They only get a one star as there is no option for zero!!
They left the vehicle on a neighbour’s drive when delivering. I had paid to have a tow bar on the vehicle which they forgot. This meant I had a team of guys stood about waiting for the replacement vehicle, as work could not be started without the right equipment.
On collection they said their T&C’s state they will pick it up within 72 hours of the agreed collection date/time. Their vehicle was here for a further six days!!!
They then took £33.00 out of my account for fuel. It had been delivered with the fuel tank half empty. I took a photo as proof. I queried this, asking if it should have been left with a full tank. They confirmed by email that it normally is but not always. I have asked for my £33.00 to be returned as there was the same amount of fuel in the vehicle as when it was delivered. They have refused, just stating to refer to the T&C’s. They have not asked to see any evidence. They have not provided any evidence and have now stated they are doing nothing about this. Appalling customer service. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!

In December 2024 we rented a car/van from NATIONWIDE HIRE4U and even it was wintertime, it was not equipped with four winter tires! There was a crack in the windscreen, we reported this to the company. Driving on the motorway we got another crack, the windscreen had two/three cracks. In the further course I got an invoice of more than 860,00 Pounds!!! If I would have to pay for the repair - I contacted a company in Manchester and Germany - the bill would have been around 450 Pound/ 510€. Never during our e-mail conversation the clerks of Nationwide took notice to my questions, they never showed me thei own invoice to compare it with their demand. There was no reduction because the glas had a crack which was not caused by us.
This company seems to me to be the most consumer unfriendly business I ever in my life had to deal with! Never again!

I would not recommend this company, zero customer service and zero loyalty to long-term clientele. We have been hiring Luton vans for over three years, sometimes two vans for several days amounting to thousands and thousands of ££'s worth of business. On our most recent hire, we had a branch sticking out of the hedgerow clip and crack the passenger side mirror. The genuine part on Mercedes website £23.50. We are being asked to pay £400 excess on an insurance claim for a cracked mirror. Absolutely diabolical. You would think a company this large would have boxes of these kind of parts, it's a simple procedure to snap them in.
Charge me £100 for a £23.50 part with an admin fee... but to make an insurance claim and issue a loyal customer with a bill for £470 (with the admin fee) is absolutely disgusting.
Will never use this company again! And will be posting this review periodically on multiple plattorms!

I've been a returning customer of Nationwide Hire for nearly five years and I genuinely find their service to be outstanding and hassle-free. Without exception, every booking has been smooth and the delivery / collection of the vehicles is exemplary. Every vehicle has been clean and reliable, and the customer service has always been fantastic. Highly recommended!

I spoke with a man named Andrew who agreed to drop off both lorries on a Friday morning, the first lorry showed up on Thursday morning which isn't a big deal but we have a small yard and there isn't much room and they gave us no notice that it was coming, expecting the second lorry to come Thursday or Friday morning like we had agreed (I had 6 guys waiting to load the lorry for a job on Saturday) the said it was delayed at first then said it will be here between 12 and 2 which wasn't great but we could have managed with a bit of a longer day to get it done, 2 o'clock comes and he tells me 3 O'clock then when 3 O'clock comes he tells me its been in the garage all day being repaired and it wont be here until 5 O'clock, by this point I had spoken to several different people at nation wide hire who were more than unhelpful Andrew said "I'm just a rep" I had made the deal with him in my eyes he should have taken some responsibility or tried to help but they lied to me all day it eventually arrived at 6 O'clock the guys had gone home at 5 so 6 guys wages all day for no work waiting for a lorry I was being told would be here any minute all day I have used a few lorry hire companies but never had to deal with some little organization or customer care, we are a small family run business we don't have that kind of money to waste on wages etc. so it was a massive problem and they didn't care at all on top of that the lorries were crap one had 3 broken straps on the curtain side cab had rubbish and a vape inside I had the repair the curtain straps my self one had no taco paper which I understand is the drivers responsibility but we had it for 3 days I could have come with one roll, I would personally never use them again I lost a days hire due to late delivery I had 6 guys wages to pay for no work and then a massive delay on the Saturday (almost cost me a job) when the lorry was loaded it almost broken down on the m25 we was doing max 20mph (less on hills) because the DPF was blocked, we eventually found a safe place to try and fix it with no help from nationwide hire so another 30mins wasted time there communication is terrible and seems to be run by a lot of incompetent people who should learn how to pick up the phone and tell the truth about the lorry's ETA and run a business properly
STAY AWAY!! SAVE YOUR MONEY AND SAVE THE STRESS BETTER OFF WITH A DONKEY AND CART THAN USING THESE GUYS

Delivered vehicle on time and collected it a few days after collection was due. Vehicle was suitable for the job and there were no problems encountered during its use. I would recommend this company.

Delivery and pick up of tail lift went well. We did need the pick up to be quick as the van was not allowed to stay after we moved and this did take a few phone calls to ensure it happened but it was picked up and all was well

Booked and paid for a van hire (including a deposit). They cancelled at the last minute, saying no van available.

Still waiting for a refund, FOUR WEEKS after the booking.

After hiring a van for 24 hours all was fine. We realised the night before collection that we may need a couple more hours so called and was told we could only have until midday instead of 9.30 but would be charged a full 24 hours. That was fine, we rushed to move house so the van would be ready for collection, didn’t top up tiny bit of fuel used as would have taken us over mid day. …..
Van then left outside our old house for 3 days until I chased them up to collect. Didn’t want to be held responsible if it was stolen.
2 weeks later just been charged another £40 for fuel
£440 for just over 24 hours hire.

This company should be avoided. High prices are fine if the service and vehicle you receive are good.
I hired a 7.5t lorry to move to France.
It was left in a side street 3 days before it was booked and the key posted. No handover. No check list. No info on things needed. The vehicle was dirty. Had a service due light on for 5 months before. The suspension banged on one side. The add blue light came on after less than 100 miles costing me more money. The vehicle went in to limp mode in France at night in the dark and we had to drive in limp mode until we could find a garage open that had add blue for sale.
This vehicle was not fit for the journey it was hired for.
DO NOT HIRE FROM THIS COMPANY.
THEY DONT CARE ABOUT ANYTHING AFTER YOU HAVE PAID!
AVOID!!!!!

One of the worst companies I've ever had to deal with. Not o nly are their vans twice the price of other companies, their customer service is disgusting.

Book 2 vans for 11am delivery. Told the day before that one can be there for midday the other some time before 5pm? Do you want them or a refund.

Told I want a refund so miraculously they find 2 vans that can be delivered at 11am so I 'can't be refunded'

I have absolutely zero expectation of these vans arriving and Marcelles customer service is absolutely disgusting. I've never spoken to a more cocky, arrogant little twirp in my life.

Great company to deal with. A seamless and a really easy process. Highly recommend and we wouldn't use any other hire company now.

This company is overpriced and unreliable. I was left waiting for 2 hours for a towing vehicle which I had specified had to be at my location by 6 in the evening. The outcome of this was we missed our pre arranged collection time putting our business in jeopardy. The vehicle arrived filthy full of mud and rubbish. No time to clean it as we needed it do an event the next day.
When I hired I asked if I had to pay toll fees to which the said that as they owned the vehicle and it was used by many others using toll roads they paid. This was not the case at all and I received penalty notices. When I challenged them about it the person I spoke to denied it, obviously annoyed by being challenged by a woman and hung the phone up after shouting over me. I wrote a letter of complaint but no one got back to me. Looking at some of the other reviews they really don’t care so I would advise to find an alternative hire company. They are also really overpriced

've been using Nationwide Van Hire for the past three years and I genuinely can't fault them. Every booking has been smooth, every van has been clean and reliable, and the customer service has always been top-notch. Whether it's short-term hire or longer trips, they've consistently delivered exactly what I needed without any issues. It's rare to find a company that maintains such high standards over time, but Nationwide Van Hire has done just that. Highly recommended!

They dropped off vehicle early. The delivery driver was very respectful

Easy to book, most of the time they have availability, prices are reasonable considering they drop and pick up the van.
Please bear in mind that sometimes they pick up the vehicle after hours or weekend and insist on leaving the key somewhere outside for them to collect. This makes me uncomfortable.
Spare tyre may not be available and if there is a puncture, especially outside working hours, there will be a hefty charge to sort out the tyres by them.
If there is a PCN or congestion charge notice, you will be paying 2 admin fees on top of the penalty charge, one by Nationwide and other by the hire company. We were charged £80 as admin fee ( 35+45). Nationwide is an intermediary, not the hire company.
Despite all the above, we regularly hire vans from them for their efficiency, price and availability.

Minibus itself was good and at a reasonable price, the only downside is that although collection is due within 3 days after the end of the lease, the van is still sat on my driveway 5 days later with no confirmed date of pick up, despite numerous phone calls chasing up. Even threatening to charge rent for use of my driveway does not make any difference.

This was my first time using an online service and I wasnt sure what to expect. I had quite a tight timeframe in which to use the van so I was worried about it being there on time. When I arrived at my office the next morning the van was already there and a quick phone call told me where the key was hidden. The van was nearly new, had plenty of fuel in it and everything was great. The van performed perfectly for what I needed to do and the job was finished in the early afternoon. I parked the van at the office and the next day a gentleman arrived to collect it. He had a quick check around the van and that was it. It was a very smooth and easy process which was absolutely stress free. I would recommend NationwideHire for all your vehicle hire requirements.
