which they had no answer. Not having much choice i followed this new procedure as i need the medication urgently. For a little bit of context i am also on the pet plan that the Medivet offers so i get my flea and worming as well as 2 appointments every year free. Fast forward to this latest disappointment a year after the last fiasco i rang the vets on Wednesday and requested the prescription again and made the order with my pharmacy following the new requirements. I was assured that this would be done within 24 hours. Friday comes along and i pop into the vets for an update after 2 days and the receptionist seems to have a look on her face which i let me know it hadn't been done, She asks me to wait while she talks to the vet. 10 mins later she comes out to tell me that as it had been over 6 months since they had last seen my dog that they would not be able to give me the medication without seeing my dog. At this point i was fuming and reminded them that it was a life long condition and my last visit to the vets was just under 6 months as part of their own pet plan in which i explicitly mention that i will soon be requiring a top up of medication. The response i received really just annoyed me even more, " The vet you dealt with is not longer with us". I reminded them that this was not my issue and i am being inconvenienced because of their miscommunication. At this point the new vet comes out relaying the same information with no solution again as well as a stubbornness to exercise any discretion. At this point he takes a look at my record and then offers to have another vet see my pet free of charge the next day like he was doing me a favour knowing very well i am eligible for one as a customer of the pet plan anyway. It become clear again they were not going to budge so i scheduled the appointment and left. The appointment goes ahead despite the 40 min waiting time after my scheduled appointment time and a vet visit of about 5 mins which was just the vet looking at the way my dog was walking and proclaiming yes he needs the medication. i thought at this point this would be it but no medivet finds a way to make you do all the running around. After the appointment i waited until Tuesday before ringing asking for an update to which the receptionist responded yes we were waiting for you to send us the name of the pharmacy. The level of incompetency was incredible i had the initial receptionist confirm that they had received the email 5 day previously and after my appointment on the Saturday but clearly this was too much for them to handle. It really seems like if you don't want to pay 4x the amount for a medication and order through the vets themselves they will really go out their way to make your life miserable. I am now doing some research into moving vets i have had enough !

Came in today for Ollie health check from arrival on reception to seeing Stella first class service once again . Stella was very thorough and checked everything she should asked if I had any concerns etc left feeling happy . Keep up the good work we really appreciate all of the staff .

We were contacted initially by telephone where we were advise what to expect on arrival, costs were explained and all information was forwarded to us in an email.
On arrival, we received a polite welcome and Ben, the Vet that we saw was very thorough , very honest and he listened to my concerns.
We discussed and agreed on a plan going forward for the treatment of my Dog.
My first experience of this Practice but I would definitely recommend them.
