From beginning to end of the funeral and process and all staff who we came in contact with, we were looked after with kindness, respect and sympathetically. I’ve always seen Austin’s as the best around and our experience with them for Mum has been wonderful. They looked after Mum with great respect, her service at Harwood Park all the way through to when we collected her ashes afterwards. We can’t thank you enough.

First class service from beginning to end.

Expensive yes, but a really good funeral service. Very personal, lots of options, sensitive and professional at every stage.
Beautiful shop/showroom/funeral parlour. Staff were very attentive. The funeral celebrant they organised was excellent. Went very smoothly on the day. No hiccups.

The funeral directors on the day of the funeral were amazing and I cannot fault them in any way…so professional, kind and supportive.
I felt let down by the contact at Stevenage’s Austin’s who offered no help or support in the planning of the funeral…I was struggling to find somewhere to hold the service (non religious) and despite Austin’s having another branch 15 minutes from the burial site (which I didn’t know)…my contact was not willing to contact that branch, and didn’t suggest to me that I contact them either. She just said she couldn’t help. My understanding is that a funeral directors is supposed to help you arrange the funeral, but I ended up having to do it all on my own. The crematoriums I was speaking to even told me that they never deal directly with families and my funeral director should be making the enquiries. I had to tell them that Austin’s had refused to help and beg them to give me the information I needed. Once I had made the arrangements, Austin’s did then and take over communications. But it took me two whole days of fruitless enquiries and being pushed to breaking point to get there. We ended up using a crematorium 5 minutes down the road from the other Austin’s branch, so am sure they could have been very helpful had they been contacted, but I had to get find this all out on my own.
If you want to use Austin’s own services, they are fantastic (having used them twice before this time), but if you have a funeral that is outside of their neat box, I would go elsewhere, sadly.

The staff at Austin’s Funeral Service, in Hitchin, couldn’t have been more helpful.

As we are not local to Hitchin and having an hour and a half journey, via the Dartford tunnel, from Kent - meant organising things from a distance.

However, we needn’t have worried, as Caroline was so professional and went to great lengths to get the exact day/time for the service for us.

The staff on the actual day were also great and everything went to plan. The Order of Service pamphlets were lovely and my Aunt would’ve been so pleased with how it went too.

Austin's provided a great service at a vert difficult time. They were professional, kind, efficient, and respectful. Always helpful when needed, and discreet at other times. The attention to detail during the service was lovely. As their strapline says - they do indeed care.

Very happy with the service we received from Austin’s, particularly from June in Welwyn Garden City and also Lee and the other pallbearers, who treated my late husband with respect and dignity. They were very compassionate throughout and maintained excellent communication with the family.

Everything went smoothly. The celebrant was very good and the cars were immaculate.
