I called The A Team Appliance Repair…
I called The A Team Appliance Repair for service on my Samsung refrigerator that was losing power intermittently. The booking agent was very clear: it would be $80 + tax, which included the diagnosis and a report. Any actual repairs (labor + parts) would be separate. I booked based on that information.
A technician arrived 2–3 hours later in an old unofficial-looking car. He stayed for 45 minutes, inspected the fridge, and told me it needed a new MCU board, power supply, and board assembly at a total cost of around $1,345. He then said the diagnosis fee was $290 + tax (or a total of $280 + tax for the visit), claiming the $80 was only a "booking fee" for showing up. This directly contradicted what the booking person had told me.
I paid the $280 + tax to avoid further hassle and threats of collections. However, the experience felt like a bait-and-switch: the upfront quote was misleading, and I ended up paying a high fee for what should have been a straightforward diagnosis under the original terms. So I pay 316.40 to tell me my fridge was broken and that the fix would be an additional $1400. I could buy a new fridge for that...
I got the diagnosis but no repair, and I strongly regret dealing with this company. Strongly recommend avoiding them entirely. Do your research and choose a reputable service with truly transparent upfront pricing. There are far too many similar complaints about misleading quotes and high pressure tactics.
Same as all the other reviews
Same as all the other reviews. Rather pushy techs, didn't communicate their approach and replaced a key part without indicating cost. Seems like their modus operandi is pretty sleazy.
I'm sure you can do better with other vendors.
They are a scam company
They are a scam company. They come to your house, ask for the part and service charge up front. They will not accept credit card only cash or etransfer. They install the part days after promised. It doesn’t work and then they do not come back. I will be contacting the police and consumers business act. They prey on seniors. My mother paid them $900. DO NOT USE THEM.
Honestly
Honestly, I want to rate them 0. The way they cheated me was too bad . I got my fridge repaired through them which was having cooling issue. It worked only for 2 days and then later stopped it. When I called the company the customer service completely denied of taking any responsibility. Technician serviced the appliance which as per them was never gonna work. Without even letting me know she just did something n result is 0. Guys plz be safe from these cheater. I am going to file legal complaint in consumer forum.
Less than 0
If it was was possible to give them less zero, we would do it. The came change and changed a compressor for $2000. A day later the same problem came back. Now they saying it's a thermostat. Customer service hung up on me twice. The technicann Ygor or Ali is not available.
Fridge not working for two weeks. Ministry of Cosumer Affairs - here we come. Don't deal with Maya.
waste of money
Waveguide on our built-in microwave oven develped damage. I called Team Appliace Repair. The technologist came promptly, within 4-5 hours of my call. He informed me that I should order new waveguide on Amazon, cut it to size by myself, and replace the damaged one. He did nothing, charged me $80.00 plus HST, and left. I went to Reliable parts store on Caledonia, showed them microwave specs and picture of burned-out waveguide, and within one business day they obtained the exact part, no cutting involved. The charge was $2.87 including HST for 2 waveguides. Getting Team Appliance technician was a waste of money.

PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! They take your money and NEVER fix your appliance!
Beware! Provided Unwarrented Service That Didn't Fix the Problem Anyway!
A technician came out to our house to look at our fridge. We told him that if the problem was the compressor, LG would cover the repair cost because it was still under warranty. The technician said he repaired the fridge but we would need a new seal system. He charged us $280 plus tax. He told us to plug in our fridge after 6 hours. We did that and the fridge did not work at all. A technician from LG came a few days later and replaced the compressor. Our fridge now works. Unfortunately, The A Team Appliance Repair charged us for a service we didn't need. They were very rude when I called them about this. I would definitely NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY. BEWARE!!
This company is a complete scam
This company is a complete scam. They charge extraordinarily high prices and are not competent to fix the appliance. This company's go to seems to be that you have to replace parts, not sure if they even do a proper diagnostic on the appliance. I was charged 1300.00 for a 200.00 part. I have a high end appliance and was told that I had to replace multiple parts. Eventually ended up spending over 5K and still the appliance was not fixed at which point I was told that I needed yet another part (to replace the module - essentially the control board). Please DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY under any circumstance. Three months later and my appliance still isn't working.
PLEASE DO NOT FALL FOR THESE SCAM ARTISTS!!!!!
Never use these scammers
Never use these scammers. Just had a service call to fix my freezer. Told me just need to do service to this and it will work and calibrate mother board. They chargerd $280 for Service. But nothing is fixed. Still same freezer not worked. Charged 316 with tax. Totally ripped off
⚠️ CONSUMER WARNING
⚠️ CONSUMER WARNING: Do Not Pay Cash/Debit Deposits to This Company ⚠️I am writing this to warn other Ontario consumers to stay completely away from The A Team Appliance Repair.I paid them an $800.00 deposit via an Interac Debit card terminal. Just one hour later, before any technician was dispatched, any travel occurred, or any parts were ordered, I canceled the request and asked for my deposit back.Instead of returning my money, this company kept $478.22 of my deposit. They claimed they were entitled to keep this large sum for "labour and a 15% restocking fee" on parts and services that were never rendered. When I refused their partial refund, they cut off communication and tried to demand I go through private arbitration to get my money back.Because I paid via Interac Debit PIN entry, bank chargeback rules do not apply to this commercial dispute. This company is actively exploiting that loophole to lock down and withhold my unauthorized funds. This matter is currently a formal open investigation with the Ontario Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery (Consumer Protection Ontario). If you need appliance repairs in the area, do not give this company a single dollar upfront. Learn from my mistake and find a reputable, transparent business instead.
SCAMMERS !!!! The A team appliance repair!!!
I would like to complaint against a company called The A Team Appliance Repair regarding what I believe was unfair, misleading, and intimidating business conduct during a service visit to my home.
Last week, my washing machine stopped working. I first contacted another repair company, and their technician diagnosed the issue as a faulty main control board. I was told the replacement part would cost approximately $350, but it was out of stock and would take 4–6 weeks to arrive.
Because I needed my washer repaired sooner, I contacted The A Team Appliance Repair and booked an appointment for the following day. When I called, I was informed there would be an $80 diagnostic fee and that they usually repair appliances the same day.
When the technician arrived, he briefly pushed some buttons on the washer but did not perform any meaningful inspection or repair. During the visit, he spent a long time outside on a phone call and later returned and continued randomly pressing buttons on the control panel. I explained that another company had already identified the issue as the main board. He then agreed and stated that the washer needed a new main board.
However, unlike the first company, he quoted me approximately $1,040 for the repair, claiming the part alone would cost about $720 plus $320 for labor. I told him that for that amount of money, I would rather purchase a new washing machine. He became very pushy and insisted I had to pay $320 immediately for labor charges, even though no repair work had been completed and no parts were installed.
I questioned why I should pay such a large amount when nothing had been fixed and very little diagnostic work had been done. He stated that according to company policy, bringing tools into my home counted as labor work, despite the fact that he never actually used the tools or repaired anything.
I explained that I did not want to pay and that I needed to discuss the situation with my husband. I was alone at home at the time and felt intimidated by the technician’s aggressive and pressuring behavior. He insisted that I pay immediately and pressured me to use my debit card. When I said I only had a credit card available, he refused it and pointed out that I had a debit card. I felt uncomfortable, pressured, and afraid, and eventually paid the $320 simply to end the interaction.
I believe this company acted in an unfair and deceptive manner. I was charged an excessive labor fee for no actual repair service, and I felt intimidated into making a payment I did not agree with.
I am requesting that this complaint be investigated and that the company refund the $320 charge. I also hope this complaint helps protect other consumers from experiencing similar treatment.
This company is a scam
This company is a scam. The did not fix it. No refund. I wish I seen the reviews before I got scammed.
Seems like the Company is good at Scamming
Seems like the Company is good at scamming money from customers. I made a service call and was told $80 for the call which seems a normal price to pay but instead when the tech arrived he wanted $275 just for investigating the issue. As far as I am concerned the $80 was just for the tech to visit my house. These guys are a joke and should be closed for business. The tech even called for the part which he never bothered to tell us but we insisted and the shocking price was $370. I would like to advise people to watch out for businesses like this one and please don’t make a mistake like I did.
Avoid at all costs will get scammed 100%
Contacted this company due to my dryer stopping after a few minutes into the cycle. They said it would be 80 to diagnose the issue. They said the machine just needed to be serviced which costed $327.70 upon completing the task they said that the issue is a bearing which would cost an additional $413. I told them I wasn't interested and they started trying to push for me to do the extra task and said that I should not use the dryer at all. At that point I sensed they were just pushing for extra money and told them I wasnt interested and they left. The dryer didn't work the same day and I contacted a different company they inspected it and said the dryer was fine and the issue was the dryer vent need to be cleaned which fixed the problem. This company was trying to scam for more then $700 over a fix that cost me $160. Avoid them at all costs. I believe its no coincidence that this company does not have a Google business page as it is trying to hide its reviews from anyone that doesnt do in depth research.
This business is a mastermind scam…
This business is a mastermind scam artist. No stars. We called them for a stove repair, agreeing to the $80 diagnostic charge. When the technician arrived, we inquired on pricing for the labor/part. He was literally in my aging parents home for less than 5 minutes, started what he called labor, before we even consented to work or the part price (we were still waiting to hear from his leads on the price). As I continued to inquire on the part price - he then quoted $600 for the repair (when i could replace 10 year stove at Costco for $1,000), we obviously declined the work and agreed to pay the $80 as discussed. He says we consented to some labor he did (less than 5 minutes, not a people person, super unfriendly and uncooperative) and lands us with a $300 bill for "labor" only. Excuse me, what labor of a part that was not on site, of a job we never consented to, while we were still waiting for a quote on the price - this company is scamming people and you should beware of them. Unethical would be an understatement, I can't believe companies and the people representing them actually exist. When i called them to discuss this, to my amazement, they hung up on me and didn't answer the next call from the same number. I had to call them from another cell phone number to discuss the issue, they didn't like hearing the truth and hung up on me again. They never returned the calls. BEWARE PLS - This is your gentle warning not to engage with them.
