⭐ 1 STAR – THE ART OF FINDING A REASON NOT TO PAY
Absolutely unbelievable experience with Medicash.
I had an echocardiogram following a referral from a medical centre. The referral was made by an Advanced Paramedic Practitioner — but apparently that wasn’t good enough for Medicash. Claim declined. Apparently, it matters more who puts their name on the referral than the fact that you actually needed the medical investigation. 🤦♂️
You honestly have to admire the effort that goes into finding a reason to say NO to a claim.
Maybe next time I should ask the doctor to write the referral in gold ink, get three witnesses, a solicitor and perhaps a letter from the King — just to make sure Medicash can’t find another technicality. 😂
The whole process feels unnecessarily complicated. You can have the referral, have the appointment, have the investigation and follow the process — and still end up with “CLAIM DECLINED.”
I work for Westfalia Fruit, and after this experience I will definitely be asking Westfalia Fruit to seriously reconsider Medicash as our healthcare provider and look at alternative insurers.
And I’m not alone. Other employees have experienced similar frustrations, and we will be raising these concerns with People & Culture.
To anyone considering making a Medicash claim: READ THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS VERY, VERY CAREFULLY. Read them again. Then read them backwards. 😂 Because apparently there is always another condition waiting somewhere to turn your claim into a rejection.
Medicash: thank you for teaching me that having healthcare cover and actually getting a claim paid are apparently two completely different things.
1 star — and that’s being generous.

Medicash is Excellent way to make you relax if having dental treatment normally 2 checkups with hygiene cleaning - same goes with eye care - other uses with them makes it complete nights in hospital and so on - would say if not in it please give it a try

Simple to use now that the online claim system is active, but benefits for basic treatments, dental, optical, etc need a decent increase to keep pace with rapidly increasing costs.

Has been ok until I was provided with false information
I have been with Medicash for one year and so far it's worked fine. However my benefits restarted on the 1st of August and I hadn't used my optical benefit so I enquired with Medicash around mid July about buying some 2 for 1 glasses at specsavers and splitting the bill across my two benefit years. I was told in writing I could do this. I purchased the glasses on the 31st of July and claimed my £75 and enquired to the original email about how to claim the other £75 this benefit year. I only collected the glasses on the 7th of August. A few emails back and forwards to be told today sorry but I was provided with incorrect information and they won't be able to honour it. More staff training would be beneficial there so don't give out more false information.
