When I moved in I signed up for “extra care”, a service for customers who need extra help with their services.
I was not offered the benefits I had been entitled to. The bill came and I was charged for a three bed house and I live in a one bed flat.
I argued because obviously I didn’t have the money, on benefits, to pay for three people’s water. So I had to ask a relative
I found out on their site about the benefit 50% discount for people on low income, they applied to my account from this November.
They also charged me again for a three bedroom house, and have charged me double becusee £53 five times is not £133
So I am being charged quadruple what I owe essentially and they have stolen money from my dad.
Rip off SES.
Just moved home on the 13/04/26 we got a refund from ses for £184. And now for 11 days they have said we have an outstanding balance of £251. We used on average 3200litres a day , really. Terrible firm I’m glad we’ve moved to a different supplier hope there better.
SES - Get your act together!
Out of the blue, received a letter today (via the post) - "unfortunately we've not heard from you about missed payments" (PLURAL) - threatening to involve a Debt Collections Agency - UK Search Limited. Straight out of the blue - no previous communication on "bills" for months - no letters, no texts, no e-mails.
I logged on to my Account and see that a £52 bill was outstanding from March - 1ST I have heard about this.
Completely unacceptable!
Posting their level of service on Social Media this week and will contact OFWAT Complaints Team.

but well look at the reviews I can see why they only get a two star review. I’ve given a one star been having threatening letters for him for the past two years because I don’t pay my water bill monthly I pay it weekly and their computer system can’t deal with it. I’ve spoken to their agents numerous times and then spent another 45 minutes yesterday talking to one of their agents who couldn’t give me a brief on what was the issue how much was owed how much was paid and I’ve emailed and asked for a manager to phone me which I was promised would be done yesterday and I haven’t heard from them. This coming inside of them fitting a new meter which they fitted incorrectly and we had a water leak for a week which was pouring water out down the street from four different water metres but didn’t seem to be a priority for them. I don’t hold much out in getting a resolve from the issues I’ve raised with them if the reviews or anything to go by but I’m afraid I think we’re trapped with who supplies our water and cannot change water supplies next step by suppose will be ombudsman
I have paid monthly installments to SES…
I have paid monthly installments to SES Water since our housing association ceased collecting the water payments as part of the rent years ago. I am recovering from major surgery for cancer and so am not on top of everything right now. I missed y installment by 3 days and they have cancelled my payment plan. I spoke to them on th phone and the agent sounded like he was stoned and was no help what so ever. Piss poor service. Why do we continue to pay these companies when all they do is pay huge wages to their CEOs and dump literal poop in our rivers and seas!
Additional Water Pipe Supplies
A discount under the Lead Pipe Replacement Scheme was promised to be applied to our application and quotation for the supply of water pipes and meters. However, this discount was not included in the initial quotation dispite being told our development would qualify. When this was raised, SES Water reviewed the application and subsequently applied the discount, which resulted in delays to the quotation process.
Further errors and discrepancies were identified between the initial and revised quotations. These issues required correction, causing additional delays while the quotation was amended.
Once the quotation had been agreed and paid in full, we were promised an update, which was never received. Furthermore, all previous communications and the project application were lost within SES Water’s IT system. Fortunately, we had retained copies of all correspondence and documentation, which we then had to resend as proof of application.
The receipt issued for settling the quotation was incorrect, as it was addressed to the wrong location. We were assured that this would be corrected before the end of the financial year, as requested. However, the corrected receipt was only provided several months later, after repeated follow-ups. This caused unnecessary time expenditure and negatively impacted our accounts and tax return.
Throughout the process, our application was transferred between multiple representatives within the company. Each time we contacted SES Water to request updates, we were required to re-explain the situation, resulting in further inefficiency and delays.
The application was refused three times by the local authority, and SES Water failed to communicate this to us. During this period, thousands of pounds of our funds remained in SES Water’s account for over 12 months.
When works eventually commenced—more than 12 months after the initial application—they began prior to the required public notices and council approval. This led to significant disruption on the high street, leaving several businesses, shops, and a school without access for several days. The local authority had to intervene, as they had not granted consent for the works to begin.
As a result, I was forced to suspend my own work in order to coordinate their activity on-site, the public, access and local business access leading to a loss of earnings and time. Additionally, large amounts of excavated material was left outside a working garage, preventing vehicle access and leaving a customer’s car stranded inside the premises for 24 hours.
Overall, the lack of communication, repeated administrative errors, and disruption caused have resulted in a significant loss of time and income.
Like pulling teeth!
I had a credit on my account at the end of a 6 monthly billing cycle, which amounted to around 2 months payments. So politely asked for this to be refunded, a simple request you would think! However after multiple email exchanges they don't seem to grasp the concept. They are assuming my water consumption is going to increase substantially over the next billing period, and I will need this credit. In frustration I have cancelled payment by direct debit, and will settle my bills on arrival, every 6 months.
Avoid at all cost
Ask SES waters for a Suspect access request and you find out that this company runs a credit check in your name without your consent just to obtain your details and then starting to overcharge and billing you. I've been charged for a 4 person household and I live alone in a one bedroom flat. As the property don't even have a water meter. Furthermore the company went out of its way and without taking me to court made a attachment to earnings through DWP. Now I have to pay the overcharged bill which changed from 210£ to 800£ without any explanation or meter readings. Thank you SES Water for messing people's life's up. To me this company is a criminal organisation, they don't need meter readings to charge you. If I ever find the hot tub or swimming pool in my flat which would be the only explanation for a bill amount from 800£ lol. I will seek legal advice and take them to court. As I never given them any of my detail neither did I gave my consent to a credit check or becoming a customer at this company. Modern day criminal company if I could give 0 stars I would.
Appalling Water Provider
I received a letter today stating I haven't being paying bills when I have a direct debit setup and I have evidence that bills are have been and are being paid. SES Water have now cancelled my current plan! This is the third time this has happened since moving into a new property, approximately once a year! It now seems only fair to get a solicitor on the case. I wish I could use a different water provider! Totally incompetent!
Must be the worst water company ever
Must be the worst water company ever. Completely inept . I rented as a disabled pensioner a flat on the vulnerable list . Bullied incessantly by SES water . Gave notice that I was moving , suddenly sent a bill for in excess of £2000.00 pounds which was very clearly wrong. I complained and complained. by email Given the royal runaround. Then threatened with anengineers inspection, despite the fact I was moving out within days. Eventually SES water agreed not to send an engineer. One afternoon returned to flat to find that engineers had visited and left a card. Complained again. This time threatened with bailiffs. Complained
numerous times by email to the CEO Ian Cains. Eventually I received an email from Ian Cains to say that it was an error ( ?) and the account was in credit. That was March 2025. Despite requesting my money back. costs and damages not a penny. Emails to the CEO now returned and marked blocked. Totally unacceptable at every level. I asked to attend
.No response. Sent to the press . Told by SES water to go to CCW which was appallingly . No idea of the law or how serious the case was. Like SES water a could not care less attitude. OFWAT equally bad. How and why is this even allowed? Now having to litigate as a disabled pensioner. Even worse has anyone else just walked away or paid bills that were wrong?

I paid this company £248.76 on their automated service in error on 4th November 2025 and despite contacting them on a daily basis I am yet to receive any refund. They are generally polite and helpful but nothing materialises, their finance department has no contact details available. This is now in the hands of my bank and I expect substantial compensation re stress.
Massive bill and leak
Reported a leak months ago after receiving a massive bill i was in the middle of moving and Informed everyone including the incoming tenant, they have still not fixed the leak and have claimed i never informed them, I was forced to pay the bill in full and was told in no uncertain terms that even if the leak was fixed I wouldn't get any money back, it has been established that the leak is down to them and I am still fighting to claim back money I am owed even after talking to the rudest man on the phone who then lied about me reporting the leak and massive bill.
Only getting a star as only way to…
Only getting a star as only way to write review. My treatment by this company today was disappointing, to be a long standing customer and receive poor service. Called to try and make an arrangement on my account which has never been an issue, to be advised this can be done but extremely high costs advised unable to commit to this and no advised no arrangements can be sent. This how we treat vulnerable customers and people finically needing help. Great service
Had a compulsory water meter installed
Had a compulsory water meter installed, on the day of installation, it seemed to be leaking water, I notified the installer who drained it, and within a few minutes was full again, he proceed to drain it again, and again it refilled, he called his head office who told him that we have a low water level. I now have a stream running outside my house and a water logged drive way, an inspector called and confirmed a leak, possibly on the connection, he scheduled a repair job for Friday the 14th, called on Monday to be told an emergency repair job was booked in for Friday the 14th November, called them this morning to be told that it been rescheduled as it’s according to them not an emergency anymore. I guess water meter leaking = £’s. Profit comes first I guess, it doesn’t matter that we have a disabled adult in the house and a new born.
It’s now been re scheduled for Tuesday the 18th, but have been told it’s not guaranteed. If I could give a zero star rating I would have. Angry 😡 customer
Money scammers
Wouldn’t even rate them a 1!
I notified SES Water and cancelled my account six weeks in advance of moving house. Despite this, I received a bill charging me for usage after I had already vacated the property.
I contacted SES Water via email three times. I only received one reply, which was unclear and did not address the issue, and received no further response. I then called to speak with someone, but the call was disconnected. When I rang back, I was spoken to rudely and was not offered any meaningful assistance.
This experience has been extremely frustrating and reflects poor customer service and communication.
SES WATER
SES WATER. THE MOST NOTORIOUS PEOPLE ON THE EARTH. THEY CUT MY WATER OFF. I SENT THEM A PROOF OF PAYMENT, AND THIS IS THEIR RESPONSE.
For us to investigate this matter further and assist you effectively, could you kindly provide your SES Business Water account number?
As you’ve mentioned that payments have been made to your account, it is unlikely that we would have disconnected your water supply. However, we would like to confirm this and ensure everything is in order on our end.
Once we have your account details, we will investigate and provide a full update as soon as possible.
Thank you for your cooperation, and please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions.
INCOMPETENT PEOPLE AND COMPANY. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THEM.
SINCE WEDNESDAY, 24-09-2025, AND NO RESULT OF THE INVESTIGATION.
Extortionate bill increases
Just received our bill to discover a 54% increase on the same period last year despite only a 3% increase in usage.
Unjustifiable and extortionate price increase.
Mixed messages on lead replacement
An SES engineer told me I qualified for the lead replacement scheme, and SES sent me a letter explaining the scheme only to be told I don't qualify after I have already booked to have the work done on my side. Why send a letter about the scheme to my address if I am then told I don't qualify just by providing my address on the phone?
