The Concord, CA, Social Security representative, Aaliyah, was very understanding and helpful in resolving the problem with my Medicare Part A & B application. In speaking with SSA representatives in Maryland, it was obvious that my application was being held up due to documentation not required for a Medicare application. In our in-person meeting, Aaliyah took the initiative to transfer the application to her responsibility, correct the details, and complete the SSA Medicare process. She was kind, courteous, and very professional in dealing with my wife and me. The next business day, she verified my enrollment in Medicare Parts A & B with a short and informative phone call. I want her management to know that she should be commended for her thorough service and follow-up. Thank you.

I can't believe the government uses my wife's income to determine what I get. My wife is afraid to get a raise cause it affects what I get. The more she makes the less I get. The more she makes, the less I get. But yet if you're an illegal immigrant you'll get everything and anything you want. This is mentally disturbing. Before I started receiving SSI I had no idea how much I would get. My wife and I live in a rv motorhome and our plan was to move. The SSI put a stop to that real quick. Now it's like it was before I started receiving benefits, I can't even afford groceries. I've been trying to get disability for about 4 years and this is what I get. The government must need the money more than I do.

I've requested a letter containing a confirmation code to create a new account four times. Never received. My original account had my old phone # so I couldn't receive a text message to verify my account. Was told to close that account and create a new one. NOW I cannot create a new account! This has gone on for four months! You have to call at least two minutes before they open to prevent a half hour to longer wait time!!!!

I recently received a letter from SSA that I need to apply for DAC benefits or it would affect my SSI. I was scared but a lady from the AUBURN, WA office called me and helped me file for these benefits. She was very kind & polite and made me feel a lot better about the process.

Just a terrible agency, waiting for years after being injured, now everything's approved yet takes forever to receive money you are approved for, its a completely broken agency, its a joke really.

Spent almost an hour on the phone with Houston Keene. We had an appointment with him at 3 PM and he called exactly at 3 PM very prompt. He was very thorough, answered all of our questions, and explained things very well. At the end our Social Security was applied for, and our questions answered. Houston is the epitome of good service.

How very embarrassing that my nation's "social safety net" is this nonfunctional and inefficient while being so blatantly wasteful of the taxpayer's money and time.
Any business which was managed this poorly while treating thier customers this badly would have gone bankrupt decades ago!

Zero stars should be an option. I am 44 trying to handle things for my mother that is 73 with dementia. I am ready to pull my hair out. How they expect old people to navigate through this is beyond me.

I can't believe how dysfunctional this person was or the SSA in general. The person was talking over me, impatient, indifferent, and kind of rude.

I was on hold for 47 minutes and when someone finally came to the line, she was very short with me when I asked a question. I tried clarifying what she just said and then the call ended. I just used my entire lunch break to have someone hang up on me!!!

I am turning 65 this month. On your website it says "your monthly payment". Sorry but if you are like me and want to wait until your 70 to collect your SS its not a monthly payment plan the first month. It can be 2-5 months of payments in your first Premium Payment. And after that unless you sign up for the monthly withdrawal it will be once every 3 months.
Then to throw a monkeywrench into the mix if Medicare goes up more than $10 or goes down more than $10 you have to start that cycle all over again. So tell me how this is easy for anyone over 65. They make you want to take your SS early so they won't have to pay you that extra you want to wait for. But SS and Medicare don't share info.

All I want to do is to correct a small spelling mistake on my Social Security card. My middle name is James, on my SS card the s is missing, so it reads as Jame. I tried phoning them 3 times for a total time of over an hour, I got fed up waiting. The ability to speak to a living human being appears non existent.

The wait time for a representative was awful, 45 minutes. I only needed help logging into my account. Your web site isn't much better than your wait time.

HOWEVER, London, the young lady who I was finally able to speak with was OUTSTANDING!!! Very Nice, Helpful, Patient and Kind.

Hellish experience TRYING to apply for retirement benefits. I created an account, but it wasn't clear what month to "start" to maximize benefits. So I logged out, spent 55 minutes on hold to SSA (called at what their website claims is best time of month, week, and day!) to get info. When I tried to log back onto my account, it wouldn't recognize my SSN! I tried repeatedly (and yes, it was the right number). This time I called local office, and they deleted account and said I would have to start anew. So I did, and the website said I had to wait for an "activation" code to come by mail in 5-10 business days. When It came I tried again, but this time the required "security code" to get into the account wasn't sent- instead just emails notifying me of login attempt! Their online "help" produced "sorry, no results" to the question "doesn't send security code." I wasted a lot of time searching for help on the site, and retrying until it finally locked the account for "too many login attempts" because IT NEVER SENT THE SECURITY CODES! For "try another way" it says use "saved security codes." Huh? They are ONE TIME CODES. And I don't have anyway. Just really messed up. Now I have to wait for them to call me for a telephone appointment. But it will be less than a month before my 70 birthday and they say you have to apply a month before that for benefits to start on time.

If you call 4019653120 Kilolo Kijakazi Commissioner (acting) office at SSA your call with be answered by some of the Meanest, Incompetent individuals you have ever spoken to. AND, if you show any frustration with their level of NONHELP you will be at length Lectured on how YOUR bad behavior is not acceptable. ZERO customer service orientation. Shameful. There is no reason to share this truthful review with SSA because they could care less.

The website is very, very buggy and there is no way to get a hold of a person via phone. I have tried for several years to get my statement, and each time I run out of patience after a few days of trying. It should not be this hard.

Once again, dealing with secure websites across the globe, we find the SS website and its affiliates, pitiful. Leave it to a government agency to make taxpayers suffer in every way conceivable--even such elemental tasks as logging on to a website containing their information.
