I booked Mel’s Cleaning to handle the end of tenancy cleaning at my home and I was extremely happy with both the ease of making the booking and the cleaning itself.
I had very little time to organise the cleaning, as I thought I could do it all myself, but upon reflection it was going to be way too much for me to cope with, what with moving and packing and all the other stresses.
Luckily they had availability when I need them and the guys that came couldn’t have been nicer or more efficient. They truly cracked on and left the place sparklingly clean much to my relief and to the delight of my landlord who happily signed the job off.
I have never booked professional cleaners before so didn’t know what to expect, and I have to say if ever I need professional cleaners again, I’ll call these guys!!!

Lack of attention to detail
We decided to go for Mel's cleaning for our sparkle clean after our home reno.
They do call themselves professionals in sparkle cleaning, and the price reflected that as such however the service provided was lacklustre.
The team themselves were respectful and polite however even though the property was cleaned the quality control and attention o detail was not there and ultimately it was half a job.
Common examples, mirrors, frames & architraves were dusted to the front but not the tops, tops of wall hung cabinets not cleaned, spray streaks left on cabinets, walls left with dust/saw dust, large garden door wasn't even touched - even though they said they checked off these items.
When questioned about this, we got a generic response stating there wasn't enough time, however that doesn't explain half jobs.
Why would you clean a mirror but not the top of it? Why would you leave streaks on a cabinet?
Just basics really.
They also do an inspection with you at the end of the clean, but they only do this after they have already packed up everything in the van and are ready to go - this doesn't give you any time at all to get them to come in and redo the work.
The price does not reflect the quality and as such I would not use the in future for my other properties.

We feel some important context should accompany your review.
You originally requested a full-property sparkle clean following substantial ground-floor renovation works, explaining that building dust had travelled throughout your three-storey, 139 sq m property. Based on the information supplied, we professionally assessed the work as requiring 27 labour hours.
You subsequently advised that this was outside your budget, that the property was “not really that dirty” and “mainly just dusty”, and that your budget was £650. At your request, we agreed to reduce the booking to 18 labour hours at £612—a reduction of one third.
Before you booked, we expressly explained the consequences in writing:
“Within the booked time, the team would prioritise the ground floor and the areas requiring the most attention, completing as much as reasonably possible to a professional standard. As this is a reduced allocation, we cannot guarantee that every area originally quoted for will be completed.”
We also recommended that you provide a clear order of priorities on arrival. You accepted the booking on that basis.
Our subsequent reference to the available time was therefore not a “generic response” or an explanation invented after the event. The reduced allocation and its possible consequences had been discussed and agreed before the clean took place.
We understand the distinction between an item not being cleaned at all and an item you felt had not been cleaned thoroughly enough. Comments about remaining dust, marks on glass or streaking are taken seriously. However, the level of detailing achievable cannot be separated entirely from the time commissioned. The team were working through an extensive priority list across a sizeable three-storey property, together with additional requests including ornaments and picture frames, within 18 rather than the recommended 27 labour hours.
Your own feedback also acknowledged that substantial areas had been completed well. You specifically praised the bathrooms, carpets and flooring, streak-free glossy tiles and kitchen cabinet interiors. This provides important balance to the description of the service as “half a job”.
At the conclusion of the appointment, the team carried out a walk-through with you. You confirmed that you were satisfied with the work undertaken and signed our customer satisfaction form. The only area recorded as not completed was one of the children’s bedrooms, which the team understood had been accepted as such.
You have since said that the team had packed their equipment and were ready to leave when the inspection took place. We appreciate that observation. Nevertheless, the purpose of the inspection is to provide an opportunity to identify concerns before departure. The matters subsequently raised were not identified at that time, and the work was signed off as satisfactory.
This does not mean we dismiss subsequent feedback or suggest that a small detail could not have been missed. Fine residual dust following building works can be challenging, and we take genuine shortcomings seriously.
However, we do not believe it is fair to characterise the circumstances simply as poor quality or a lack of professional attention without acknowledging that we recommended substantially more time, reduced the allocation at your request to meet your budget, explained the limitations beforehand, received positive feedback on substantial elements of the clean, and completed a walk-through and sign-off before leaving.
We are sorry that, on reflection, the service did not meet your expectations. We believe this provides a fairer and more complete account of what was agreed and what took place.

Thanks Mels Cleaning, you've saved the day for me. One of my rental properties was recently vacated and was left by the tenants in a terrible state. They had been in the property for a year and don't that they did any cleaning during that time. I could not believe the kitchen and bathroom when I saw condition that they were left in. At first I thought I was going to have to replace the hob, oven and fridge because they were so bad and I had real difficulty just getting into the bathroom and toilet, due the awful smell and mess. I have used various cleaning companies on my rental properties over the years, but never found one I could completely trust to a) turn up when they say they will and b) complete the job to a high standard, that doesn't require that when I go around checking that everything has been done and I have to get them back to redo some areas to the standard that I want.
I booked the cleaners at short notice, over the phone and the operative on the other end was very helpful and assured me that the crew would be at the property on time. I arrived early at the property and the cleaning crew were already there waiting for me to give them access. They didn't seem too shocked to see the state of the property, but I guess they deal with this sort of thing all the time. They said that they would phone me when they had finished, so I could sign of the works. When I returned I could not believe the fantastic job the crew had done the time taken. The hob, oven and fridge which had been so disgusting, were like brand new. The sink, taps and drainingboard were sparkling, all the cupboards were clean inside and out and I had never seen the floor looking so clean. The laminate flooring throughout was great and The bathroom and toilet were spotlessly cleaned and smelt lovely. I didn't need to get them redo anything.

I booked Mel's Cleaning Service to clean a house my daughter had just purchased. I am less than a week post-op and I just couldn't clean it myself. It should be noted that the house was filthy. It had been over crowded with furniture, people and dogs, and was clearly impossible to keep clean in the circumstances. There was thick dust everywhere and the carpets were in poor condition. The smell of dogs was evident. We booked the "post tenancy" option with carpet clean. The two cleaners turned up on time and were absolutely lovely. They spent 6 hours at the property (12 hours total labour) and called my daughter back to sign off their work. She was thrilled, as was I when I visited in the evening. The house smelled fresh (and faintly of damp carpet, which was expected, and fine). The carpets looked new, and I was genuinely amazed! The house had been cleaned from skirting boards to ceilings. The kitchen cupboards were white inside, which was a miracle, especially the cupboard under the sink. Even the back door, which was stained black by years of dogs rubbing against it, was white again. We were delighted by the friendly and efficient service we received and highly recommend Mel's to anyone in the area.

We recently booked a full after-builders clean in Ipswich and I can say, without hesitation, that the entire experience exceeded expectations from start to finish.
From the outset, the booking process was refreshingly straightforward. Everything was clearly laid out, easy to understand, and handled with impressive efficiency. There was no unnecessary back-and-forth, no ambiguity—just a smooth, well-organised system that made securing the appointment effortless. In an industry where communication can often be patchy at best, this was a real standout.
Communication throughout was equally excellent. Every query was responded to promptly and professionally, and we were kept fully informed at each stage. It gave a strong sense that this is a company that values both its time and the customer’s—something that is increasingly rare.
As for the clean itself, the results were nothing short of superb. Anyone who has dealt with post-construction dust and debris will understand just how stubborn and pervasive it can be. Yet the team tackled it with absolute precision and care. Every surface was left immaculate—cupboards, skirting boards, fixtures, fittings—nothing was overlooked. Reliable, Understanding, and Highly Professional
I had to arrange an extreme cleaning service for a relative in the UK who had fallen into very difficult circumstances managing their home. It’s a large, older house and had become extremely cluttered, so this was not a straightforward job.

I recently used this company for a full clean ahead of a new tenancy and unfortunately had a disappointing experience.
The clean was booked as an end-of-tenancy service, and I had clarified in advance that the property was a new build requiring a post-construction clean. I was advised this would be fine within the booked time.
On inspection, there were a number of areas that had not been cleaned to the standard I would expect, including visible dust and debris in cupboards, marks and residue on surfaces, and general finishing issues throughout. I raised several points at the time, some of which were addressed while I was present, but others only became more apparent on closer inspection afterwards.
I also noted concerns regarding damage and marks to finishes that were not present prior to the clean, which has since required rectification.
During the clean, I observed the team wearing outdoor shoes throughout the property, including on new carpets and flooring, without protective covers. For a new build property, I would expect this basic standard to be followed, and this contributed to my concerns around debris being spread during the clean.
The company’s position is that I signed a satisfaction form on the day and that this constitutes full acceptance of the work. While I understand their reliance on this, I did note outstanding snags at the time and did not feel the subsequent complaints process fully took into account the detail and evidence I provided.
I would expect the company may respond to dispute this review, however this is an accurate reflection of my experience.
As a landlord, I have used a number of end-of-tenancy cleaning services previously, and this service did not meet the standard I have experienced with other providers.
Overall, I did not feel the service met the expected standard for this type of clean, and I was disappointed with how the complaint was handled. I will not be using this company again.
Based on my experience, I would not recommend this service.

We are, of course, disappointed to read your comments; however, it is important that we provide some factual context for the benefit of prospective customers who may read this.
This booking was completed in accordance with our standard procedures, which include inviting the client to carry out a full on-site inspection at the conclusion of the clean. On this occasion, you attended the property, undertook that inspection, raised a small number of minor points, and those were addressed immediately by our team whilst still in attendance.
Following this, and after being expressly advised to do so only if you were entirely satisfied, you signed our completion form confirming that you were completely satisfied with the service provided. This document represents the contemporaneous record of the condition of the property at the point of completion and acceptance.
It is therefore important to note that the position set out in your review differs materially from what was recorded and agreed at the time. In particular:
• The issues described in your review relate to open and visible areas which would reasonably have been identified during the inspection process that you undertook on-site;
• The only matters raised during that inspection were minor in nature and were resolved immediately; and
• No substantive concerns regarding damage, widespread cleaning deficiencies, or unacceptable standards were recorded at the time of sign-off.
We also note that a number of the concerns referenced in your review were raised only after completion and departure from site. As with any service of this nature, contemporaneous inspection and sign-off are critical, as they provide both parties with clarity and the opportunity to address any points there and then—which, in this case, was done.
With regard to the nature of the service, whilst it was mentioned that the property was a new build, the booking remained within the structure of a standard clean with a defined time allocation. No revised scope for a specialist post-construction clean was agreed. Expectations must therefore be aligned with the service contracted.
In relation to the points concerning footwear, our teams follow established working practices and, as part of our process, floors are cleaned as the final stage of the visit, including mopping on exit to ensure the property is left in a clean condition.
We also carefully reviewed the photographic material provided following the clean. In our view, this material does not evidence the level of deficiency described, nor does it demonstrate damage attributable to our attendance. This position is supported by our own time-stamped completion photographs and internal records.
It is also relevant to note that, notwithstanding the above, the resolution sought was a full refund of the service fee. Given the minor nature of the issues raised at the time, their immediate resolution on-site, and the subsequent signed confirmation of complete satisfaction, such a remedy is not proportionate to the circumstances.
Finally, with respect to the complaints process, we responded in detail and in accordance with our published Terms and Conditions, which form part of the service agreement. These clearly set out the role of inspection and sign-off in confirming completion of the works.
We fully appreciate that expectations can vary, and we regret that you feel dissatisfied. However, based on the contemporaneous evidence, the service was delivered in line with the agreed scope and was accepted as such at the time.
For prospective customers reading this review, we would emphasise that we operate a transparent process which includes on-site inspection and customer sign-off to ensure clarity and satisfaction before departure.

What a great job
What a great job of the deep clean of the house Mel’s team did. Very happy with everything, even the fridge and oven came up like new, which was amazing. Thomas, Freddie and Leo were very thorough, polite and friendly. I was concerned about paying upfront but it was fine. There was good communication with Mel’s throughout. I would definitely use this company again.

The gentlemen who cleaned our house today did an excellent job. They were thorough in their cleaning and so polite and positive in their attitude. I recommend them for anybody in need of a spring clean: lovely, hardworking and pleasant people.

Highly recommend this company
Highly recommend this company - very professional and worth every penny. They arrived exactly when they said they would and got far more done in the time than I had expected. Two friendly ladies bustling around which was very much appreciated. As I say can’t recommend enough - well done Mel’s Cleaning. Will def be using you again. Thank you.

AVOID AT ALL COST
AVOID AT ALL COST. Paid £450 for an end of tenancy clean. The house is still filthy. Not sure if they know what a hover is. Fridge not cleaned. Conservatory not cleaned. Cupboards not cleaned. I have sent pictures to get an email back basically saying tough luck. I have sent pictures and told they aren’t good enough quality to back my case. Told me there’s nothing else they will do and the matter is closed not offered to come back nothing. I will be going down the legal route to get funds back as landlord refusing to take house back until re cleaned so got to pay another company.

This to me shows exactly who you are as a company. You showed up over an hour and a half late I had to contact you to find out where you were. My client paid for an 8 hour clean you weren’t there 8 hours as you didn’t arrive until nearly one and magically at 8:04 you text me to say you were done. My client has 3 young children so how do you expect her to go to the house at that hour where you were meant to arrive at 10? The pictures I re sent you (you fail to mention this) clearly show that it hadn’t been cleaned. Also I was unable to download the pictures you sent so clearly a problem your end. Why not be normal and send the pictures in an email not using ‘collect’. Regarding the conservatory I specifically requested in my first correspondence with you that the conservatory roof blinds are cleaned so surely you would think that would mean above head high?
I have summarised the shocking service from you in this review not gone into every last detail. Yes I sent every single one of those text messages (great that you have the time to copy and paste every single one, breach of confidentiality there as I hadn’t given you permission to share my messages with the world). Also seems that we are not the only people who have had bad service from you. Upstairs was absolutely fine which is why I didn’t make one comment about upstairs did I? Also finding it a little suspicious that for a ‘large’ company you don’t have a phone number that actually lets you talk to a member of your staff just an automated message sending you to your website. Thanks to your useless staff my client is going to have to pay someone else to clean what you clearly couldn’t be bothered to.

It is very regrettable when customer's are unable or unwilling to accept their own failings, and this reviewer is a case in point.
At the time of booking we direct clients to our copious and clear FAQs that we believe will answer every question we've ever been asked. - sadly this reviewer failed to read these!
We make it CRYSTAL CLEAR that we do NOT work above head height unless specifically requested - sadly this did not register and the conservatory areas that exceeded head height were not cleaned.
We also make it CRYSTAL CLEAR, not only in our FAQs but in our TS&Cs AND we repeat it in the booking confirmation:
'Please be aware that should you be unable to attend, inspect and sign off the cleaning as being totally satisfactory, using our customer satisfaction form immediately after the works have been completed then you confirm you are happy for the cleaning to be completed as scheduled and that once the time booked is completed we have fulfilled and satisfied our contractual obligations.'
We were sadly forced to add this clause to all our bookings as there are way too many scurrilous, lying and cheating chancers that seek to get their money back or make threats around 'court action' or to leave nasty reviews if we don't refund them.
When it comes to the quality of the cleaning, our very high resolution images (there's 40 or so) show that we thoroughly cleaned a very tired and shabby property. This reviewer sent us teeny low resolution images of a very worn wooden floor and long shots of cabinets and then expected us to refund all her fees. sadly, this isn't happening as we did a great job.
Had this reviewer attended the property, as we recommend, at the end of the cleaning and had there been any REAL problems, we would have sorted them out, but of course she chose not to.
And now there's this nonsense about the landlord. Again, this reviewer would be well advised to read up (yes, READ!!!) on tenant and landlord legislation rather than fire off negative reviews laden with half truths and circumlocution of the real issue/s.
What was very telling was the stream of text messages we received before we revealed our high resolution images, they came one by one:
I need a response within the next 20 minutes
I would rather a full refund and get someone else
Seems to be a problem in every room
One of the reception rooms hasn't been dusted at all
None of the cupboard fronts have been whipped (SIC) down. Some of the insides of cupboards haven't been touched
The landlord has said you need to come back and do it again
This is shocking service
This list has now been distilled down into the nonsense contained in this review, and as we said very politely to this reviewer twice - we are sorry but we are unable to assist you further.
