Actual cover over learning to drive was fine but the first time I tried to cancel online it didn’t work properly meaning I paid an extra months insurance, and then when I cancel over the phone I was not told that there may be extra charges related to my policy. I thought I was completely finished with the service. Only to several months later get a letter saying I owed them money and that I had 4 days to pay as the letter was dated several days before it reached me. When I enquired about the charge as it was completely out of no where to me, they said they had been trying to contact me. I had received no letters or emails and even the app said that there had been no messages sent to me since the day I cancelled my policy. Once I had been explained the charge it was understandable and I paid but the utter lack of transparency and communication left me feeling very blindsided and has completely changed how I feel about recommending this service. Learner and newly passed drivers already are facing such a learning curve with all steps of the driving process and this insurance company definitely soured mine and made it very frustrating and complicated for me.

I had to call SterlingNI twice about my renewal notice as it was coming up £250 cheaper on the comparison website with Sterling NI . I called twice and the second agent i spoke with was able to go through my details again and didnt understand why the comparison website was so much cheaper . I got the insurance at the cheaper rate

complete and uttter scammers!

i paid for a years worth of learners insurance upfront (never do that with this company, always pay monthly) and within 3 weeks of my policy sterling decided to cancel it. I was given no reason in either a text, email or within my policy page for why they were cancelling it. so i then had to call up and find out myself, it turned out it was because my license date was wrong (i lost my first license and since i didn’t have access to it I didn’t know what date my license was initially issued) which wasn’t their fault admittedly, but the 0 information of why it was cancelled was frustrating. Then on the same call, I was offered to change to a correct policy which was slightly more expensive (near £100 more). I was encouraged to check other quotes, to which i found one that was ONLY £30 more on a comparison website. So why they tried to sell me the ‘cheapest’ policy which was a blatant lie, i’m unsure. So i decided to let my policy cancel. On the call i was told that I would receive my refunded insurance amount -£37.50 for a cancellation fee. I had the insurance for 3 weeks, my full policy for the YEAR cost £267. I was refunded £94.05. I called up and was told that it was ‘non refundable broker charges’ which makes 0 sense, as if i decided to continue with a new policy with Sterling, these ‘non-refundable’ charges would suddenly go towards my new policy with them. There was 0 reasons or explanations for these charges previously, and it was on Sterling for insuring me in the first place when the license dates were incorrect. Also, had I paid monthly, I assume I wouldn’t have been scammed and charged these obnoxious fees.

Terrible company, all they do is upsell and steal. They don’t even check information properly.

I’ve been with sterling insurance for 5 years I stay with them not because they are the cheapest but because the customer service is exceptional, you always get to talk to a human without having to wait to long and nothing is too difficult for them to sort out, don’t ever bother to shop around when things are this easy

Wow what a lovely experience on renewing my Campervan insurance. 1 it had reduced in price, 2 the service was fantastic and very clear. 3 who would know I was happy to renew my insurance. May it continue. 👍👍

My experience dealing with sterling for my renewal was so easy. When I told them I could get a better price elsewhere, they done their best to get me an even better deal, which they did. Everything completed in less than 30 minutes, which is great, as I’m usually put on hold by other company’s for much longer and then to be told to ring back, this was all done in one call. Nothing was any hassle to them, and all things that where needed, where sorted. That’s why I’ll be sticking with sterling,
