Worst people ever rip off people charging over a thousand dollars this plumber named don ripped us off with the price all he did was drain jetting a pipe then quoted a thousand dollars very unfair price wasn’t very upfront about the price don’t go to thease plumbers i recommend stay away where only in our early 20s and demanding more then a thousand dollars and refused to leave the premises until we paid and was very confronting saying find a way and get a loan we will be taking this comsumer affairs disgusting people forcing money out of a young couple who doesn’t make a lot and refused to leave until paid then had to get approved from the manager for him to leave don’t go with thease plumbers I recommend stay away at all cost

Absolutely appalling service. This company is overpriced and has very poor communication. We were left with no hot water for a weekend when they had said they would fix it on Friday. The plumber came to fix it on Friday, went away to collect a part saying he would be back in a couple of hours and never returned. There was no communication from the company about what was going on. After chasing up with the company they eventually said it would be fixed on the Monday. Will never use them again and suggest others don't.

They are never available TODAY. I was pressured to paying for VIP membership and since then have never been able to use them as they never have anyone available today, no matter the service type. I will not use again. Their costs are also very high.

Tech attended elderly neighbours house as ducted gas system in fault. Stayed 30 minutes and did not get out ladder to access roof mounted gas system.
I investigated and fault 49 was on controller, quick Google search and system needs resetting via PCB card in roof space.
Quoted $7600 for new system and took $500 deposit, Spoke to Service Manager who change tune to PCB board failure only and an additional $2160 to fix.
I access roof space and pressed reset button fixing the problem in 10 minutes.
This company has taken nearly $11k from my very elderly lady neighbour over several years.
Disgraceful taking advantage of our eldery.

What a disgusting company. They ripped my 85 yr old neighbour off quoting over $9k for a new HWS and demanded he paid up front. They pray on the elderly - absolutely horrible. Have. Reported to DFT and ombudsman! Stay away !

The best thing I did was tell them to go away. Yes you only pay $49 to get quote but for repairing leaking pipe 60cm from water metre I was quoted $2700.
I got a local private plumber out next day and job was done in 4 hrs for less than $1000.
Be very careful with this company and be prepared to tell them to leave and get a competitive quote.
They deserve less than 1⭐️

I was impressed with the response I received from Service Today. They responded to my call the same afternoon. Sean diagnosed the problem with my 10y.o. hot water system and worked out a replacement price on the spot. Everything was organised & replacement working 2 days later. Jackson & Ty were very thorough with set up & testing. Even replaced a brand new pressure relief valve because it was not up to their standards. Eddy did the electrical with confident experience. Everything flowed so smoothly. One trade following the other seamlessly. I would recommend Service Today with confidence.

I contacted service today.There was a leak that needed fixing.Had a plumber come do an inspection cost was $420.In the inspection he had checked the main pipes under the house and no leaks.The main water pipe ran along side the house to the corner down and out to the front yard at a 45° angle to the water metre.This is what the plumber said.Cost $5000.
I was also quoted $600 to change the rubber seals on the toilet.
The plumber recommended to call and get a second quote.We contacted another plumber.I let him know there was an inspection done.The second plumber did an inspection under the house followed the main water pipe along side of the house did a 90° bend from the corner to the front section of the house.The.water pipe stopped bent 90° going out inline with the water meter .Was full of water where the pipe was broken.
The cost was $1000 including repairs and and replacing the damaged pipe underneath the house.Job was done on the spot
I contacted service today explained everything to the manager.Ask for a refund that the inspection incorrect,denied the refund.Clearly the inspection was not done correctly.There was no a duty of care.The plumber was more concerned about signing me up for a discount on future work at a cost of $140.
Be careful if your dealing with this company.They are very expensive and you don't know if your dealing with a trade person or a salesman.Will.never deal with Service trade again.

Firstly, I am disappointed that I can only leave one star. If I had the choice, I’ll give them zero stars.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with Service Today was so disappointing that I feel others should be aware.

After spending nearly a month trying to find a plumber willing to do a very simple job, I finally engaged Service Today. The work involved freezing a pipe and installing a tap. The plumber was on site for approximately 15 minutes, yet I was charged around $500. I thought the price was excessive for such a straightforward job.

To make matters worse, the plumber left without cleaning up, leaving me to deal with the mess myself. I expected a much higher standard of professionalism.

Now, around two years later, the fitting has failed completely, resulting in water flooding the car park. I was left to deal with the damage and rectify the problem at my own expense.

For the premium price Service Today charges, I expected quality workmanship, attention to detail and a lasting repair. Unfortunately, my experience was the exact opposite.

Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Service Today. I found them to be extremely expensive, the workmanship did not stand the test of time, and the level of service fell well short of what I expected.

Very negative experience with one of their plumbers in Brisbane this morning, in relation to my hot water system. After he looked at the unit, he informed me that the ignition pack and one of the regulators was broken and needed fixing, insisting that Chinese parts are used in these systems and that they have a high failure rate. The quote to repair was $1511. He also said it would be worth considering a whole new system that would be around the $3300 mark. After questioning him further he couldn't really properly explain how/why those parts weren't working (ie how did he test them and could he show me). So I asked him to email me the quote and that I would get further quotes before committing to anything. I then had a different plumber attend, who quickly identified that the system itself was completely fine, and that the only issue was trapped air in the gas line after switching to a new bottle on a dual-cylinder set-up. I find it absolutely appalling that their plumber was trying to convince me that there were broken/faulty parts that needed replacing, for a high cost mind you. I don't know if he was just trying to hit KPIs or boost his own commissions, or whether his level of training has been unsatisfactory, but no business should be allowing that kind of thing to occur without ramification. I have since looked up reviews of the company (regretfully I had not done this prior) and have seen that over-quoting and upselling/scare tactics seem to be common themes. Also, nowhere can I see their claims of 4.8 stars from 5600+ reviews, as they advertise on their website. At a minimum I hope they performance manage the plumber that outright lied to me this morning and tried to fleece me out of $1511. Absolutely disgusted with this business.

If i could give less then 1 star then I would.

Was told someone would be at my house between 8am and 1pm. Noone showed up so I rang their number and was told the plumber rang in sick today, nobody contacted me to tell me this. I was then told that instead of the $120 call out fee it would now be $280 even though it is not my fault that noone showed up and I was not contacted.

No offer for any resolution except you must pay $280 now.

Not worried about the money, I will now go and pay another plumber that money that values customers and will contact their client.

I would not recommend Service Today to anyone

$49 to come out to quote replacing one power point with new one, would be $15 for PP and 45 for labour

Would take 25 mins to complete, nope we must see it
Ripoff company would want you to come out to quote you ridiculous price but if you say no, it stills costs costs you $49

My negative experience with Service Today identical to other negative reviews on this site, so no need to repeat.
What I can add is that I booked , through a website, what I thought was a local plumber, but Service Today showed up.
My advice is if you see a "local" business on a website phone them, don't book on line. Ask them who you are actually booking with. If they say "Service Today" maybe look for another option.

Warning these greedy people are quoting double. Dont engage

This company preys on the elderly and vulnerable; they visited my elderly parents, wrote up a grossly inflated quote and then told them they would shift existing jobs to fit them in and there was no time for another quote.

Do not engage under any circumstances

A WARNING TO ANYONE THINKING OF USING THIS COMPANY. I had Service Today come to my home to replace three light switches and two external downlights. After arriving late, Jake provided a quote for the work. The light switches were $293.88 for a single switch and $389.86 for a double, supply and fit. These are priced at less than $10 at Bunnings. The total quote came to $1939.48. I was furious and ordered Jake to leave immediately. I have attached the Invoice for call out fee to prove they came today. I wish I had checked out the reviews first.

Over $550 to tighten a toilet seat and change a light fixture for my 94 year old mum. What on earth???

Asked for a service to fix the pipe that had been shrunk. It needed a little extension to attached to the main pipe and also 4 to 5 clips to help secure the pipe on the side of the house. He charged me 600.00 for materials and labour. What a ripped off! I maybe a woman but I am not stupid.
I warn others not to use the company Service Today. Btw his name is Brian he said he live in Samsonvale 4500. Just a few minutes from where I live. He pretended to call someone and get back to me. He said he didn’t own the business he merely just an employee and reduce his price to 400. The call out pay is 49, I gave him 50 cash and said no thanks I cannot trust you and I am not stupid. Have a good day keep ripping people karma will get you!

Please be extremely careful with Service Today.

If you’re in a vulnerable or urgent situation (no hot water, pressure, etc.), get multiple quotes immediately and don’t let the “we shifted jobs for you” line rush you into signing. What they do feels opportunistic and exploitative and, quite frankly, should be illegal.

Our story

We have just had a gas hot water unit replaced at approximately 250% of an average quote.

When I contacted ServiceToday on Friday regarding the failed gas hot water system, I was told the next available actual job day would be Tuesday. A few hours later, the technician arrived saying other jobs had been “shifted” and he could help me straight away. Under pressure — no hot water for tenants, Friday afternoon, and feeling completely out of my depth — I trusted him and signed the quote for $4.6k.

What I didn’t realise until later that day the same Rinnai 26L continuous flow system is routinely installed for $1,600–$2,500 in Brisbane area. I felt emotionally manipulated and taken advantage of. As a stay-at-home mum recently managing our investment property, I relied entirely on their professionalism and integrity. Instead, I was hit with a quote / bill more than double the normal price.

The charity branding on their vans and website gave me a false sense of trust and security. I now feel that was used deliberately to lower people’s defences.

Stay away!

My step father got services today to fix few lights, they took advantage of his anxiousness of next door’s fuse box blown up, and almost convinced him of spending over 10K to replace the whole fuse box! The only reason they couldn’t go ahead is because he didn’t have the money and got me involved. He still ended up paying for a very expensive invoice for very basic things. And they started changing an earthing rod before asking for permission or shown him what is wrong at the first place. And I am still waiting for a compliance certificate to be emailed! Do not use them!
