Great for price for learner driver and everything was good but my 17 year old daughter has been charged £35 fee due the date being wrong on the driving licence but it wasn’t wrong when I entered it in the system so something must of changed your end. £35 is a little excessive to change one number when insurance for young drivers is already thousands. Shame as I would have recommended to all her friends now turning 17 but not anymore.

Sorry Sterling, but my experience has been pretty awful and quite anxiety provoking!! I would though, like to make it very clear that the people I've spoken to on a regular basis regarding my concerns were fab, very helpful and understanding!

It's the systems you use which are unfit for purpose and totally Ineffective.

I had to complete a declaration via the portal regarding modifications made to my car. I used the very user unfriendly system to do this. I then received multiple emails and notifications via the app and portal to submit information I'd already provided.

On seven occasions I received these correspondence with the final one stating that my insurance would br cancelled if I didn't provide the information (which i had on 6 previous occasions). I found this very anxiety provoking and decided to call a human (she was fabulous) who completed the necessary over the phone.

I thought everything was sorted (little did I know). Each time I submitted my information, I received an email from the finance company with slight increases to my monthly premium! I was originally quoted around £50 per month with all declared modifications.

Following my last contact which resolved the issue of incessant demands for information already received, I received another email from the finance company advising me that my monthly premium had again increased, this time to £77 (a total jump of £27 which over the 10 month term was an increase of £270!!!!)

I will not be using Sterling again, and was quick to check that my policy was not set to auto renew. On reflection I would imagine that Sterling are quite good (haven't read the reviews tbh) but on this occasion with a modified vehicle they were found to be wanting.

Apologies for the lengthy review, but in short, if you have a modified vehicle please avoid and use a genuine modified vehicle insurer. This has been the worst car insurance experience I've ever had! I will not be using Sterling again, and for the obvious reasons I cannot recommend them.

If I could give 0 I would. Cannot fault the staff on the phone super helpful and good price for learner insurance. However!!! Once you pass your test, like my son did today, whole different story. A quote for myself and my 18 year old son as apparently it’s cheaper with me on in and I’m in my early 50’s clean licence, is just over £9000!!! So I would say do not be lured in by this company and shop elsewhere. Total scam.

Money taken from account . My old car was damaged in a car park . Told my then insurance company car was damaged. Did not claim because 3rd party payed for car to repaired. So no claim made . When filling new form out for new insurance company on the question have u bean involved in a accident in last 5 years . Old car was parked up when damaged and I never made a claim. So put no . Because I notified old insurance company even though made claim I'm supposed to put yes to question! But I haven't . Extra money just taken from my account. Old insurance company sending letter to say I never claimed only reported. Apparently this doesn't matter. Unbelievable your damned if to things wright and damned if you don't . So car was fixed by 3rd party no claim made ! Tough !
