Warrington ,
Warrington ,
Messed about for over a month passed from practice to practice while my dog was poorly waiting to get a procedure. Once the appointment was set, 4 weeks after our initial consult we ended up at Failsworth. 1 hour from home. This was a positive experience and i was happy with the 2 vets we saw and their diagnosis for my dog even after rush hour traffic on the m62 at 8am in the morning. 5 stars awarded once we finally got the appointment. A soft tissue specialist and a second opinion from a cardiologist who Both agreed with my dogs course of action. I was asked to go back to my local branch at Warrington for a check up to see if the fluid on my dogs lungs that had aspirated from regurgitation had cleared. She was prescribed 30 days of steroids at failsworth ,which I was initially very hesitant with given the side effects of these drugs and the length of time she was on them for, suppressing her immune system and the obvious internal damage to organs and her gut the longer she is on them. However I knew from experience she needed strong antiinflammatory to try to drain the fluid which was necessary as of immediate effect so i agreed. The vets both said should the condition return once the dogs body has reset she would need an ultrasound and full bloods. Which I was happy to proceed. When I went to Warrington today I was met with a cold clinical male vet who stated because they were stabbing in the dark using steroids, that the condition may return which I was already aware of. Immediately his prognosis was that my dog would need to remain on steroids for the rest of her life should this be the case... wtf!!!
I told the vet this would not be happening as I knew the danger of this and told him what the vet at failsworth had suggested and this is what I wanted to happen. The vet wanted to poison my dog for life treating a symptom rather than even suggesting investigation to ascertain what could actually be wrong with her so we could treat a specific ailment should the condition return. I told him my dog would not be going on steroids for life especially not knowing what the cause for concern maybe. His inability to listen to the customer with zero compassion left me feeling very frustrated disappointed and dissatisfied with this practice. He made it difficult to talk. Spoke very textbook and made it clear even after investigation the option of steroids maybe the only overall outcome. This is not the case as I will take my dog to a holistic vet if necessary, bypassing the overuse of very potent substances long term without the cause of knowing what they are being specifically prescribed for. I feel sorry for those of you who put your trust into these supposed professionals who you're paying good money to for the trust and respect of the apparent health and well being of our pets.
They are causing more harm than good in many circumstances. Conventional drugs have there place yes, but are abused by getting dished out like toffees, especially when the vet, let alone yourself, doesn't even know why they're being prescribed. I wouldn't recommend this vet practice what so ever. Cold Clinical Corporate feel.. charity, Supposedly?! Lol Don't be lured by the free consults. Compassion is everything. We pay for what we get.
1st visit was excellent everything was…
1st visit was excellent everything was explained to me and was told to go boots as it was cheaper and being on benefits
But 2nd visit so wrong on the 29th Sept vet asked if he had flea treatment we said yes we order from P.D.S.A as its cheaper was told treatment would cost £77 I said we couldn't afford it so vet looked for a cheaper option £67 so we agreed I then take my dog to the car and let my wife pay she came out and it cost £191 I never asked for flea treatment I also found the eye drops were only £11 from boots you charged me over £40 vet didn't offer me a script to get the cheaper option ask for you take the flea treatment back I didn't ask for it you say as soon as it leaves the building you can't take back or refund me absolutely disgusting enjoy yr £191 it's the last u will get from me also I will be telling anyone who will listen about this thank you
Excellent!
Hi, I just wanted to say a big thank you! We’ve had very good experiences with every person we have seen, we had a particularly good visit today. Unfortunately we had a bad experience at a different vets when our dog was a puppy and unfortunately as she is a clever poodle, she hasn’t forgotten about it. Every vet we have seen at Animal Trust has been FANTASTIC! They have asked us the best way to approach our dog and we have never felt judged when it’s been tricky or she has growled and reacted. We had a particularly good visit today when we needed to come in for our dogs vaccines. Reception staff are lovely, always welcoming and friendly. The vet we saw today, I’m sorry we didn’t catch her name, was brilliant. Our dog has a muzzle for the vet and really didn’t like being touched today, more than normal. The vet was brilliant, took her time and asked how best to approach. She did the vaccine as quick as she could. At the end when we had removed the muzzle she took the time to say hello to our dog and give her some treats, this gave a very positive ending. She didn’t make us feel rushed or like our dogs behaviour was a problem. I can’t thank you enough - I’ve waited to leave feedback until we’ve had a few visits but honestly all I can say is it’s been amazing and very consistent. I’ve recommended you to everyone I know with a dog. Please thank the 2 girls on reception today and the vet we saw. Our visit as 29/9, 6:10pm. Thank you.
St Helens Absolutely fantastic vets
Absolutely fantastic vets! The whole team was so caring, friendly, and professional. They treated my dog with such kindness and patience, and took the time to explain everything clearly. I felt completely reassured knowing my dog was in such safe and caring hands. You can really tell how much they genuinely care about the animals they look after. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this veterinary practice to anyone looking for excellent care for their dog! 🐶❤️

Avoid this vet. They lie and harm animals.
I brought my 10-year-old dog, Zeus, to Animal Trust Dewsbury when he became acutely unwell, paying for same-day in-house emergency bloods. What followed across his final days was a deeply distressing series of clinical and communication failures, all documented in the practice’s own clinical records:
Prescribing without checking in-house results: In-house bloods were submitted at 4:50 PM on Saturday, but a full course of Metacam (an NSAID contraindicated in acute renal and hepatic compromise) was dispensed at 4:55 PM. The blood results finalised on-site at 5:02 PM and 5:12 PM showing clear kidney and liver abnormalities, yet Zeus was sent home on an NSAID while results sat unreviewed over the weekend.
Failure of urgency: When the clinic attempted contact on Monday regarding the abnormal results, I supplied my correct number by email at 11:25 AM and phoned directly at 12:00 PM expressing urgent concern. No advice was given to bring him in sooner, and a clinician only called back after 6:00 PM.
Triage delays: Zeus presented on Tuesday morning in shock ("not eaten for 72 hrs"), but his first documented assessment and emergency fluid bolus took over two hours to be initiated.
Inpatient medication contradictions: Inpatient records document IV Paracetamol being administered into active liver failure at 2:00 AM on Wednesday, which an attending vet had to discontinue hours later citing "liver concern".
Record contradictions: A nursing handover note on Thursday morning erroneously stated Zeus was "positive for lepto yesterday," despite in-house snap tests being negative and the external PCR still listed as pending.
Zeus deteriorated and was euthanised on Thursday. The lack of diagnostic follow-through, basic clinical communication, and continuity of care caused immense distress during the worst days of our lives. I strongly urge any owner using this service to double-check their pet’s test results before leaving the premises and insist on clear, written accountability.
Shocking experience
Shocking experience
If you are thinking of changing vets to animal trust especially Shrewsbury DONT .. the free consultation is not good , it’s made my dog worse , from reception to getting your pet diagnosed is very poor , charge well over for prescriptions and when you take a paper copy no one accepts it digitally as they small print only hard copy so you have to send it in .. it’s truly shocking
Can't thank these amazing people…
Can't thank these amazing people enough! They was all so lovely and caring. They all gave lots of fuss and love to my little dog who went in for an operation. I wouldn't take her anywhere else. The vet called me straight after to let me know all was well and how she was doing. I've never known a vets to be so attentive. Gave me lots of information and explained everything so clearly. Strongly would recommend this amazing vets.
Excellent.
Excellent service today the Vet that I saw today explained everything that I understood ,and was gentle with my dog .she explained what has to be done and how much it would cost clearly what a difference from my usual Vet and the price the pricing was almost half price to what I was to pay from my usual Vets . The staff on the reception were really nice. I would 100% recommend this vets .
Blackburn
After trying to contact the Blackburn branch for over an hour last night and 30 minutes today 23/09/26. I decided to drive to the Blackburn branch while my partner was still phoning them. As I was present waiting at the front desk at 3:00PM. The lady was chatting about TV programs etc. When I finally got to the desk and asked about not being able to contact them via phone. She said she is short staffed, she is busy and have no appointments. When i told her my partner is trying to contact as we speak, she stated we have to phone again tomorrow morning because she is busy with no help. This vet has previously took our money for our deceased cat. We paid for the full cremation, but instead they threw our cat away and gave us a refund with no apologies. They are cheap but cheapness can come with other severe costs.
Would only ever use Animal Trust
Would only ever use Animal Trust. They are so caring, friendly and obviously have pets at heart. You don’t feel pressured to have treatments you haven’t attended for. They make recommendations but then leave you to make decisions in your own time. More interested in your pets health than making money.
Amazing team
I took my dog to Animal Trust last week for her first appointment, and from the moment we walked in, the team were incredibly kind, caring, and considerate. During the initial consultation, the vet explained that surgery was recommended. I really struggle with the idea of surgery for my dog, so I asked for some time to think it over. I was given clear options, a full explanation of what the vet recommended, and absolutely no pressure. I was able to go home, talk it through with my husband, and make the decision in my own time.
When I phoned back to arrange her operation, the staff were just as supportive and reassuring. The vet took the time to explain everything again and answered every question I had, which really helped put my mind at ease.
The day of the surgery couldn’t have gone better. I dropped my dog off at 08:30am, and at 11:00am I received a call letting me know her operation had gone well and she had come round beautifully from the anaesthetic. I was told I could collect her an hour later. The nurse who handled her discharge was absolutely lovely — she explained everything clearly, including aftercare and prevention methods to stop this happening again in the future.
I’ve been with other vets before and have paid over £3,500 for surgery. Animal Trust was nowhere near that — her operation cost just £175. I also signed up for their pet plan, and her medication at the initial appointment cost me around 77p. The affordability, transparency, and genuine care they show is outstanding.
I would definitely recommend Animal Trust to anyone looking for a vet who truly puts pets first. Their kindness, professionalism, and honesty made a stressful situation so much easier, and I’m genuinely grateful for the care they gave my dog.

I had my shih tzu down to have her nails cut.
And i was shocked at the price £27.50 just to cut her nails.
When it was campbell and Galloway i was only charged £12.50 or not charged at all.
I know they don't have a consultation fee, but i feel theu are making up for that with their prices. Not happy.

Great experience
Great experience, easy to book appointments on line and staff are always welcoming and attentive.
Great treatment at the Birkenhead branch
Visited the Birkenhead branch today with my elderly Pug.
We saw the wonderful vet, Oscar, who went above and beyond in his care for Peter. Oscar is kind, has empathy, and a wealth of knowledge that he clearly shares with laypeople.
I couldn't recommend the branch or Oscar highly enough.
