Simply Switch Incompetence

I contacted Simply Switch last year Sept 2021 to switch from my then current energy supplier Bulb as I was concerned they were going into administration. I went onto the comparison website and switched from Bulb to British Gas Evolve. The tariff was slightly higher but due to Bulb's problems at the time it felt safer. I spoke with a Simply Switch rep and received an email to state it had gone through and there was nothing for me to do. I waited but nothing happened. I chased it up with Simply Switch using the reference on the email stating I had 'Switched energy supplier!' I was told by the Simply Switch customer service rep that everything was fine. No reason to be concerned but due to admin problems it would take a bit of time before Bulb could process the switch. I left it for a bit. Then someone came to the house to read the metres and said that it was because we were switching companies, but did not know who the new supplier was. Reassured I left it thinking it was all finally going through. I was in credit on my account and told not to worry so I didn't. Time passed by and still Bulb were taking DD payments from my account- and then there was talk of an impending energy crisis. I contacted Switch again- again I was told there was nothing on their system to suggest any problems and that this contract should have gone through. I contacted British Gas (when you look up British Gas Evolve, British Gas contact details come up), who apparently cannot see what British Gas Evolve details are on their system. However Customer Service rep told me she would look into it. I forwarded the email on and waited. I contacted Switch again- to be told I needed to contact Bulb (who are impossible to contact!) I called Switch again. I then was told a manager would call me back as a matter of urgency on BH Monday. No one phoned. Today I phoned British Gas asking how to direct my complaint as it is unclear how to complain to British Gas Evolve. I have just come off the phone with a customer care rep with British Gas who has informed me the 'Order' was never requested. No one had put the request in. Simply Switch sent an email confirming a change of tariff and switch to British Gas Evolve to me and yet no one from Evolve have received this order. It has taken numerous phone calls and months to discover. Today I tried to call customer care services at Simply Switch and yet again have come across the voice message 'We are unable to take your call due to Covid'. I am now on a variable rate with Bulb facing ever increasing tariffs thanks to Simply Switch's complete incompetence, terrible communication and total irresponsibility.

No cashback after 12 months. Angry.

It is now almost 12 months since I used Simply Switch via TopCashback to switch to British Gas. No sign of the cashback although I have been a customer of BG since September 2021. TopCashback shows transaction as pending.
Why have I not been paid out….most annoying and feel that I am being cheated.

Received a cold call from Simply Switch…

Received a cold call from Simply Switch around August 2021 saying they were British Gas. They couldn't quote me a firm tariff but switched me from my existing supplier to British Gas anyway without my authority.

Discovered that the rates were no better (worse for electricity I think) and my smart meter stopped working. I would also have lost my entitlement to the Warm Home Discount. Contacted my previous supplier to get me switched back. I raised a dispute with British Gas therefore but have just now (today) heard from them denying responsibility because it was Simply Switch who requested the change.

Why was Simply Switch imposting British Gas ? For some fee they could claim I suspect.

This business of switching suppliers has become a total racket with switches being enforced on customers despite their objections. The only proper way to deal with this is to stop all cold telephone and other calling TOTALLY and require written authority from the customer to change supply.

CHANGED MY GAS/ELECTRIC TO BRITISH GAS…

CHANGED MY GAS/ELECTRIC TO BRITISH GAS ON THE 12/08/2021 WITH SIMPLY SWITCH THROUGH TOPCASHBACK AND STILL WAITING FOR £36.00 CASHBACK IT IS STILL PENDING IN MY ACCOUNT COULD YOU TELL ME WHY THIS IS AFTER 8 MONTHS OF WAITING SEEMS LIKE TO ME THIS IS FALSE ADVERTISING TO LURE PEOPLE IN WITH A CASH INCENTIVE AND THEN NOT PAY IT THEY EVEN PHONED ME 4/5 WEEKS LATER TO ASK ABOUT MY BROADBAND NO BETTER THAN CRIMINAL SCAMMERS TIME TRADING STANDARDS LOOK IN TO THEM AND TIME TRUST PILOT PUT A NEGATIVE STAR UP SO PEOPLE CAN REALLY RATE THEM AS THE THINK VERY VERY POOR

TopCashback referred me to Simply…

TopCashback referred me to Simply Switch. After I entered my details, the Simply Switch website offered me 2 plans. Both of them USED THE TOPCASHBACK CASHBACK AMOUNT to compare my current deal to the proposed new tariffs. This clearly influenced my decision to continue with the switch, which I did entirely online using the webpage that explicitly gave the cashback amount. But now, Simply Switch are rejecting the cashback, saying that they can't even find the order. Completely mis-sold the product, as their comparison INCLUDED THE CASHBACK AMOUNT, which they are now denying.

Very good deal but terrible customer service

Very good deal, one of the cheapest around but I found a different tariff with another supplier and decided to no longer proceed with Simply Switch. I called and emailed and got confirmation that my switch had been cancelled but a few weeks later I got a confirmation email saying my switch is now complete despite Simply Switch confirming it had been cancelled. Now I have to spend another 40 minutes on hold to British Gas trying to ensure I'm not switched!

Dont use Simplyswitch -they are utterly…

Dont use Simplyswitch -they are utterly hopeless
They tell lies and their customer service is appalling
Don't try ringing the customer service line as nobody answers and they refer you email
Their email responses are inept and inaccurate
They have cost me a lot of money as I am now left in limbo and I am reporting them to the Ombudsman

Pushy door canvassers who sign you up even when you say no.

I had someone come to my door from Simply Switch to give me information, he told me he could save me £200 (over a year) I said I would barely notice that over a year, he kept saying things like “so you don’t want to pay less” or “think of all the dominos you could buy”, after it came clear my hints that I wasn’t interested were being ignored I told him he could send me information via email as I’m not signing up to something I’ve never heard of at the door. He started to take my details which I realised were a bit too in-depth so I reiterated “this is just for information right” to which he informed me I was actually switching. I said that I wasn’t interested and wanted to get back to work, after again saying “you don’t want to save money?” he left. Since then I’ve been getting a lot of nuisance calls so I emailed the company to tell them to remove my details and they said “but you’d still like to continue with the switch you agreed to?” So he’d put my details through anyway. The only reason this isn’t 1 star is because it was quickly cancelled via this email and the responses were quick.

Was contacted by this company to switch…

Was contacted by this company to switch me over to a better deal
However I’ve ended up having to pay a large exit fee which I was told would be taken care of but neither energy company are taking responsibility as I didn’t switch through them! Was also told I was paying too much for my energy but am now also in debit with my new energy company as I’m using more than what was estimated (not by me) by quite a lot.

Hi I was told my smart meter would still be fitted by the original supplier to which they have now cancelled it and a £30 charge for leaving early none of this was explained!!!!

Missled Energy Transfer

I was guaranteed that fot the first six months monthly cost would be less than £30 but after the advance payment it moved to over £60per month! It’s poor they have not been able to harness my smart power meter,
Should have stayed with Scottish power rather than Peoples Energy!

We can see your switch was based on the usage that you provided so your monthly bill shouldn't be more that what we estimated. The advance payment to Peoples Energy means that you start in credit to them, after this first month you will continue to be paying around £30 a month.

The lady told me I would e £120.00 per…

The lady told me I would e £120.00 per month,when I looked at my bank statement it was £ 122.50 since I spoke with her my husband died and I live n a 2 bedroom house and cannot afford this amount per month.
I tried calling you and had no reply & also stopped my direct debit with Scottish gas to whom I sent to emails to call me, which now am awaiting someone finally to read my meter.
I paid my last supplier £79.00 per month and got a refund I was with them 2 years and only had 1 meter reading in that time.
I am not happy lady maybe £2.50 is not a lot but to a disabled widow it certainly is.

The switch was/is a…

The switch was/is a disaster.....4months on I am still paying 2 energy companies for my energy and still have no idea who to trust....I am in credit in both accounts...if I stop a payment will they keep using my credit to pay for energy I don't think they are supplying?
Absolute mess.
Contacting ombudsman.
