Absolutely appalling after-sales service. We paid $11,928 out of pocket for an AlphaESS battery installation under Order #248452, which included a FIVE YEAR monitoring and maintenance plan. Yet when we actually need assistance, getting even a basic response from this company appears impossible.

I have repeatedly emailed regarding Order #248452 requesting that they reply and provide important documentation relating to THEIR installation, including the Western Power/DER approval, approved export limits, commissioning/export-control settings and Electrical Safety Certificate. Eight days later, I have received no substantive reply to my emails and none of the requested documentation has been provided. Attempts to obtain assistance by phone have also gotten me nowhere.

For a company that was happy to take nearly $12,000 from us, this level of communication and after-sales support is disgraceful. I should not have to repeatedly chase a company simply to get a reply to my emails and obtain important technical and approval documentation for equipment they supplied and installed.

I am now having to consider escalating the matter to Consumer Protection WA simply to obtain answers and have the installation properly addressed.

Based on my experience with their after-sales support, I would strongly recommend avoiding this company. Taking nearly $12,000 in payment appears to have been considerably easier than getting them to reply afterwards.

Every step of the way, from choosing the best options, to the installation, and information needed for me to make the best decisions for my needs, were handled with care, and consideration by the staff, skilled workers. WARNING TO POTENTIAL SOLAR BATTERY GROUP CUSTOMERS – PLEASE READ BEFORE PAYING A DEPOSIT
If you are considering purchasing a solar battery from Solar Battery Group, I strongly recommend that you do your research and obtain quotes from reputable, established suppliers before committing or paying any money.
My experience with Solar Battery Group has been extremely disappointing and has raised serious concerns for me about their sales and refund process.
My journey started simply because I wanted to obtain a quote and compare their pricing with quotes from reputable solar companies. However, getting a quote was not as straightforward as I expected. During the sales call, I was strongly encouraged to proceed and was told that I needed to pay a $350 deposit before receiving the quote. I was specifically advised that the deposit would be refundable if I decided not to proceed.
Towards the end of the call, I was asked for my credit card details and the $350 was taken from my account almost immediately.
I subsequently received the quote and began comparing the batteries being offered with products and installations from other reputable solar companies. I was advised by several installers to exercise caution and carefully consider the warranty and after-sales support arrangements before proceeding.
Based on this advice and my own assessment, I decided on the very same day that I had paid the $350 deposit that I did not want to proceed with Solar Battery Group.
I contacted them immediately, advised them of my decision and requested my refundable deposit back.
This is where my experience became particularly frustrating.
I was advised that it would take 15–20 days for my refund to be processed and appear back in my account.
I found this difficult to understand. The $350 was taken from my account within seconds, yet I was being told that returning money which was supposedly refundable would take up to 20 days.
I waited.
After multiple phone calls and emails following up on the refund, the 20-day period had passed. Despite this, I still had not received my $350 refund.
At the time of writing this review, I am still trying to recover money that I was told was refundable.
For me, this raises a much bigger question: If it is this difficult to get a $350 refundable deposit returned after cancelling on the same day, what would the experience be if I ever had to make a warranty or after-sales service claim on a much more expensive battery installation?
I am sharing my experience because I believe potential customers deserve to know what my experience has been before handing over their money.
Solar Battery Group's marketing may make the offer look extremely attractive, with competitive battery pricing, government rebates and long warranty periods. However, a warranty is only as valuable as the company's ability and willingness to stand behind it when something goes wrong.
My advice is simple:
Do your homework. Get multiple quotes. Speak to established installers. Understand exactly who is providing the warranty and who will be responsible if you have a problem. And think very carefully before paying a deposit.
I certainly wish I had investigated the company more thoroughly before handing over my money.
I am not writing this review to discourage anyone from purchasing solar batteries. I am writing it so that other consumers can make an informed decision and hopefully avoid the frustrating experience I have had trying to recover a relatively small $350 refundable deposit.
Consumers need to share their experiences and hold businesses accountable for the commitments they make to their customers.
This is my personal experience with Solar Battery Group, and I hope it helps someone else think twice before proceeding.

Everyone I spoke to was friendly and informative. The installation process was great. The installers were on time and did not leave a mess. I have been using my battery with no issues and the unit itself is not an eyesore as I imagined it might be. Highly recommend The Solar Battery Group. E.Hall

My experience with SBG was positive and straight forward. The enquiry, planning and installation was organised by phone and by email. The online process was convenient, and worked well for me.

While SBG was not the cheapest option when I was looking for a Battery, they offered a good product (AlphaESS ac coupled battery and inverter) at a reasonable price point. In short, the 14kWh AlphaESS setup hit the sweet spot for my needs.

Notwithstanding the above, there were 2 minor oversights that had to be corrected after getting the quote. However, to be fair, SBG did absorb most of the additional costs associated with the extra hardware that was overlooked on the quote.

The system has been up and running for 4 months. So far, there have been no issues - it works just like a new one.

Yes, I would recommend SBG.

I was looking for a quote for a solar battery and received a call from a representative named Kieran. He started the conversation by asking why I was looking to install a battery at this time and then explained the government rebate and provided some other information about the installation.

Eventually, the conversation came down to pricing. The quote I received was significantly more expensive than other providers offering the same battery capacity. Despite this, Kieran asked me to pay a $350 deposit.

I explained that I had already had a few other providers visit me the previous day and that another provider was scheduled to visit that day. I also shared the prices I had received from the other companies, as I wanted to be transparent. Kieran became upset and questioned why I had come to him if I received other cheap quotes.

I explained that I was simply doing my due diligence by obtaining multiple quotes and comparing the options before making a decision. Instead of addressing my concerns professionally, he began speaking negatively about the other providers. At that point, I felt uncomfortable with the conversation and decided to end the call.

The experience was extremely frustrating. I also feel sorry for the other sales staff in the company who may be doing a great job but could be negatively affected by the behaviour of one individual. In my opinion, sales representatives should receive proper training in customer service, communication, and professional conduct before being placed in a customer-facing sales role.

Unfortunately, based on this experience, I would not feel comfortable proceeding with this company.

I received a flyer from Solar Battery Group advertising their product/services. I contacted SBG who explained the process and benefits of purchasing a battery. The guy who did the explaining was clear and concise and patient. For someone who is not well up on batteries or electricity I welcomed the way the information was given to me.
I asked for a quote which I accepted and an installation date was given. I continued to receive updates and support both pre and post installation. On the day of the battery installation the installer arrived at the time agreed, completed the job and cleared up. He proceeded to advise on what the signs that came with the battery meant and what to do in the unlikely event a problem occurred. I also had a plug fitted should the power go off and he explained what to do in that regards.

I rang up with some concerns and the staff were able to reassure me about the new battery.
