Locksmith came over saying I needed to use his own locks instead of the one I have. He wanted to charge me £180. I called the lady that booked the locksmith and told her what the situation was, she tried to say I he can fix my own lock but it would still be £180. I got annoyed and told him I want going to pay £180 if I am using my own lock. He the lock smith aggressively said I should pay for his call out fee which would be £50. The lady on the call had originally said £35 for the call out fee. Lock smith later changed im his stance and reduced it to £42 including Vat. It all felt like they were trying to take advantage of me and I didn’t appreciate that. I have requested for a refund and waiting for them to get back to me. All this happened on the 7th of June 2026.

Very bad experience and total scam. Be aware of this company.never going to recommend this to anyone. I was locked outside with kids. the guy who came to open door he saw we were stuck with kids he said just to open the lock it will cost £250 taking advantage of the situation i said it will take 2 minutes he said thats my job but £250 otherwise sleep on the road today. I had a terrible and extremely stressful experience with this company.
I found myself locked out of my apartment one evening and contacted them for emergency locksmith assistance. What followed was, in my opinion, an example of why consumers should be extremely careful when choosing a locksmith and should, wherever possible, use an MLA-registered locksmith.
The locksmith who attended appeared unable to communicate clearly in English regarding pricing, technical options, risks, or likely costs. No clear upfront quotation or transparent pricing structure was provided before work commenced. During a late-night emergency situation, I felt pressured into authorising work without a proper understanding of the final cost.
The work carried out resulted in extensive damage to my door, door frame, and locking system. The level of force used and the extent of the damage caused appeared excessive and unnecessary. The methods used did not appear to follow what I have since been advised are standard professional locksmith practices.
Following the incident, I obtained advice from an independent locksmith. I was informed that a professional locksmith would normally first attempt non-destructive entry methods and, if those were unsuccessful, use specialist tools and procedures designed to minimise damage to the door and frame.
Instead, a substantial section of my door was cut out, and the structure and edges of the door were severely damaged. I have subsequently spent close to £1,000 repairing the damage caused.
The final charge of £642 was, in my view, excessive and disproportionate to the work carried out and significantly higher than the impression I was given regarding likely costs when I initially called.
As a result of this experience, I am pursuing formal complaints and legal remedies.
My advice to others is simple: always verify who you are hiring and, wherever possible, use an MLA-registered locksmith with a clear pricing structure and established reputation.

Brilliant experience with 24H Locksmiths. Had a problem with my lock, and someone was sent out to my house within 30 mins. The issue was rapidly identified and I was given a number of costed options for dealing with it. I elected for full replacement and my lock was then replaced within a few hours. Labour costs were reasonable. Ruben who attended was great - really polite, friendly and efficient. Would highly recommend.

I needed a lock changed urgently and Ruben was prompt to arrive. He was extremely professional and friendly. Ruben had the right tools for the job and was able to change the lock fairly quickly. From my conversation with Ruben it was apparent that he is very experienced and knowledgeable in his field. I was extremely frustrated by my recent locksmith experience and believe stronger action should be taken against rogue operators in the industry.

I was initially quoted a £50 call-out fee and told I could decide whether to proceed after receiving a quote. However, once the locksmith arrived, he immediately claimed my standard lift-handle door was “high security” and began pushing different lock options with constantly changing prices ranging from £250–£500.

He drilled the lock almost immediately without attempting to pick it first, then added extra labour and drilling charges on top. The pricing remained vague throughout, with pressure tactics and scare stories used to push more expensive options. The final bill came to £345 excluding VAT, and I reluctantly settled at £295.

The invoice itself appeared unprofessional, listing only a Gmail address and a non-working phone number different from the original call-out number.

This experience displayed multiple red flags commonly associated with rogue locksmith scams:

* bait-and-switch pricing
* vague verbal quotes
* pressure tactics while locked out
* “high-security” upselling
* constantly changing prices
* unnecessary drilling
* unprofessional invoices
* refusal to provide fixed pricing upfront

A legitimate locksmith should clearly explain costs before work begins, separate labour from parts, provide proper VAT invoices, and only drill locks when genuinely necessary.

I believe these practices should be investigated more seriously by Trading Standards, HMRC, and local authorities.

Thank you so very much George the lock smith for saving our day. He arrived within an hour and was so friendly. He talked about different ways he could open the door and the various prices it would cost etc. George tried the first option and it worked to open the door. It was a very low price compared to other lock smith’s and he was easy to negotiate with. Great in an emergency. I will recommend him to everyone.

Really fast and affordable service from Maro. Arrived within 30 minutes, effectively changed my locks, wrote me a receipt and left. Also had a wireless card machine for payment. Would definitely use again!

Call-out fee scam
On the website it says no call-out fee as an advantage but it still charged me £55 for call-out! Besides, VAT is top-up from all and they did not mention it at all on call!

Adam arrived promptly, explained the issue and dealt with it once I gave him the go-ahead. Very professional and polite.
