Mentalwell provides online ADHD and autism assessments for children and adults, with short waiting times. ADHD assessments are carried out by GMC-registered psychiatrists, and medication titration appointments (finding the right medication and dose) by qualified prescribers. Autism assessments are carried out by a multi-disciplinary team of clinical psychologists and speech and language therapists. Choose private care or, for adult ADHD, NHS-funded care through Right to Choose.

ADHD, strongly recommend their service.
I was very hesitant when considering going private for my ADHD assesment. There were so many options and so many of them were giving an impression of just wanting to diagnose for financial gain. I took a chance with Mentalwell and I could not be happier with the service so far. I booked and paid for the service on Thursday and had the assesment booked in for Friday, so not having to wait a long period was really nice. My assesment was amazing; Dr Sherleen was extremely patient and understanding. She explained how symptoms may present which was very insightful and gave me a completely different understanding of how ADHD presents itself. The service overall so far has been transparent, efficient, and very informative. I could not recommend them more.

Our ADHD assessments follow NICE guidance and use a structured set of questions to build a full picture of a young person’s symptoms, development and how these affect them in different settings. Some questions may not seem directly relevant at the time, but they each contribute to the clinical assessment.

Convenient and Quick
Our family moved here from the States and had to get a reevaluation for treatment to continue. We were able to get in quickly, and the report arrived several days earlier than expected. The doctor was thorough and well prepared. They had weekend appointments available, which I truly appreciated. We'd happily recommend them.

Very happy with this company. Dr Sharleen is a psychiatrist and extremely experienced in this field. The actual assessment session is 2hrs but there are many forms to fill out in the lead up to the appointment. I found the person centred approach refreshing and supportive. No regrets. From start to finish the whole assessment time was conducted professionally by the doctor.
I was asked a series of questions and given time to answer and I was never rushed. I was obviously very anxious and nervous but this was overcome by the kindness of the gp who spoke calmly and was understanding to my needs.
I would recommend Mentalwell as everything was explained fully at the beginning, during and at the end of my assessment.

Statutory Cooling off Period. Do not book assessments too quickly! Buyer beware!
Being impulsive (a symptom of my condition) I booked an adhd assessment with a complete care package on the site. I subsequently found that my private medical insurance also provided cover, so as there was a 14 day cooling off period I cancelled with Mentalwell. They stated that I would only be able to get a refund for the after care package and that they would hold the cost of the pre-assessment and assessment as I had booked an appointment within the 14 days. This despite the assessment being 5 days after my cancellation request.
I find the lack of clarity around the 14 day cancellation terms to be deliberate. Why would someone choose a date 2+ weeks in the future when earlier appointments are available?
I understand some costs are involved in servicing the pre-assessment but to withhold the whole cost of assessment for this is onerous.
Buyer beware I guess but not what I would expect from a provider of mental health services!

Our team works very hard to make early appointments available so that patients can be seen as quickly as possible. This involves reserving clinician time and beginning the pre-assessment clinical review shortly after a booking is made. For this reason, when an appointment is booked within the 14-day period, we are typically unable to cancel it at no cost once this preparation has begun.
In your case the pre-assessment clinical review had already been completed. Once we clarified the cancellation terms, and a clinician has been allocated for the session. We advised that you were welcome to keep your original appointment in place. You chose to proceed with cancellation under the policy instead, and a pro-rated refund was processed on the same day.
We genuinely aim to make our terms as clear and transparent as possible, and we’re sorry if any part of this felt unclear or unexpected. Your feedback is appreciated, and we will review our communication to ensure it is even clearer for future patients.
