Impossible to get a straight answer, you can spend months without getting am answer, overcomplicated, unecessary amd secretive attitude from staff. Various level of incomptence hiding behing the Home Office banner. This is from someone without a single criminal records

Misleading information and the wrong level of DBS check
This was a major disappointment.
I intended to obtain an Enhanced DBS check for a Care Quality Commission registration application and selected the Enhanced option during the purchasing process. However, I subsequently discovered that the company had supplied and submitted a Basic DBS check instead.
Neither the initial confirmation nor the subsequent emails clearly identified the application as Basic, Standard or Enhanced. The correspondence also stated that my application had been “reviewed and submitted”, had “begun being processed by the Disclosure and Barring Service”, and that my certificate was “being generated”. However, when I checked the official government DBS tracker, it stated at that time that the DBS had not received the corresponding application.
I paid £130 for the service. By comparison, the official fee for a Basic DBS check is £21. I understand that a commercial provider may charge an additional administrative fee, but the total price and the failure to identify clearly what level of check was being supplied were unacceptable in my experience.
I also did not receive a VAT invoice or itemised receipt at the point of purchase. I later had to request confirmation of the exact DBS level, barred-list selection, workforce category, job role and submission details.
The website is a commercial .org.uk site, not an official gov.uk DBS website. Its presentation appeared highly official to me, which contributed to the confusion.
I called the company and challenged the information I had received. The representative offered a refund, which I accepted. When I asked for his full name and position, he provided only his first name. He confirmed that the telephone conversation had been recorded.
The Basic DBS check supplied would not meet the Enhanced DBS and barred-list requirements applicable to my CQC registration. I am now using the official CQC-authorised route instead.
I am currently waiting for the promised full refund and will update this review when the matter has been resolved. If the refund is not provided, I will refer the evidence to the appropriate consumer and regulatory bodies and to my card issuer.
Based on my experience, I recommend using the official DBS service for a Basic check or the dedicated authorised route specified by the organisation requiring an Enhanced check.

1. Individual Basic DBS Checks (for personal applications).
2.Basic, Standard, and Enhanced DBS Checks (restricted to employers, organisations).
Care Quality Commission (CQC) countersigned enhanced checks always needs to be applied for directly through CQC as they do not accept DBS Checks from external providers such as ourselves. Furthermore, the fields you have mentioned such as workforce, barred list, job role etc are all specific to enhanced applications. This information is not requested on the basic DBS application, therefore this is should have been a clear indication for you that you requested the basic check.
Regarding costs, our fees are higher than standard Government prices as we provide additional administration services. In your case, this included a fast-track service which ensures minimal processing times. Your application was processed and submitted within 1 working hour and your official DBS certificate was dispatched within 24 working hours. You also applied for the digital ID verification which allowed you to verify and upload your documents online.
While our system generates and emails VAT receipts automatically upon purchase, our team was able to resend a copy to your email as soon as this was requested.
Please be assured that your refund request is currently with our refunds team, who are reviewing your case in line with our terms of service.
We hope this information clarifies our processes and provides reassurance regarding the legitimacy of our services.

Very disappointing experience - not not use service
Very disappointing experience. I found this service through a Google advertisement and genuinely believed I was using the official route to obtain a DBS check. I was charged £134 and only afterwards discovered that the official government route is substantially cheaper.
I contacted the company requesting a refund within 24 hours, explaining that I had misunderstood the service and had not realised I was paying such a significant additional fee. I was told that no refund could be provided because my documents had already been uploaded, the application processed and the certificate issued.
I appreciate that a service had been provided, but I feel the circumstances were handled poorly. I had very little time to realise I had used a private provider and to request a refund, and I was disappointed that no goodwill consideration was offered given how quickly I contacted them.
£134 is a significant amount of money, particularly when the same DBS check can be obtained through the official route for considerably less. I would strongly recommend that anyone using this service checks the official government option first and makes sure they fully understand the additional charges before proceeding.
