This entire system is a scam. The SS Kafka Hoax sucks up gazillions of dollars from poor people's paychecks without their consent for a benefit that can never be collected. The entire SS system is boobytrapped using illiterate and uneducated nitwits as a stonewall for anyone who tries to collect benefits via their rigged system. No, we did not ask to enroll in this program, it is forced on innocent people who have their money stolen--while the elderly are left to starve.

The representative (Ansonia office) was extremely helpful and went out of her way to help me.

A review on ConsumerAffairs really hit the nail on the head for me: "These so-called doctors are in a place to either say one is disabled or not. Now, none of the doctors know one iota about a person but they are supposed to be specialists and by one visit they know everything about the individual and thus make a decision based on a piece of paper(s) from other doctors that no longer treat a person. Real doctors treat patients with 75 percent of what the patient tells them and the other 25 percent is based on the physician's book knowledge. The Supreme Court states the following: Negligence per se (1996) 4 SCC 322. So the real negligence is the people they pay to create a decision based on one meeting. Where is the justice?"

I have been denied numerous times throughout the years because my disorders and physical limitations aren't what SS would classify as severe (even though I'm currently writing this review with a migraine that I've been suffering from for almost a week now.) My father was denied for 10 YEARS before he was finally approved. However, one of my neighbors was approved and not only does he pretend to walk with a cane, but he participates in drug activity. Another person I've met buys comic books, has 2 computers that he mines bitcoin with and goes to the movies every month and yet HE was approved for disability. As SS appointed psychiatrists have told me, SS doesn't take mental health seriously and there are people ON disability who don't need it, while people who need it are fighting tooth and nail to get approved. They keep talking about police reform in my city (Baltimore), they need to reform government agencies as well.

The phone waiting time is always too long. The rep is not helpful. The right hand doesn’t know what the left hand is doing. The online website is just as bad. Online chat is just the same. They just take your phone number and said they will call you back in 7 days.

They make doing a simple piece of business such as establishing a Representative Payee as difficult as possible.
. The local office doesn't answer its phone.
. When I call the national number or visit my local office, first-level support is useless. Appointments to see someone knowledgeable (a 'specialist') are six weeks out. Then when I see a specialist I get different requirements from each employee; no standard process.

This agency needs to be razed and reorg'd from the top down.

I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM SOCIAL SECURITY ON 18 JANUARY STATING I WOULD NOT GET PAID MY SOCIAL SECURITY ANNUITY FOR JANUARY 2023. I TRIED A LOCAL OFFICE IN SAN ANTONIO, ISOM ROAD, THEY WERE OF NO HELP!
THEY SAID THEY WOULD CALL WITH AN EXPLANATION. NEVER CALLED NEARLY 2 WEEKS LATER. TODAY, I CALLED UNITED STATES SOCIAL SECURITY IN MARYLAND. I SPOKE TO LATOYA.
SHE WAS ABLE TO VIEW THE LETTER AND EXPLAINED WHAT MOST LIKELY HAPPENED. SHE SENT MY ISSUE URGENT TO THE APPROPRIATE OFFICE TO CLARIFY. LATOYA STATED I WAS INDEED SLATED TO RECEIVE MONIES FOR JANUARY ON 8 FEBRUARY. JUST A LOWER AMOUNT. FOR FEBRUARY ANNUITY, WILL SHOW THE COST OF LIVING INCREASE TO BE RECEIVED 8 MARCH. WHAT A RELIEF! I NEED THIS MONEY TO PAY MY BILLS. LATOYA WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND TO HELP ME GET THIS ISSUE RESOLVED IN MY FAVOR. SHE IS INDEED A TRUE PROFESSIONAL THAT REALLY CARES ABOUT PEOPLE. THAT WAS VERY EVIDENT TO ME. I CANNOT THANK HER ENOUGH FOR HER HELP AND TIME RESOLVING MY DILEMMA. SHE IS AN ANGEL TO ME HELPING ME WHEN NO ONE ELSE WOULD HERE IN SAN ANTONIO. THANK YOU AGAIN LATOYA. YOU ARE WORTH A MILLION STARS TO ME!!!

I got a letter stating that SSA wanted to conduct its own mental health assessment in January, after I had already had my own done in November. I had previously spoken to a supervisor (Dan Kuda) about my financial and housing issues, so it was upsetting to get a letter asking me to wait 3 more weeks to conduct an appointment in a home I no longer had. I remember the woman I spoke to scoffing and saying 'You can't wait 3 weeks!' At that time, I hadn't eaten in 24 hours and all the fight in me was just gone. I had done everything I was asked to do and even submitted a dire need letter, but they kept prolonging the process.
I remember my older brother sprained his foot, he hired a disability attorney and settled for $10,000. My brother might have had a third of my work experience, and he continued doing the activities he had always done. I have had my disabilities most of my life, but my work wasn't affected until the last 2 years. Based on work history alone, my brother should not have qualified for disability.
I remember Dan getting smug when he called to ask me about my dire need letter, he stated a 'compassionate allowance' is for someone who is terminally ill and I told him I am requesting dire need (someone who has or is at risk of losing their home). There are four ways someone can get their case expedited, but according to Dan, it can take a week to 3 months. Also, the person collecting your information is the one determines if your case gets/stays marked as urgent. I guess Dan and his subordinate, Natalie, didn't think me being homeless or starving was urgent. I finally got my food stamp card on 12/17, so at least I can eat.

How can social security useimprove . They can start by reading medical documentation that's written in black bold lettering permanently disabled and get those disabled individuals their benefits or getting a translator to help them read it .secondly If you watch the local news people are falling on very hard times with inflation on everything an renters are having a hard time paying rent ..when your disabled an can not work because of impairments an have no income what will you be able to pay anyone for . Third thing is what does SSI do for disability people waiting an waiting an waiting is that nice for someone with no income ,can't work ..can't afford anything .but since their disabled social security would think .they have the time to wait an wait ..since their disabled sound right SSI?..why would any governmental agencie give that person that is disabled emotional issues on top of all the already important issues they are already going threw . Shouldn't SSI be concerned about the mental health of that individual or how about their physical impairments same with hearings office it another waiting game included into the waiting . disabilities do not wait an either does life or your landlord or your electric company none of these things wait ..but SSI does social security hearing does how is this possible always a wait ..to read big black bold print permanently disabled . Fourth .. fix your phone's since your a governmental agencie you'd think SSI phones would work correctly after 50 years or service an then try church for advice on how can SSI improve

Filing for ssi and dealing with the ssa has been the single worst experiance of my life. I filed by phone appointment june 14 2022. i never recieved a verification leter in 5 days nor have i recieved anything as of today 9/30/2022. i have spent many hrs on hold listening to there horible music just to be disconected after 45 minutes or so. i cannot tell you how many hrs i have wasted over 3 months. i finally got someone a month ago that sent me to some one else where you get there answering machine, which instructs you to leave a call back # which i did and yes you guessed it no call back. I finaly got a hold of some one again today here at the olympia wash office. and you guessed it i was passed to another answering machine to leave another call back # which i know will not get called back. when i filled back in june the ssi agent told me this was an easy claim, i would recieve my verificatio letter the next week and have deposit in my account by the end of the month. This is how are federal gov. runs. its no wonder me have so many problems

Very dishonest company. While the paperwork says one thing, your employees say the exact opposite. They are extremely insensitive and rude to disabled people. I have notified my congressman of your misleading misinformation.

If there was a rating below one star I would use it for these folks. Absolutely the worst government organization in the United States. Make promises they don't keep (verbal). If you do not get it in writing (all written stuff comes from a machine only) you have no proof of what you are told. When you try to reach them they say that the system is having problems and they are "sorry" so you are unable to resolve any issues. The local office is closed (Covid) and will not even accept certified registered mail. What a mess!

I felt that they approved my disability which paid me, but, the $1100.00 that I was approved for changed regularly and somewhere along the line it hasn't been worth it. The towns Social Services got involved and was less than truthful and too opinionated. I was always at a loss. They were filling their own pockets. And the amount approved , more and less was rotting my teeth, I might have had cervical cancer by now, and the 'Gird" they paid for by me using a RX. to take away the heartburn , might have caused throat cancer or ulcers , instead of fighting for me, they chose the corrupt way out. I also felt they should have paid me, under their terms 4 times more of the amount they did pay and, under my terms, just be honest and walk away from what else they wanted for me.
